Im traveling in mexico and got pretty sick (my best guess is it was 'Travelers Diarrhea' or maybe food poisioning) I went to the pharmacy and got 500mg Cipro pills. I took one and got a horrible headache and vomitted alot. My symptoms seem to be gone however would it be a bad idea to stop taking the Cipro? I know people say you should always finish a course of antibiotics but in this case I dont know if I need them.
Also, I am being treated with Cipro, which I just took a round of that for a UT about 2.5 months ago. Should I be repeating the same antibotic so soon, and will it be as effective if I do.

I have problems with UTI and kidney infections on a regular basis. I have been on Cipro on and off since 1994. Cipro has allways worked very well for me. I have not experienced side effects from this drug. I have had other antibiotics prescribed to me that did have some negative side effects. In my case Sulfa drugs causes hives.
From 1994 up to 2003, I used to come down with UTI and kidney infections that required hospitalizations with a frequency of about every 3 to 4 months.
Yes Cipro can definately cause rythm issues. I cant remember where I read this but my doctor was going to give it to me until I showed him the info (that he did not have himself). So yes---In fact--since you brought it up--I have a new group called side effects of medications. Feel free to post your side effects there.
is it safe to take 125 mg of cipro each day for 6 months I was prescribed this for a UTI that keeps coming back. Also the pharmacy that filled the prescription gave me 250mg tablets and told me they aren't made in 125mg. and for me to break in half . But the info that comes with the meds says not to break.crush, or chew.
I have seen a doctor about this twice and was on cipro for a month and doxycycline for a month (cipro in March, doxy in May), neither of which have cured the problem (my symptoms are minor now, but still present). Also, while on cipro, I developed a white coating on my tongue that really hasn't gone away since. It just seems whiter than usual and brushing doesn't wipe it out entirely (worried it could be thrush?).

I had a bladder suspension 6 years ago and to my knowledge I had no problems up until now..
In the last 3 months I have had 2 severe bladder infections to the point where my blood pressure went super low.
this last one put me down for 3 days..sleeping body aches fever etc. I have never been a sickly person so I question if the suspension could be the problem.
I stopped Metronidizole,and I finished Clarithromycin course....and started Cipro for 10 days..... ON 5/10 I made HIV test (HIV anti body,antigen,serum test) and it was negative. After that I had swollen gland on my neck for a week,but it was mild.....I went to another urologist after finishing cipro,he made telescope for the prostate and he found nothing,but till now..the situation still the same....
About 1 wk later i developed a uti went onto doxycycline 100mg bo and cipro 500mg bo both for 7days and a single dose azithromycin 1g needless to say these antibiotics made me really sick. Diarrhea mailaise,

3 weeks ago I was prescribed Ciproflaxcin for a prostatsis, I took the Cipro for about a week and a half when I about 5 days into the prescription I began to experience major burning pain in my muscles, joints, and neck. After day 9 the pain was unbearable so I stopped and three days later went to the ER for treatment, I told them I had a bad reaction to the Cipro so they changed my prescription to Bactrim which almost immediately dropped my pain level from a level of 8 to a 2 on a 1-10 scale.
If someone has a history of UTI's and has no health insurance, why won't a doctor give a patient a refill? For two days i took some Keflex twice a day that I had left over. It wasnt helping , I found a bottle of cipro I had left over and I took one. Thats it. I self medicated and took 900mg oral suspension azithromycin which i had left over from a previous unrelated prescription. On Wednesday morning..aproximately 12-15 hours after taking azithromycin i had unprotected sex with my partner. I still had some discomfort today(friday) and went to the clinic. They said i probably have unspecifified urethritis, and sent my urine sample to the lab for Gonorrhea and Chlymidia testing...and also prescribed me with 500mg Cipro x 2 a day for 10 days...
