I am taking cipro for 21 days for a skin infection. I also take zantac for my acid reflux. The cipro label says no antiacids, but specificly does not list ranitidine, the main ingredient in zantac. Can I take my zantac or not, is my question, as I have terrible acid reflux because of nsaids that I take for back and shoulder pain.

Both Cipro and Levaquin are drugs of a class known as quinolones. Of the two Cipro has the least side effects. The sore muscles may last for weeks or months or you may feel better in a few days. With that class of drugs there are ocasional reports of permanent tendon damage. This does not mean they should not be used. It is a matter of risk and benefit.
Had you been exercising at the gym non stop and got the muscle soreness when taking the cipro, then yes, I would have suspected that may have been a side effect from the cipro.
Whilst you are ill with an infection and on an antibiotic, you should not be doing strenuous exercises anyway. You should give your body time to heal and take things easy. Also by exercising you may have been further spreading the bacteria around your system.
Last October my doc put me on a 8-week course of Cipro, but even during those 8 weeks, I felt like I was having mild flare ups. Two days after ending the treatment, I had terrible recurrence -- the worst yet. I went on another 6 week course, and my next test showed no e.coli. But I had another terrible bout only a week later. That cycle has repeated itself a couple of times.
Cipro could cure gonorrhea, but it's resistant now in most countries, and cipro won't cure anything else. Pay attention to side effects with Cipro - there are many, and some can be serious.
Oral sex is lower risk than vaginal or anal sex, though it's not no risk.
A fissure is possible from fingering, since it's just a break in skin or tissue. That could cause the infection. A boil would be unrelated.

Im traveling in mexico and got pretty sick (my best guess is it was 'Travelers Diarrhea' or maybe food poisioning) I went to the pharmacy and got 500mg Cipro pills. I took one and got a horrible headache and vomitted alot. My symptoms seem to be gone however would it be a bad idea to stop taking the Cipro? I know people say you should always finish a course of antibiotics but in this case I dont know if I need them.
Also, I am being treated with Cipro, which I just took a round of that for a UT about 2.5 months ago. Should I be repeating the same antibotic so soon, and will it be as effective if I do.
I took 1 dose of 500mg Cipro Friday night at 5:30p.m. Immediately felt flushed and red in the face.
I continue to have flare ups 3 days later. How long does this take to go away.

I have problems with UTI and kidney infections on a regular basis. I have been on Cipro on and off since 1994. Cipro has allways worked very well for me. I have not experienced side effects from this drug. I have had other antibiotics prescribed to me that did have some negative side effects. In my case Sulfa drugs causes hives.
From 1994 up to 2003, I used to come down with UTI and kidney infections that required hospitalizations with a frequency of about every 3 to 4 months.
Yes Cipro can definately cause rythm issues. I cant remember where I read this but my doctor was going to give it to me until I showed him the info (that he did not have himself). So yes---In fact--since you brought it up--I have a new group called side effects of medications. Feel free to post your side effects there.
is it safe to take 125 mg of cipro each day for 6 months I was prescribed this for a UTI that keeps coming back. Also the pharmacy that filled the prescription gave me 250mg tablets and told me they aren't made in 125mg. and for me to break in half . But the info that comes with the meds says not to break.crush, or chew.
Minerals that should be avoided when taking Cipro are iron, calcium, zinc and stomach remedies and also coffee. The antibiotic instructions leaflet does give advice and warnings as to regard to what to avoid, whether it be some types of food, other medications, mineral supplements and also whether to avoid sunshine as this can cause adverse skin reactions.
I have never heard of natural yogurt not being good for anyone (expect those who have an intolerance to lactose and whey).
though bactrim may be masking the uti so he gave me 4 days of cipro. also, i went to my gyno to rule out anything else, they did vaginal ultrasound and all was normal. finished cirpo, pain is still present, as is urgency. i will occasionally have a day when symptoms subside, but then return the next day. got referral to urologist but they cannot see me until 14 days from now. please help...any ideas????
3 weeks ago I was prescribed Ciproflaxcin for a prostatsis, I took the Cipro for about a week and a half when I about 5 days into the prescription I began to experience major burning pain in my muscles, joints, and neck. After day 9 the pain was unbearable so I stopped and three days later went to the ER for treatment, I told them I had a bad reaction to the Cipro so they changed my prescription to Bactrim which almost immediately dropped my pain level from a level of 8 to a 2 on a 1-10 scale.
If someone has a history of UTI's and has no health insurance, why won't a doctor give a patient a refill? Why do I have to pay anywhere between $100 - $200 to go to the bathroom in a cup to confirm what I already know is true because I have had UTI's many times before. At a desperate attempt, I brought all the empty bottles of cipro and other drugs prescribed for my past UTI's to show that this wasn't something I was making up. I hoped the Dr.
For two days i took some Keflex twice a day that I had left over. It wasnt helping , I found a bottle of cipro I had left over and I took one. Thats it. A few days ago my boyfriend starts having symptoms of chlamydia or gonnerea ureathra hurting, discharge etc. I have no symptoms. We have only slept together once in the last couple weeks. It is now about a year later, and I am having pain in my left testicle again. I do not have health insurance and got a friend to prescribe Cipro for me to clear up my infection. After reading the new black box warning on Cipro I am very nervous and reluctant to take it, mainly because of the reports of sudden tendon rupture. I started taking Cipro a week ago. 6/5/09. I noticed my energy to be low and my joint and tendons to be stiff and sore.

so i was diagnosed with a uti and prescribed ciprofloxacin i have to note that i have taken cipro once before and had no adverse effects that i can remember, i have now taken 3 cipro pills out of the 10 prescribed and i noticed some pain in the Achilles tendon area, but on the other hand i work in roofing and i was having to jump over some parapet walls on the roof and such i received my prescription for cipro 5/25/16 it is now 5/26/16 8:40 pm, as i said before the first time i took cipr
