Common Questions and Answers about Effects of cipro in pregnancy

cipro

Avatar f tn Any long term use of antibiotics cause porblems. In my case it has presented itself in the form of yeast infections. Very difficult to get under control, however it would have happened with another antibiotic as well. One antibiotic that really effected me was Flagyl. I was being treated for a strep B infection of my left testicle, as it had become necrotic. I nearly died from it and had no choice but use the Flagyl.
Avatar n tn Do cipro cause vaginal discharge and oder and disconfort in my stomach and back and sluggishness? This discussion is related to Discomfort after taking Cipro.
Avatar m tn So yes---In fact--since you brought it up--I have a new group called side effects of medications. Feel free to post your side effects there.
Avatar m tn My symptoms seem to be gone however would it be a bad idea to stop taking the Cipro? I know people say you should always finish a course of antibiotics but in this case I dont know if I need them.
Avatar f tn I was given Cipro for possible salmonella, and am concerned about all of the side effects I have been reading about. Is this a safe drug? I woke up with anxiety and some stiffness this morning, and am scared it's going to get worse. Please help.
Avatar m tn What are some side effects of Cipro. I was on cipro for a month and it was terrible. My face felt flushed, burning sensation on my back. When I was almost done with it, I started to get this wierd ache feeling in my butt that still exist today. Anybody expirenced this whil and after cipro antibiotics?
Avatar m tn How during the course of it , i have difficulty in breathing and had dey theoat and mouth which i thought should be the normal side effects of the medication. However after completing the course of the drug , i felt nerve pain on my eyes , thighs , groin area , legs , arms. And muscles weakness. Doctors run through many scans and could not find a problem with me. As i read on the net that cipro causing many adverse effects like permanent damage on the tendons , nerves , tissues.
443434 tn?1255891233 If there are thousands of people reporting the same side effects after taking cipro then the most parsimonious explanation is that the conditions are in fact side effects of cipro. Quit letting the drug reps educate you. Do your own due diligence and be what you are supposed to be....a scientist applying science to human health.
Avatar f tn Are you pregnant? Macrobid is pregnancy category B--- used in pregnancy. Cipro, the gold standard is pregnancy category C--- not the best choice for someone who is pregnant. Amoxicillin isn't the best choice at all for a UTI based on the common bacteria that causes UTI's. Every infection is caused by a specific strain of bacteria. Some antibiotics are going to work better on different strains of bacteria.
Avatar f tn Cipro has a lot of side effects. Have you looked them up? I am not saying come off it but what you are experiencing could be from that. It stays in your system long after you take it. Are you still taking pain meds? I can't remember if Cipro causes constipation but pain meds do for sure. Are you taking any stool softeners to help? Ginger or peppermint tea help a lot with bloating as well as a heating blanket. When you mean blocked do you mean constipated blocked?
Avatar m tn so i was diagnosed with a uti and prescribed ciprofloxacin i have to note that i have taken cipro once before and had no adverse effects that i can remember, i have now taken 3 cipro pills out of the 10 prescribed and i noticed some pain in the Achilles tendon area, but on the other hand i work in roofing and i was having to jump over some parapet walls on the roof and such i received my prescription for cipro 5/25/16 it is now 5/26/16 8:40 pm, as i said before the first time i took cipr
Avatar m tn t usually prescribe but given that it have taken Cipro 250mg in the past (or urinary tract infection with no side effects. Is Cipro as effective as other antibiotics for dental infection?
Avatar f tn I was prescribed leviquin for bronchitis and sinus infection after a prior antibiotic didn't work. I was also put on a steroid (dextremethisone) something like that. It was a 10 day treatment. The first couple doses made my heart feel like it was coming out of my chest, that passed.

