Ciprofloxacin side effects

Common Questions and Answers about Ciprofloxacin side effects

cipro

Avatar n tn Hi, How are you? Common side effects of ciprofloxacin are stomach pain, headache, vomiting, diarrhea, stomach upset and restlessness. Rarely it can cause skin sensitivity to sunlight, rash, breathing difficulty etc. Vaginal discharge with odour and back pain are the manifestations of UTI. Since how long are you using ciprofloxacin? Feel free to ask if you have any more doubts. Take care.
Avatar m tn I have read a ton online about horrible side effects. I figure most people would post these types of stories rather than success stories. What is the truth? How safe should I feel taking this drug? I voiced my concern to my family doctor and he seems to back the drug. I took one pill and feel some slight side effects so far, but nothing extremely serious.

Just because a side effect is stated here does not mean that all people using this medicine will experience that or any side effect. Common (affect between 1 in 10 and 1 in 100 people) Nausea. Diarrhoea. Rash. Uncommon (affect between 1 in 100 and 1 in 1000 people) Itching. Loss of appetite. Thrush infections. Headache. Dizziness. Difficulty sleeping (insomnia). Feeling weak or tired (asthenia).
Avatar m tn So yes---In fact--since you brought it up--I have a new group called side effects of medications. Feel free to post your side effects there.
Avatar f tn t ever self-treat for an STD, since so many of them have similar symptoms, but really different treatments. Chlamydia has more effective treatments than cipro, and they have far fewer side effects.
Avatar f tn org/posts/STDs---STIs/Are-these-Azithromycin-and-Ciprofloxacin-side-effects/show/2996010# gardnerella also factor into the white tongue/lump in throat etc. (in addition to the antibiotics)? I cannot find a whole lot of information about gardnerella in men. On a side note, I am assuming the gardnerella was the cause of inflammation since I had tested negative for chlamydia and gonorrhea.
Avatar n tn Never self medicate...side effects could be worse then possible diagnosis. 1) They could be effective 2) Gonorrhea-probably, chlymida-not a concern with oral sex, syphilis will not be cured with what you took. What you have to do is wait for symptoms or testing times and get tested.
Avatar n tn Try to avoid Cipro or Levaquin if you can. The side effects can be horrible including orthopedic problems you do not want to have, so tell them you throw up when you take them if they try to give you Cipro/ciprofloxacin or Levaquin.
Avatar m tn hi by the way my question is i recently take ciprofloxacin and it has side effect of like yellowish eye and skin/ vomitting and nausea.. and now im done taking the antibiotic .. and took a sgot and sgpt but it is high compared the normal value.. is it still the side effect of the antibiotic or there is really a problem with the liver and needs to be cured .. sgpt : 282.8 sgot: 213.
Avatar m tn Thankyou for your links, I am unfortunatly not very awear of how I should look after my health with HBV, my specialist doctor isn't very helpful with my condition, he just takes blood every 6 months, mumbles a few words and so the cycle goes. I am always very cautious to take medication, as I know my liver is not in its top condition. The doctors just priscribe drugs and very rerely, look at your condtion, past health issues ect..
Avatar m tn I took ciprofloxacin for approx two months. I had to stop taking ciprofloxacin due to side effects. The symptoms have since continued, and I have almost daily pain in my pelvic floor region. The pain feels like my pelvic floor region is tightening up and pulling the scrotum and penis inwards. Around the anus it feels hot and tight. The whole area feels 'pinched' and sore. I also experience pain at the base of the penis, which seems to shift to pelvic floor region.
Avatar f tn It is especially useful for some types of chest infections, and skin, intestinal , and urinary tract infections. Possible Adverse Effects Ciprofloxacin commonly causes nausea and vomiting; other side effects are less common, except when high doses are given. Painful and inflamed tendons should be reported to your physician at one, treatment should be discontinued, and the affected limbs rested.
Avatar m tn you were given cipro for a cough? cipro has side effects you should contact your doctor since you're experiencing symptoms and they can give you somehting else, you shouldn't continue taking something that you're having a bad reaction to... I'm not a doctor and you should consult yours for further direction. Also, this is an STD forum are you concerned about an STD??
Avatar n tn It should only be used when all other antibiotics have failed to work. The drug companies are not telling the doctors of the severe side effects of this medication, and doctors are handing it out like candy. Make sure your father doesn't take this or nay other antibiotic in this family. The FDA is working on getting a black box warning on this drug or banning it. If your father's blood is bright red, then it is coming from the colon, which can be polyps, fissures, or hemmorhoids.
Avatar f tn If you had a UTI and that is why you are on it, I would recommend going to a drug store and taking the liquid cranberry or pill next time. Are you worried about its side effects or whether it will delay getting pregn?
Avatar f tn However since I stopped the ciprofloxacin and seemed cured, month later it has returned with other troubling signs. Once again, pain in testicle, swollen something that when touched I feel like passing out (concerning) however no sharp pain.. occasionally I can mess with the pained testicle and cause me to pass gas (concerning) which only sometimes relieves the pain/abdominal bloat.
