Claritin and Clarinex (they work very differently) might help. Claritin makes me light headed for 30 minutes, raises blood pressure a little but wears off after a few hours. Clarinex works better for me, lasts 14 hours on me. Both are pretty weak for antihistamines.
Other than this there is a couple more that use the same med as Claritin, so same effect pretty much. The other antihistamines usually cause drowsyness.
Don't know of too many nasal sprays with out steroids.
my mom has been experiencing this weird outbreak of hives all over her body, and when she has an outbreak it seems to cause severe joint pain,but not in the same joints it kinda travels around.she has been to an allergist but they put her on predisone and clarinex and zantec but as soon as the pred. is done the rash seems to rehash and the clarinex and othe meds seem not to help at all.
Her OB and PCP told her that taking her clarinex was OK. She is miserable without it and right now has a wicked cold. I have been reading now that clarinex is OK to take and other sites saying it is not OK. She is 21 weeks right now. Why would they say it is OK if it isn't? Thanks for any info.
In the meantime, i have switched allergy medication from Clarinex to Xyzal, which may also be helping a little. I now take the allergy medication before bed whereas before, I had been taking Clarinex in the mornings.
I notice that the problem of too much mucus seems less prevalent in the mornings upon waking up. It worsens in the afternoon and evening, especially after meals.

First is the cough from a problem in side or something you are breathing in? A good test I use is a HEPA filted mask. (the kind you can get in the hardware store with canisters). Wearing that for 5 minutes should clear up the mucus quite a bit if it is something you are breathing in. Easy test and takes only 5 minutes. Try a deep breath with the mask on after 5 minutes and see if you still feel like coughing.
I use use Clarinex which helps a little. Tried Claritin and it did not do anything. Most nasal sprays help, a non steroid nasal spray such as NasalCrom might help too and is gentle with virtually no side effects. I found that allergy shots was the only thing that stopped it for me. I don't use nasal sprays anymore. My rynitis was really bad and clogging my air ways. Now it seems to be almost gone. I get a bit sticky but never more than clearing my throat kind of annoyance.
There is straightening of the cervical lordotic curve in the neutral position. There are fusion changes at the C4-C5 and C5-C6 levels with anterior fixation hardware components and intervertebral appliances. There is no definitive evidence of fracture or subluxation. The remainder of the nonperfusion intervertebral disc spaces are adequately maintained. At C3-C4 there is a mild degree of right-sided foraminal narrowing. Minor right-sided foraminal narrowing is also present at C4-C5 and C5-C6.

What really helped me was Clarinex prescription from my doctor. It doesn't work right away. They do have claritin OTC but it is less strong. It takes a while but then it works after a while and then I hardly had any allergies. Another thing you can try along with this is daily Nasal crom spray. It doesn't harm the nose like other nasal sprays.
Degenerative changes seen @ levels C3-C4, C4-5 and C5-6 primarily on the right most pronounced @ C5-C6 w/ decreased disc/degenerative disc seen @ level C5-C6. Intervertebral foraminal narrowing seen @ C3-C4 & C5-C6 on the right due to the hypertrophic changes previously described. Normal appearance of the cervical spinal cord.
Also, can you recommend any free MRI imaging viewer software on the internet? Dicom seems to be what I have on my CD that was given in lieu of film.
The bulge can increase and decrease in size. My physio said I had a problem at the C5 area. I use to experience tingling down the left arm but that has now subsided after 3 courses of physio, rest, exercising and stretching. I also experience shoulder pain and muscle spasms just under the tip of the scapula cloase to the spine. The whole area can be sore or stiff when I wake up. I sleep with a pillow that supports the neck.
had test done results are: narrowed disc space at c5-6 noted with spondylosis and mild narrowing at c6-7 also seen .no fracture or dislocation noted.
Three years ago I had mri that showed mild disc buldge at c5-6, c6-7. I had it because I had severe right side neck pain from sports that required use of right arm. No special treatment done, I just stopped all sports I loved like softball and tennis. Now August 2010 I joined a health club and started swimming. I was having increased left shoulder blade pain and then developed severe left arm pain from shoulder blade to wrist, the enitre circumfrence. Then my index finger went numb.

Findings
Cervical spondylosis with marginal lipping is noted most at C5/6 level. No discrete focal bony lesion or abnormal marrow signal intensity is seen. Mild decrease in vertebral height of C5 and C6 is noted. Rest of the cervical vertebrae shows normal vertebral height. The vertebral endplates appear preserved. Loss of cervical lordosis with no abnormal anteroposterior slip is noted.
Focal moderately severe cervical spondylosis at c5/c6. At c5/c6, a large posterior disk osteophyte complex causes moderately severe central canal stenosis. In addition, there is severe bilateral c5/c6 exit foraminal stenosis with likely impingement/irritation of both exiting c6 nerve roots.
I am on a long waiting to see a specialist and cant help worrying about the above.
