Common Questions and Answers about Cipro malaria

cipro

1580703 tn?1651904887 I travelled to Indonesia and soon became sick with an infection, migraine, fever, diarrhea, nausea and was treated with cipro. 1 month after returning to the US I began to have chronic fatigue, sleep apnea, asthma, wheezing and I've been tired for over a year. I had high blood sugar but it has been normal now for a few weeks on medication. I had an IGE that was about 145 and low IGG subset 3, high WBC, normal EOS%.
Avatar f tn I tried a week of Cipro as I was sure I had a UTI (my fever started the day after sex), and my pain went away but my fever and fatigue remain. I am seeing an Infectious Disease Doctor in 4 weeks. But in the meantime my "fever" runs between normal (98) and 100.5 every day and my exhaustion is making it almost impossible to lead a normal life. My GYN has suggested Estrogen as my FSH is 66 (post-menopausal). However I can't find evidence that low estrogen causes fever?
Avatar n tn Update Went to doc, did a regular urinalysis which was clear, told me it was prostatitis, I explained the nature of the encounter and the timeline from that poin on to them, prescribed me cipro for 4 weeks on 12/2/09. Took the cipro, sysmptoms went away, finished cipro, came back 12 days later, which was last week. I took the doxy again, 2 pills twice a day, today is my last day.
Avatar m tn I went to the doctor and was given Cipro. The next several days I was basically bed-ridden with a constant fever that spiked to 102.6 F and was fevered round the clock. Around the 4th day I began to feel better and my temp. gradually was reduced. However, in the late afternoon and every afternoon since, my fever begins to climb again. By around 6:00 p.m. it is generally anywhere from 100.5 - 101.6 F.
Avatar f tn You might just have West Nile which is very very common in Canada..see a doctor as soon as possible!
Avatar n tn t go to visit a Chinese doc because I will need to include a co-worker for translation. However, I do suffer from diverticulitis occasionally and I travel with prescriptions of Cipro 500mg and Flagyl. I started taking both 2 days ago. Not sure if there is any improvement, but I think so. OK, so I am stupid obviously, but I have researched some and know that a one time 500mg dose of Cipro was a treatment option for gonorrhea up until about 5 years ago, and now it has become resistant.
Avatar n tn Malaria infection in pregnant women can be more severe than in nonpregnant women. Malaria can increase the risk for adverse pregnancy outcomes, including prematurity, spontaneous abortion, and stillbirth. For these reasons, and because no chemoprophylactic regimen is completely effective, women who are pregnant or likely to become pregnant should be advised to avoid travel to areas with malaria transmission if possible (see Chapter 8, Pregnant Travelers).

Avatar f tn 26/6 begins with intermittent low grade fever, chill, profuse sweating, epigastric and liver pain, nausea. Previous episode of malaria diagnosed on 1/6 cleared with coartem and ciprolex. Blood taken on 28/6 showed negative result on malaria(unknown test method) Symptom persists until now. What is the appropriate plan? Is it the partial immunity causing negative result?
Avatar m tn Im traveling in mexico and got pretty sick (my best guess is it was 'Travelers Diarrhea' or maybe food poisioning) I went to the pharmacy and got 500mg Cipro pills. I took one and got a horrible headache and vomitted alot. My symptoms seem to be gone however would it be a bad idea to stop taking the Cipro? I know people say you should always finish a course of antibiotics but in this case I dont know if I need them.
Avatar f tn Also, I am being treated with Cipro, which I just took a round of that for a UT about 2.5 months ago. Should I be repeating the same antibotic so soon, and will it be as effective if I do.

Avatar f tn Hi, I have problems with UTI and kidney infections on a regular basis. I have been on Cipro on and off since 1994. Cipro has allways worked very well for me. I have not experienced side effects from this drug. I have had other antibiotics prescribed to me that did have some negative side effects. In my case Sulfa drugs causes hives. From 1994 up to 2003, I used to come down with UTI and kidney infections that required hospitalizations with a frequency of about every 3 to 4 months.
Avatar m tn Yes Cipro can definately cause rythm issues. I cant remember where I read this but my doctor was going to give it to me until I showed him the info (that he did not have himself). So yes---In fact--since you brought it up--I have a new group called side effects of medications. Feel free to post your side effects there.
Avatar n tn is it safe to take 125 mg of cipro each day for 6 months I was prescribed this for a UTI that keeps coming back. Also the pharmacy that filled the prescription gave me 250mg tablets and told me they aren't made in 125mg. and for me to break in half . Avatar f tn You will be surprised to know that headache is an important symptom of both cerebral (brain fever) malaria and normal extra cerebral malaria. Some antimalarial drugs can cause headaches. In addition, many patients of malaria suffer from postmalaria neurologic syndrome of which headache is one of the important symptoms. It is difficult to comment beyond this at this stage. Do consult your doctor at the earliest. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
