My boyfriend started taking Citalopram, 20mg/daily, back in June of 08. His Dr. recommended that he take something for depression since he had recently quit drinking. He had a few side effects for the first couple of weeks but other then that, he was doing great. About 2 months ago he started to get really strange. He moved out of our apartment and in with a friend of his who drinks and does drugs, for no reason at all. It really upset me and he just didn't care.
The symptoms could be the side effects of the medications.The combination of clonazepam and unisom can cause central nervous system and respiratory-depressant effects which may be increased in patients taking multiple drugs that cause these effects, especially in elderly or debilitated patients. Discuss your symptoms with your consulting doctor he may change the dose or the medications.
Yeah sometimes I do I am taking citalopram also the doc just boosted me to 40mg but anyway I believe it is one of the side effects you'll get used to it.
You could very well be having side effects from the meds. This is very common in the beginning. Yours are pretty severe though, if that's what going on, side effects. You might want to talk to your Dr about trying you on something else. What dose are you on? Some Drs will start you on a small dose and work up to a higher one while others will start you on a high dose. We're all so different and react to the same meds differently.
I took Citalopram for a long time without any side effects, 20 mg, although I was more comfortable with 10 mg. I have anxiety about taking drugs-go figure. It takes about 3 weeks to get the full effect of the drug and feel relief from symptoms. If you felt better at 10 mg, you might want to stay there. Just give it time to work--about another week for you. The xanax should help into the Citalopram kicks in. Hang in there.
i have had 5 years of citalopram for depression and anxiety and i had cbt for cancer phobis which worked im on 40mg and am wondering if im becoming immune to its effects as i have a lot of panic attacks does anyone know anything about this im scared to change meds as worry about side effects dont want to go to higher dose sometimes its like a living hell please help !!!!!
s very typical (common even) to experience some short lived side effects (like the ones you describe) after increasing your dose of Citalopram. The side effects should start to improve after about a week, maybe a little bit longer. I would recommend just giving it some time, and of course, keep your doctor abreast of the way you feel.
Also, just like when you first start an antidepressant, these meds take time to make noticeable differences in anxiety.
ve been on citalopram (including myself) and there was no weight gain. However, weight gain is listed under possible side effects, so it does happen to some people. But it's not like mood stabilisers, where the weight gain is very likely. I wouldn't worry about it. Most things that are listed under the side effects of any given drug are very rare.
s now been 4 weeks since I took my last citalopram and nothing has changed. How long can the side effects from the citalopram affect the Wellbutrin?
Not a doc, but the combo of Lexapro and Effexor is pretty odd to me. They both affect serotonin, but Effexor also affects norepinephrine. I can switching from one to the other, but don't understand taking both. You do need to discuss this thoroughly with a psychiatrist, but I'd personally get another opinion if you can for these reasons: This one is just adding meds to meds that don't work. That isn't how augmentation is usually done.
I had the same issues when I first started taking levothyroxine. Everyone kept telling me that the levo doesn't cause side effects, but I felt like I drank about 25 cups of coffee when I took it!
That was 50mcg, my doctor kept increasing the dosage because my TSH was so high. Between 300 and 800. with every increase I just felt worse.
I have Hashimoto's Encephalopathy which is a lot different from HD, but still effects the thyroid.
