my mom has been experiencing this weird outbreak of hives all over her body, and when she has an outbreak it seems to cause severe joint pain,but not in the same joints it kinda travels around.she has been to an allergist but they put her on predisone and clarinex and zantec but as soon as the pred. is done the rash seems to rehash and the clarinex and othe meds seem not to help at all.
Hello, thank you so much for your very informative answer. The pollen count for my area has been extremely high the past three weeks and this is when the phosphenes and the dry eye syndrome started. The ragweed is in total full bloom where I live, it's all over the place. There is a lot of wind which is blowing it all over and into my house. I have to keep the doors closed. My eyes have always been healthy until Aug 15 when the high pollen count happened.
Claritin and Clarinex (they work very differently) might help. Claritin makes me light headed for 30 minutes, raises blood pressure a little but wears off after a few hours. Clarinex works better for me, lasts 14 hours on me. Both are pretty weak for antihistamines.
Other than this there is a couple more that use the same med as Claritin, so same effect pretty much. The other antihistamines usually cause drowsyness.
Don't know of too many nasal sprays with out steroids.
Anybody out there get phenonmena called phosphenes in their eyes when the pollen count is really high? My area is experiencing high pollen and ever since my eyes have been blurry, tired, burning and I see a flash or spark when I go into a dark room. This only happens when I have eye allergies. Could it be from dehydrated dry eyes or from the pollen irritating the eyes.
You can experience congestion, wheezing, headaches, and coughing. T he pollen count as well as humidity is high especially in the morning, as a result you can experience these symptoms as soon as you wake up.
Keep windows closed when the pollen count is high. If possible it is better to use air conditioning. Also keep your home as allergy free as possible.
You can take anti-histamines like Cetrizine at night to prevent this during this season.

Is it possible that my Pug has allergies with all the pollen floating around in the air. We live in the woods in North Carolina.
Here in Australia it is spring time and the pollen count is through the roof. As a result I am suffering from hayfever/asthma and typically do each year from 20 October to 20 November and pretty much to those dates. At 34/63 weeks on tx it certainly is adding an extra dimension to my sx's but still upright. I have found it necessary to take 180mg of 'fexofenadine hydrochloride' an anti-hystermine I guess.
two years ago I was Hbsag reactive, though very low virus count, I had all the test needed including DNA test which said my viral count is below the lowest range test can detect,I don't drink and had a healthy eating habit, though after finding out the desease I consumed more vegetables, fruits and supplements such as fish oil, pollen bee, garlic and ginseng, after a few months I'm Hbsag non reactive, my anti body is low, now my question is, can I have a vaccine?

You can take OTC antihistaminics like benadryl or Claritin. Longer-acting antihistamines are available by prescription. They cause less drowsiness and can work just as well.

Her OB and PCP told her that taking her clarinex was OK. She is miserable without it and right now has a wicked cold. I have been reading now that clarinex is OK to take and other sites saying it is not OK. She is 21 weeks right now. Why would they say it is OK if it isn't? Thanks for any info.
In the meantime, i have switched allergy medication from Clarinex to Xyzal, which may also be helping a little. I now take the allergy medication before bed whereas before, I had been taking Clarinex in the mornings.
I notice that the problem of too much mucus seems less prevalent in the mornings upon waking up. It worsens in the afternoon and evening, especially after meals.

its gotten alot worse over the last three..have been tested i am severely allergic to all tree pollens grass and ragweed pollen mold and dogs..i have tried everything ( including the drops under your tongue) nothing reaaly helps i am tired of feeling like this all time..
s 30, in good shape and eats healthy but suffers from dust and pollen allergies. His allergies make him sneeze about 100 - 200 times when the pollen count is high! Our physician prescribed a nasal spray which helps with symptoms. However, the headaches don't seem to be related to his allergies and the doctor says that they are stress related. Also, his annual blood work show thyroid values to be around 95 and he was prescribed levothyroxin 50mcg.
First is the cough from a problem in side or something you are breathing in? A good test I use is a HEPA filted mask. (the kind you can get in the hardware store with canisters). Wearing that for 5 minutes should clear up the mucus quite a bit if it is something you are breathing in. Easy test and takes only 5 minutes. Try a deep breath with the mask on after 5 minutes and see if you still feel like coughing.
I was exposed to TB at work and converted PPD positive however was on 6-9 months of isoniazid (INH) treatment several years ago. Last time the blood test came back with low count of white cell. Urine also had high level of bacteria but doctor said perhaps because I had menstrual cycle when urine was taken. Other than that, everything was normal. My lung xray were clear. What can be wrong?
