Started taking ciprofloxacin for infection. Has taken it many many times before but this time i felt that my skipped beats increased quite alot. Can ciprofloxacin do this???
Only visual symptom is a slightly swollen/darker meatus that is not painful to touch. I noticed that Cipro seemed to be the most effective drug and that seemed odd because cipro is not the recommended treatment against NGU infections. Should I take a herpes blood test and if so how long should I wait? Or could this be some other kind of infection or virus?
Thank you for responding to my question. It has been 12 days since I had root canal on #14. Took Cipro for 7 days. I'm still feeling lpain/discomfort on #14 and try not to chew on that side of mouth. How long does it for root canal to heal? Can and do root canal fail? What are symptoms of failed root canal. At the time of root canal Endodonist put temporary filled on crown. I have appoint with regular dentist for permanent filling in a week.
That liquid like ball is edema and depending on how large it is and that it is on the throat, a drain my be necessary. As for the Cipro....there are some very serious risk factors. If your pet has any of the MANY risk factors, giving Cipro can be deadly to your dog. If your pet is under 2 years old (assuming by the weight he is a medium or large breed)....do NOT under any circumstance give Cipro.
Please please take your dog to the vet so he is properly treated in a safe and humane way.

Saw my doctor because terrible irritation in penis tip, sore testicles and having to urinate all night. No burning when I pee or discharge but significant pain at tip. Doctor did first catch urine test; neg for leuk & nitrates, said it could be prostatis so he gave me 7 days of Cipro. Had a minor surgery a few days later so did not take it. The next week it got even worse, so went to urologist. Same symptoms but worse. Dr. asked if it could be std, I told him I doubt it...
is it safe to take 125 mg of cipro each day for 6 months I was prescribed this for a UTI that keeps coming back. Also the pharmacy that filled the prescription gave me 250mg tablets and told me they aren't made in 125mg. and for me to break in half . But the info that comes with the meds says not to break.crush, or chew.

I have problems with UTI and kidney infections on a regular basis. I have been on Cipro on and off since 1994. Cipro has allways worked very well for me. I have not experienced side effects from this drug. I have had other antibiotics prescribed to me that did have some negative side effects. In my case Sulfa drugs causes hives.
From 1994 up to 2003, I used to come down with UTI and kidney infections that required hospitalizations with a frequency of about every 3 to 4 months.
I took 1 dose of 500mg Cipro Friday night at 5:30p.m. Immediately felt flushed and red in the face.
I continue to have flare ups 3 days later. How long does this take to go away.
No symptoms at all. The cipro and biaxin were not for stds, they were for a sinus infection. No pain, no discharge. I did get a yeast infection from the antibiotics, and wondered if that could have managed it's way to my urinary tract...but no burning, nothing like that. All of this seemed to be triggered from my masturbating without and ejaculation over the weekend...

Cipro is a fluoroqinalone, and is not the best choice for an intestinal infection. Ordinary over-the-counter pepto bismal would have been more appropriate. Bismuth is a powerful bactricidal agent.
Cipro has many side effects and was not an appropriate. In Mexico, what is labled "Cipro" could be anything from powdered dog dung to flour and insecticide.
I'm a 54 year old male and have had similar experience with both doxycycline and cipro. The first time I had a prostititis attack cipro didn't work and doxycycline helped me after 2 full weeks. 18 months later I'm having another bout, this time its the other way around - Doxycycline didn't help and cipro seems to be working after 2 weeks.
Are you taking Flomax too? My prostititis problems seemed to start when I went on Flomax.
I have read about overgrowth and did take cipro 500 mg daily for 5 days and came out of being so weak I could hardly walk episode!..the dr said just try and it helped..thank you! I know taking antibiotics when no fever or culture sounds questionable but it did help a few months ago.....I am in pain a lot but when I am really weak..I wonder if something else is going on..
I know she has a regular partner and I also know they have an open relationship but she assured me she always uses protection for anything other than oral. I know that the risk for stds are low and I feel certain that I did not contract gonorrhea or ngu due to never having any symptoms. My reason for posting is that recently I have had the urge to urinate constantly with bladder pressure and have been very uncomfortable when sitting.
Grace how right you were...cipro has don't nothing for me should have listened to you, anyway today I finally had some illy white discharge, and I have some very very sore possibly swollen testicles, I could really use and opinion on these symtoms, also still have the pain after urination now and then. From what I have Read looks like it could be NGU? I did test neg, for gon and chlamydia remember. I need all the info I can get as I am going to the doctor tomorrow!
Perhaps this is not the right venue, as I'm certain I don't have an STD because there was no encounter. However, I am showing signs of urethritis. I won't get into specifics, but likely due to introducing old masturbation toys. Cipro is not recommended, I believe due to it's ineffectiveness against other STD's.
If the NGU is not from and STD, would the drug be effective?
I have no problem in emptying completely.
I also took Xifaxan simultaneously for the IBS 500 mg 3 times daily for 10 days. The Cipro seemed to help the joint pain but the two compounded the GI symptoms. I started having allergic type reactions to every food I ate, presumably an immune response to increased permeability associated with gut irritation. After I finished the Cipro, the joint pain returned along with some mild urethral irritation. I am allergic to Flagyl, so from what I've read my next option will be doxycycline.
Usually for a sinus infection, Cipro is prescribed for 10 days—I am not sure how long the doctor prescribed for you to take it. If you started on Thursday and you are not feeling better, you should call your doctor today (Monday) or Tuesday. Tuesday would be approximately half way through the course and you should see some relief from your infection.
I tested negative for Chlamydia and Gonorrhea through a urine test about a month after my exposure. However I had been taking Cipro (for Prostatitis) for about two weeks prior to testing. I keep thinking the Cipro supressed or killed the Chlamydia and Gonorrhea prior to testing, so maybe I did have something and gave it to my wife. I also tested negative for HIV 10 weeks after my exposure. I'm still having daily headaches (over a month now) as well as rashes.
Thank you for your comments. My husband uses the LoFric catherers and disposes of it after one use. He uses sterile wipes as well. He is a diabetic and does have problems controlling his sugar levels which I do know can lead to UTI problems as well. He will see his urologist this week - has been out of the hospital 2 weeks and already has another UTI. It is very frustrating and difficult for him to deal with.
So I was prescribed Cipro, but I had an allergic reaction to it. So now I am on Keflex 4x a day for 7 days. Today is 2nd day, I still feel the pain. I am thinking that my bacteria is now resistant to antibiotics after taking so many. Does anyone have experience with this? Could it be a kidney stone lodge in the right part of my urethra?
