Claritin makes me light headed for 30 minutes, raises blood pressure a little but wears off after a few hours. Clarinex works better for me, lasts 14 hours on me. Both are pretty weak for antihistamines.
Other than this there is a couple more that use the same med as Claritin, so same effect pretty much. The other antihistamines usually cause drowsyness.
Don't know of too many nasal sprays with out steroids.
My OB told me that I was aloud to take my Claritin d for now but since the decongestant can make your blood pressure go up I will just have to watch as I get closer to my due date. She told me I could switch to regular Claritin if this start to effect my blood pressure. So I would always ask her OB but my doctor didn't really have any other concerns about it. I have been experiencing a lot of head pressure, and dizziness, and fatigue the last couple of days. the head pressure sometimes has some pain associated with it,sometimes throbbing but mostly a feeling of pressure. I have had this in the past
and many times can associate with changes in the barometric pressure or weather
systems that come and go. I definately have more problem in the spring and fall with this.
my mom has been experiencing this weird outbreak of hives all over her body, and when she has an outbreak it seems to cause severe joint pain,but not in the same joints it kinda travels around.she has been to an allergist but they put her on predisone and clarinex and zantec but as soon as the pred. is done the rash seems to rehash and the clarinex and othe meds seem not to help at all.
In the meantime, i have switched allergy medication from Clarinex to Xyzal, which may also be helping a little. I now take the allergy medication before bed whereas before, I had been taking Clarinex in the mornings.
I notice that the problem of too much mucus seems less prevalent in the mornings upon waking up. It worsens in the afternoon and evening, especially after meals.

First is the cough from a problem in side or something you are breathing in? A good test I use is a HEPA filted mask. (the kind you can get in the hardware store with canisters). Wearing that for 5 minutes should clear up the mucus quite a bit if it is something you are breathing in. Easy test and takes only 5 minutes. Try a deep breath with the mask on after 5 minutes and see if you still feel like coughing.
Feels like my intestines are swollen and burning internally, which causes the bloating sensation, but my digestive area is soft, when pressure is applied, my chest always feels tight, very tight which makes it very difficult to breathe, and the more constipated/bloated I feel, my chest begins to hurt. I have seen a Gastro doc, whom said it's possibly IBS, and try fiber. Fiber bloated me real bad.
What really helped me was Clarinex prescription from my doctor. It doesn't work right away. They do have claritin OTC but it is less strong. It takes a while but then it works after a while and then I hardly had any allergies. Another thing you can try along with this is daily Nasal crom spray. It doesn't harm the nose like other nasal sprays.
Everything was good except my blood pressure was high for the first time. They told me not to worry and im not. But just wondering how likely it could be that id get pre eclampsia. I only have three weeks to go so thought i was safe from that. Lol. What should i look out for or do till my next appointment?
The benefits of BP meds could outweigh any risks of high blood pressure. I know that I will have to take BP meds when im pregnant. You should really consult your physician to see if this applies in your case. Aldomet is a BP med that is considered safe in pregnancy. I was on BP meds when I miscarried but had nothing to do with it. BP can be a serious problem in pregnancy and should not be ignored.
I'll be 37 weeks any my blood pressure keeps going up it was 136/82 at the hospital and today when i checked it at home it is 145/92 the hospital told me to have it checked at the doctor tomorrow, anyone else had this happened to them ? If so what did the doctor do?
I had legit pregnancy hypertension and it was that high during birth so that after, I had a blood pressure cuff that took my pressure every 2 hours for 24 hours. (THAT was a pain as it wakes you up as it squeezes your arm). Just talk to your doctor Paige next visit or even call in before if you are worried.

I had high blood pressure with my first. So far I've been good but it could if been high if you were even just a little nervous or even the walk from the waiting room back to the room could of made it go up. Mine has gone up once this pregnancy, the nurse checked it and made a note for my Dr and when he came in after a few mins of me sitting down and he re did it,it was normal again.
