I just started taking Citalopram would that cause a numbness in my left arm? I just started taking it for Panic attacks. My doctor checked my heart and blood work and everything was good. I was freaking out thinking signs of stroke but I know it could not be that was wondering if that is a side affect and how long it would take to not happen?

I'm a sixteen year old girl with really bad anxiety and OCD. When I was a little kid, I had a phobia of choking for four years, which got so bad that I stopped eating solid food entirely, and had panic attacks if I was around "choking hazards" (small toys, beads, etc). It was mainly about breathing, not choking itself, since I was also very scared of drowning, suffocating, having a heart attack, etc.
I was on lexapro and I suffer from anxiety/panic disorder. I found that it did not help from me. When I first started medication Paxil Cr was perfect for me! I no longer had any anxiety! i took it for about a year and then got off it because one side effect was increased appetite and I gained like 20+ pounds. So I then went to Effexor, Lexapro, Remron, and I am now on Pristiq. SO far the prestiq has helped my depression.
I'm completely freaking out. I have General Anxiety Disorder and I don't think my medication is working. I've been on Citalopram (20mg) since March but my panic attacks are becoming more frequent, I'm sweating, trembling, my heart is beating super fast, I have really bad nausea, and I'm either sleeping too much or not at all. I'm terrified I'm going to fail my exams because I've been missing so many classes due to these symptoms. Help!
I also take panic attacks out of the blue and thats what scares me, why do i take them 4 no reason? Im on citalopram but i dont think they r working, r they any good? Please help me its driving me mad!!!
I am on xanax and citalopram (which I just started) and therapy (which I just started). Three days ago I started feeling worse, medically. I wake up early each morning in a panic with some lose bowel issues and dry heaves or vomiting. The last three days it has been worse!! Yesterday was awful and I was so dizzy, especially during the vomiting. I will feel like I am going to pass out. The ER treated me for dehydration, gave me an EKG and ran some test. All normal, of course.
my psychiatrist gave me citalopram, after taking citalopram i started felling better, and after couple months i was 99.9% cured. depression had gone, i had high self esteem again feel confident for my self i could do anything.no more panic attacks, i realized that nothing is wrong with my heart and no more agoraphobia.i start doing things again in my life, i was not sitting all day in my room and thinking about it.all those bad thoughts had been disappeared.
I was on that same med and i started getting alot of panic attacks! When you switch they have to weeen you off the citalopram slowley and then you are stuck a week with out taking anything! I went from citalopram to effexer and i was sooooo scared to switch also. I just told myself that i have to do this otherwise its only going to get worse and i was on the pills for 6 years! When you switch it is important to NOT read any of the side effects because you are going to freak yourself out!
i have been on citalopram for two years and put on 50lb, which really depresses me since my eating and exercise regime has never changed. looking on the net i discovered wellburtrin, so i will ask my gp if i can swap over to this. i just want to know would i stop taking citalopram and start taking wellburtrin, or would i cut the dosage of citalopram down and take the new wellbutrin with it.
Hey..just made this profile as after two years of suffering depression I finally got the courage to go to the doctors yesterday and he said I had servere depression and anxiety and prescribed me on Citalopram 20mg .... Does anyone else take this? I'm doing this all alone, not told family or friends and I'm scared of doing this on my own.. Any advice from anyone who is/has been on Citalopram please?
Hi, I was just prescribed Citalopram for some anxiety issues, I am currently taking Rhodiola to help with those issues, should I stop taking the Rhodiola and take the Citalopram exclusively or can/should I take both? Thanks!
ve been suffering from severe anxiety and panic attacks mostly ever since trying an antidepressant, Citalopram, I had not had a panic attack since July of this year and I was put under dangerous situations in which I could have had a panic attack but didn't.
i have had depression for 5 years and am treated with citalopram 40mg at times i get such bad anxiety and nausea and dizziness icant really connect it to any depressive episodes though i do feel sick when my nerves are bad also does anyone know how to wean yourself off medication very slowly
About 6 months ago I was very constipated so I went to the ER and they did xrays on me and told me I was just constipated from anxiety. I saw my regular doctor and got put on citalopram 10mg. It did nothing for me so I went back recently to up the dosage and also to see why I was getting constipated again. My doctor told me to take 20mg and to add fiber into my diet. I think I went a little overboard will the fiber which made me very gassy and hurt my stomach.

I started having severe anxiety attacks two month ago, though I have suffered with anxiety my whole life. I have been on Citalopram for four days now and the side effects seems to be increasing. I am on a small dose, one quarter of a 20 mg tablet. I am suppose to go up to one half of a 20 mg tab today but am afraid to. I am jittery, have headaches, am groggy but panic when I try to sleep, have heat flashes through my upper body, my eyes feels strange...the list goes on.
I have been taking buspirone 15mg for three months now for anxiety and panic attacks. I have done wonderful on it except still have a little panic at times.. My Dr. (nurse practitioner) gave me Citalopram 20-mg to take with the buspirone and advised me to break it in half for the first week and then start on the whole 20-mg second week.. I was wondering if the two combines would hurt me.. I also take Micardis 40-mg once in the morning and Propranolol 20-mg that I take in the evening..
I was diagnosed with OCD when I was 9. I have been on Prozac, Paxil, Lexapro and now Citalopram for 16 years. At this point the citalopram doesn't seem to be working anymore. I have increased my dosage to 80mg a day and have added xanax about .5 mg 2 to 3 times a day about 1 month ago. I am very depressed and I'm worried about forgetting things. I'm worried about getting alheizmers disease. I need to go to see a neurologist and have some tests done.