Avatar m tn My experience is anecdotal, but significant. I cannot tolerate Levaquin at all, but take Cipro without any side effects. I know at least four other individuals with the same tolerance for Cipro.
Avatar m tn That is an excellent question, since both antibiotics are fluoroquinalones, the same class of drugs. It is not a good idea to take a "lot of these drugs". Tendon rupture and horrible aches and pains for months can result. People have different genetic tolerances. I can tolerate Cipro, for example, however Levofloxacin caused me terrible problems for almost eight months. Getting back to your question the answer is "probably", but not absolutely positively. .
Avatar m tn Both Cipro and Levaquin are drugs of a class known as quinolones. Of the two Cipro has the least side effects. The sore muscles may last for weeks or months or you may feel better in a few days. With that class of drugs there are ocasional reports of permanent tendon damage. This does not mean they should not be used. It is a matter of risk and benefit.
Avatar m tn I thought maybe it was just the house cleaner used too much detergent. Later that day I took another pill of cipro. This time I noticed again after 30 minutes the sensation were strong and the itch burning. I have stopped taking cipro for 2 days now and the skin has stopped itching but is still blotchy and flaking (not quite peeling). I've never had anything like this before and I can surely attribute it to the drug.

798555 tn?1292787551 The warning applies to drugs of the fluoroquinolone class, including Cipro, Cipro XR, Proquin XR, Levaquin, Floxin, Noroxin, Avelox, Factive, and marketed generics." http://www.webmd.com/osteoarthritis/news/20080708/fda-warning-cipro-may-rupture-tendons ******************** "Apparently there has been a change to the Black Box Warning for Floroquinolones.
Avatar n tn After the 2 weeks I improved alittle but I was still in alot of disconfort. The urologist took me off of cipro and told me to wait and see if I recovered more!? which scared since I knew I was not cured. After 2 days a got worse again and called the doc....He put me on Bactrim for 2 weeks which really did not do anything for me...after bactrim he put me again on cipro and after 2 weeks a i developed prostatitis which is basically an infection in the prostate.
867582 tn?1311627397 I will say that Cipro was, indeed, effective at zapping my infection. However, after reading about the many dangerous side effects of Cipro (which is a fluoroquinolone) I will say to everyone here (especially those over 60 and/or those on NSAIDs): Please, have your doctor consider a different antibiotic before using any that are in the fluoroquinolone category!!!
Avatar m tn A week and a half into taking the antibiotic I began to feel burning muscle pain as well as neck and joint pain. I also had my appetite killed with Cipro I really didn’t eat in that period. Prior to this I had none of these symptoms and when I stopped taking Cipro and started taking the bactrim the pains I had originally were reduced by a large amount. They are still there but not as vivid as when I was taking Cipro. My appetite has returned.
Avatar m tn Hello. About 4 years ago after lifting a heavy item I had some left testicle pain that was diagnosed as epididymitis, the doctor at the time told me to take Advil and go easy for a while and it cleared up a few weeks later. 2 years ago I had left testicle pain, a different doctor did an ultrasound to check for a hernia and when it came back negative gave me the same advice and it cleared up in a few weeks.
Avatar f tn Yes, I will NEVER take any levaquin or any others in that family. Had terrible side effects, had to go to ER. I think these are very powerful antibiotics... should be used only as last resort. Good luck to all!
Avatar n tn No painful urination or weird discharge, just pain in the testicles that shoots up into my abdomen, and swelling of the epididymis (obviously). I was tested for STDs (even though I'm celibate), and nothing was found. I also had an ultrasound, which came back normal. My doctor suspected random (endemic?) bacteria as the cause. I've had 2 rounds of 500mg Cipro twice a day. The first round was for 14 days, the second round was for 7. These two rounds were separated by a week.
Avatar n tn Unfortunately, the side-effects of Levaquin and other quinolones such as Cipro can last for months or longer. I took Cipro 6 months ago and I'm still experiencing full body tendonitis, joint pain, muscle pain and weakness, tingling and burning sensations, stabbing pains, and more. The insomnia went away after about 6 weeks for me. I am a 36 year old female, and was very active and physically fit. There are some great forums you can check out on Yahoo that will be helpful to you.
