Avatar f tn Green stool is sometimes caused because your passing the stool too quickly and its not getting enough time to change color(To the normal brown) spasms will cause stool to move quicker than normal and to come out green. You can have stool move really fast and not be diarrhea. What you have is very common with IBS-A or also known as spastic colon. An ultrasound will detect if you have any blocked ducts that are creating the green stool, but I bet that will come back negative.
716841 tn?1289948186 The stool can become green on taking food rich in green leafy vegetables. If this is not the cause, then the stool is passing out of the large intestine at a very rapid rate so the bile does not break down. This can happen if you have malabsoroption syndromes. A viral infection can change the stool color to dark bottle green color. Do discuss this with your doctor and get yourself examined. Hope this helps. It is difficult to comment beyond this at this stage.

Avatar f tn I am 33 weeks and around the same time I had green stool. It's actually perfectly normal and means you must be eating more iron or salad or greens. Usually green stool is a good sign. But you can check with you doctor if you're concerned. I had it though and it went away about a week later.
Avatar f tn I am in my early fifties and for the first time ever I have noticed that my stool has been a forest green for the past week. I take no medications, have a balanced diet, probably at least a 50/50 ratio poultry/fish to veggies and am post menaposal. I feel fine, no discomfort or abdominal pain.
Avatar n tn If that green color was from bile, you'd probably feel some anal burning during bm.
Avatar f tn Second we usually think of healthy stool being brown but stool is actually green before its brown due to bile being in the small intestine and as the green stool passes thru the large intestine over time it turns Brown. So If your stool was green ir could mean that it just passed thru the intestine too quickly for it to turn Brown. Its happend to me many many times. Hope that answers your question!
Avatar n tn Why is my stool green? I will be 50 years old shortly. I am on no medications and have no health problems that I am aware of. Periodically, (like once last year & then a couple of times this month) my stool is grass green, usual normal consistency, & stays that way for a few days. What would cause this?
Avatar n tn s and had green stool for about a week, ya a hole week of green stools, with mild cramping. They should put a warning sign upin front saying "PURPLE CHIPS WILL GIVE YOU GREEN POOP" This discussion is related to Green stool.
Avatar m tn Usually green stool is an indication that you are getting a lot of chlorofyl in your system from green vegetables, and shouldn't be a concern. But, (and pardon my being so graphic) does your stool float, too? This is a sign of giardia, which you can pick up from your dog, cat, handling shoes that were in a watery area outside, just about anywhere. If this persists, and/or if the stool is green and floats, you will need to see a doctor for a diagnosis and a pill that will knock it out.
Avatar f tn the more you have in you, the more your body can push out whatever its not liking. the most common causes of green stool are food coloring and excess fiber, but it does depend on what kind of green youre talking about. if its very slimy and not like normal diarrhea, its most likey bile, stomach acids, etc. if its an acceptable consistency, looks like youd expect it to, and just tinted, its most likely fiber or food colorings.
Avatar n tn green stool is usually an indication of an infection somewhere. Your body is trying to fight it off. Depending on which infection, you may feel fine, but you should be checked as it could be something underlying that should be addressed.
Avatar f tn I'm 8 weeks a long and recently started taking Rx prenatal vitamins. For the past week I've been experiencing loose dark green stool accompanied by a stomach ache. I changed up my diet a little as well eating more green veggies. Is this normal?

Avatar m tn i have had my stool be green for the past 4 days now its a solid stool shpuld i be conserned
Avatar n tn If your diarrhea is not so bad or explosive, but rather mild, then it is even more probably from parasites, like Giardia - these infections strat slowly and without proper treatment extend through weeks. Burping (may have sulpurous smell) and yellow/green diarrhea is often in Giardia. Diarrhea is not likely from antibiotics. Food poisoning may start with chills and fever and only after few days continue with diarrhea.
Avatar m tn I have been recently experiencing green stool for about 3 weeks. I am a body builder and take many supplements, but none that contain iron. I do not have abdominal pain, nor do I have diarhea. just green poop. what else could be causing this?
572521 tn?1217226838 Has your doc specifically done a stool culture for D Diff and toxins A/B? Talk to your doc and soon - get off the Cipro. Flagyl will target the bugs specifically, if in fact this is what you have. Best of luck.
Avatar m tn A couple of months ago, I was misdiagnosed with a urinary tract infection and was put on 2 weeks of cipro, 1000 mg a day. During my time on cipro, I noticed an intense stomach gurgling that would sometimes persist for hours. I didn't think much of it at the time though. Since coming off of the cipro, I have had abdominal pain, sometimes in the lower left abdomen and sometimes in the lower right abdomen.
