Cipro yogurt

Common Questions and Answers about Cipro yogurt

cipro

Avatar m tn Two classes of antibiotics that should never be taken with yogurt are the tetracyclines and the quinalones (Cipro being such an example). (Ref: Drugs, 1976 11(1):44-45). The bio-availability of these medications is significantly destroyed. (Clin. Pharmacol. Ther. Nov50: 498-502). The Journal of Infectious diseases (Jan 2011) recommends Cipro as an alternative to intravenous medications (Vancomyacin) for treatment of osteomyelitis.
Avatar f tn Do not take Cipro with calcium, milk, yogurt, probiotics or with Nexium (which contains magnesium). Cipro is a quinalone, and is effective against mycobacteria, which don't have cell walls, but is not effective against other many strains of bacteria. The taking of an anti-viral is a mixed blessing. Go to the FDA site for information on Valtrex. A culture should have been taken, but this isn't done very often these days.
Avatar f tn If you have a bacterial infection, antibiotics must be continued until the infection is destroyed. If you cannot tolerate erythromycin you should have been immediately switched to an alternative antibiotic.
Avatar n tn I have had numerous UTI, kidney infections which are treate with the antibiotic Cipro. As the Cipro kills of the good bacteria, yeast thrives. I found that eating yoghurt does not seem to be sufficient for me. I also take Acidophilus suppliments. You can get this at most drug stores. Stay away from sugars and white flour. Most of the grains are turned into sugars as the body processes it. You will need to do this for several months before you will notice a difference.
Avatar m tn they've treated you for almost everything. Some gonorrhea is resistant to cipro but typically it covers the bases. My advice is, stop worrying at this point. Drink plenty of fluids to keep your body well flushed out. If the diarrhea isn't resolved yet, start eating yogurt 2 or 3 times a day. If you don't like yogurt, pick up some culturelle tablets at the drug store or walmart. If 2 weeks from now you still have discharge, return for more testing.
Avatar m tn However 3 weeks ago (a week before I was down with acute gastroenteritis, I already was on Cipro as I had unprotected sex with a friend and I was displaying symptoms(discomfort while urinating, no discharge, frequency). He also gave me a jab in my butt but I have no clue what is that. Currently I have been off cipro for a week and I feel the discomfort when I pee has slightly intensified. I can feel it during pee, or after I pee.
4454327 tn?1405203128 Cipro makes me feel awful. I wouldn't assume it's dumping syndrome. If all antibiotics are finished, start a good probiotic and Metamucil. It comes in capsules as well as powder. Between the two, I think you will feel better soon.
Avatar n tn My 20-year-old son has had Gerd his whole life. He stopped his Nexium at 18 years old and has been OK. About four months ago he began having daily nausea. He has lost 10 to 15 pounds and has stabbing pain in his stomach. Vomits pretty much daily. Throughout the day it gets somewhat better. But chronic pain in his abdomen and extreme intermittent nausea. Have had several tests. Positive h pylori in blood. Treated one week quadruple therapy. Only to find stool test negative.
Avatar m tn A couple of months ago, I was misdiagnosed with a urinary tract infection and was put on 2 weeks of cipro, 1000 mg a day. During my time on cipro, I noticed an intense stomach gurgling that would sometimes persist for hours. I didn't think much of it at the time though. Since coming off of the cipro, I have had abdominal pain, sometimes in the lower left abdomen and sometimes in the lower right abdomen.
Avatar n tn I had a recent bout with pouchitis and took Cipro and Flagyl (and yogurt) . The Cipro made me feel normal again and reduced frequency to 5-7 x's a day- I felt good! When I came off the Cipro the high frequency diarrhea problem returned. I go every 6 hrs at about 4 trips per. I am so beat down by a lack of sleep and stress from this that I am ready to die!!! Given I have young kids this is not an option though, if I didn't it would be.
Avatar f tn You may also want to consider trying some probiotics in capsule form. There are some very good brands on the market that include Culturelle, FloraQ, PB8 and Digestive Advantage-IBS (not for IBS alone).

Avatar f tn This might be a dumb question but is it safe to eat yogurt while prego?
Avatar m tn i had an unprotected (status not known) encounter 5 weeks ago, approx 10 days later i had extremely painful urination. Took a zpack and cipro. went to the doc, neg for chlymidia and gonorr. they gave me doxy anyway and rocephin shot. one week later i saw my urologists who suggested prostatitis. gave me cipro again, 2 tabs a day(1,000 mg/day with 200mg of doxy/day). after 2 weeks of hell (painful urination) it went away and painful ejaculation as well.
Avatar m tn hi since may of this year, i have been on the following, keflex twice(70 pills total), cipro twice (40 pills total), azthromycin twice (8 pills total), doxycycline (40 pills total), bactrim(30 pills) and 3 rocephin shots). would that be why for the past few months i have had yeast/fungal issues, they come and go in my groin and under stomach and arm area, and little yeast bumps on body?
Avatar m tn Get some natural yogurt (set yogurt is better because it is not so runny) and apply that to your genitals. The yogurt will cool down the irritation and calm down any inflammation. This does work. As you have had a lot of antibiotics, but despite you having antifungal medication, it is likely that you still have some type of irritation. Do not wear tight clothing and only wear cotton underpants. Cut out refined sugary foods and fizzy drinks.
804636 tn?1238002991 Have you ever tried Cipro? I used to get kidney infection every 3 to 4 months. Most of the times it worked. Lower dosis of antibiotics never did the job.
3148906 tn?1343695795 Hi there, When you take antibiotics you need to restore the normal "flora" in your tummy by eating Yogurt and taking Pro-biotics for the duration of the antibiotic course and a few days thereafter. You can get Gaviscon OTC and drink it 3 times a day and that will also help.
Avatar m tn I saw a urologist for discomfort I was facing from my testes. I thought it might have been from weight-lifting or ab workouts. She ordered a Ultra-sound and a Urine analysis. Urine analysis showed no problems. Ultra-sound showed that on the right testes there is epididymitis. In addition, both testes had an increased blood flow which the doctor says is orchitis. The past couple days I have not felt the discomfort. I told that to the doctor.
276730 tn?1327962946 I'm on the 8th or 9th round of antibiotics since starting tx, 61 weeks ago. Mine is mostly sinus/throat/upper respiratory stuff and a nasty UTI. Before TX I got frequent sinus infections, too - I'm on allergy meds and injections as well as cipro, allergy meds, nexium, TX meds - interferon and riba wreak havoc on the immune system.
Avatar m tn He said I could do either, so I opted against Cipro for now. Cipro would be a 10 day course he said of 500mg pills twice a day. I finished my Zithromax(I didn't need this) a week and a half ago. I'm a bit concerned whether the Clotrimazole will help the minor urethral irritation or if I need Cipro, too. If I do decide to go with the Cipro, does that mean double the pain for my knees, since some Zithromax could still be in my body tissues.
Avatar f tn Avoid the Cipro, it's a very dangerous antibiotic!!! Plus, keep in mind when you take an antibiotic you are killing off all the good bacteria found natuarlly in our instestines that aids in digestion. After a course of antibiotics, eat yogurt enriched with probiotics to replace this. Take care!
Avatar m tn Im traveling in mexico and got pretty sick (my best guess is it was 'Travelers Diarrhea' or maybe food poisioning) I went to the pharmacy and got 500mg Cipro pills. I took one and got a horrible headache and vomitted alot. My symptoms seem to be gone however would it be a bad idea to stop taking the Cipro? I know people say you should always finish a course of antibiotics but in this case I dont know if I need them.
