I have just found out that being on CIPRO for the last 8 days may give a false result of a swab test for gonerrehea, clamydia, and trich. My doctor here in Spain is a complete idiot, he priscribed me CIPRO after my urine test was negative (not for STD) he was aware that I had been with a Prostitute with protected sex. The doctor should know there is no point as the CIPRO will mask any STD´s. My symptoms of burning has not disappered?
is it safe to take 125 mg of cipro each day for 6 months I was prescribed this for a UTI that keeps coming back. Also the pharmacy that filled the prescription gave me 250mg tablets and told me they aren't made in 125mg. and for me to break in half . But the info that comes with the meds says not to break.crush, or chew.

I have problems with UTI and kidney infections on a regular basis. I have been on Cipro on and off since 1994. Cipro has allways worked very well for me. I have not experienced side effects from this drug. I have had other antibiotics prescribed to me that did have some negative side effects. In my case Sulfa drugs causes hives.
From 1994 up to 2003, I used to come down with UTI and kidney infections that required hospitalizations with a frequency of about every 3 to 4 months.
Be careful with using Cipro and other antibiotics and use it only as directed by your Physician. I was misdiagnoised with a urinary tract infection that time showed it wasn't and was prescribed Cipro. This drug and others in its class have a nasty side effect - mine was labral tears of the right shoulder and right hip.

Yes Cipro can definately cause rythm issues. I cant remember where I read this but my doctor was going to give it to me until I showed him the info (that he did not have himself). I am being treated for a urinary infections with both antibiotics (Cipro) and antivirals (valtrex) because the cause is unknown.
My question is, is it safe to mix both medicines?
I am having 2+ blood in urine. my blood test, ultrasound & ct scan in normal.
(I was given a course of cipro without my Naturopathic Doc doing a urinalysis because I was going out of town the day after my symptoms began). I took the cipro (it was a short dose- 3 days, taken 2 times per day), and started to feel better. Then about a week later symptoms came back, tried to treat it naturally and then decided to try the cipro again. After this something still didn't feel right and I suggested a kidney infection as I had started having some back pain.
I went to the ER 5 times and was prescribed 3 different antibiotics and given antibiotics in house for STDs that came back with a negative result. In early November, I had a UTI and was given Cipro for 3 days. That did not help. I went back and they gave me Cipro for 10 days. That did not help. Then they gave me Levaquin for 7 days. I finished all of the antibiotics but I am still experiencing flank pain (upper abdominal, lower pelvic area, and upper and lower back).

I went to a CVs minute clinic where they confirmed and prescribed me 14 days(28) cipro antibiotic pills. After finishing the prescription I had pain in ny penis both erect and flaccid. Sometimes severe when erect. My penis rapidly took on a 90 degree upward curve that and I now have Peyronie's. Was it the cipro that caused the Peyronie's? And since this progressed so rapidly is there a better chance of reversing it. Before this my penis was perfectly straight.
At about 3 weeks I developed a mild sore throat and sometimes a feeling of pressure in the ears. I went to see my GP and he prescribed me. Cipro for 5 days....then Amoxicillan Augmentin for 10 days....and then finally Doxcylcline for 10 days. The symptoms have not gone away....and some days the symptoms are very mild and I feel it has gone away.....only to come back again. (1) Would the antibacterial treatments I received have cleared gonorrhea in the throat?
m guessing it just your anxiety bro, i also have the same experience like you and got myself an urine test, my doctor said that the discharge is actually the white blood cells that tried to clear the Gon/Chlam bacteria and it would show up in the test result in a high index and it is normal to have a few bacteria and small number of white blood cells. I am not a doctor and i'm just sharing my experience, hope you fine bro and keep safe.
All ranges of my urine were negative. I was put on am on cipro as it seems to help, but not fully in terms of the urge to urinate. So I told my self this is mostly likely in my head and then the next day my symptoms went away once I believe this was in my head. In fact, since i am worrying about NGU, my lower penis area is tingling again even though i had no syptoms for five days.
Also note, the 37 girl who I received oral from says she got tested and said she is clean of STDs.
I hope you haven't been taking Cipro for two years! If so, talk to your doctor, that's way too long. But hopefully I just misunderstood you. In any case, I do not think it was the antibacterial medicine that is doing this to you. It can cause nervousness, like caffeine does to people if they drink too much, and rarely a seizure, but neither of those are like what you describe.

Went to doc, did a regular urinalysis which was clear, told me it was prostatitis, I explained the nature of the encounter and the timeline from that poin on to them, prescribed me cipro for 4 weeks on 12/2/09. Took the cipro, sysmptoms went away, finished cipro, came back 12 days later, which was last week. I took the doxy again, 2 pills twice a day, today is my last day.
