My 7y girl has had uti for three years and has several types of antibiotics last one was amoxicillin/clavulanic acid,57mg. She now has Pseudomonas and doctor wants to give her cipro. think I should handle this differantly?
Is there anything else that I can do in treating the pseudomonas. I wake up every morning full of congestion in my chest and cough for about 2 hrs in the morning and then through out the day. It is a productive cough.

same problem over here,now im going for 4th surgery wish will open all sinuses and then going for heawy treatman with antibiotics..in your and any ones case test your self with long specialist for lung cistyse fibrosis as thei cause lung infections and polyps together with pseudomonas bacterie..only adequate ventilation+antibiotics can remove theis bacterie from body,nothing else...in case of lung cistyse fibrisys =sorry no cure...
Folks, I have been treating pseudomonas ears for several years now and Cipro alone doesn't work - you will also need 3 injections of Rocephin - 3 days in a row, as this is the drug of choice for pseudomonas. As for not getting your ear wet - you can make a mixture of white vinegar and rubbing alcohol - equal parts and put 3-4 drops your ear(s) after getting water in the ears and this will kill the bacteria. I have ALWAUS been very healthy, until this sinus/ear/pseudomonas crap! The Infectious Desease Dr. Ran test on me for mono/ HIV-1 & HIV-2, among many other tests ALL of the blood work came bsvk neg. As of today I had another culture extracted in office to send to the lab, my sinuses are still inflamed and I am starting ANOTHER round of steroids to help. And at least get me thru until next week when I go back to my ENT to see what the results of the culture are.
I first blew my nose into my fingers and then scraped my fingers to the edge/top of the collection container (which is actually a urine sample container) and i kept doing this a few times a day for a couple of days. I have found out that pseudomonas live on our skin naturally. I believe its the aeruginosa type. Im stuck right now because I dont know if the pseudomona is actually from my nose or if it came from my fingers. Im pretty sure the staph epidemitis came from my fingers.
My dad is 81 and has chronic pseudomonas infection in his lungs. He also has COPD. This is his 4th round of getting this infection in 3 years. He just got out of the hospital from a 5 day stay 3 weeks ago and did a 10 day pick line antibiotic. His Dr called today and he still has the infection. They are calling it a 4+ pseudomonas infection. (whatever that means). He has done every antibiotic there is (pill form, nebulizer, inhalers and pick line) for this and nothing is working anymore.
My wife has had chronic sinus infections for years. She was recently advised that a culture shows that pseudomonas bacteria is the culprit this time. However, she was also advised that she is allergic to all of the antibiotics used to kill the bacteria. Any suggestions?

I might have a prostate issue and sent me home a 7-day course of Cipro. I have been taking the Cipro for 36 hours (3-500mg doses) and have not realized any symptomatic relief thus far.He said to come back next week if the symptoms don't get better and he will send to a lab for some testing (not an easy task here on the island).
My questions are as follows:
1) Might have any insight as what might be causing these symtpoms? Prostatis? Non-specific urhtetris,a bladder infection, an STD? .
,and pseudomonas found in left maxillary sinus, ENT changed diagnosis. treated w/Cipro, no other f/u for fungal. I told them 3 wks postop that green thick exudate had returned w/smell, but they declared me "cured". ID refused to do another culture b/c ENT said in notes that I looked great. I got 2nd opinion from another ENT week ago. Definite fungal sinusitis, and I am feeling it. Tired, lots of discharge, hard to concentrate, eyesight worsening. He says need surgery again soon.
Recently, I discovered that I have had pseudomonas aeruginosa in my lungs for 9 years. I had thought that I had had this for 2-3 years. It has caused pneumonia that has been difficult to get rid of. I have been a patient at your facility in January, 2009, but no treatment was given to get rid of my pseudomonas. I really want this to be cured and know there has to be a way to cure it, even if it is a clinical trial. I am a 56 year old female.
I am in in the Air Force and have been deployed to the Middle East for about 4.5 months. I contracted what the doctors seem to think is Athlete's Foot about 3 months ago and have been recieving treatment that started out as Lotrimin cream, then Ketoconazole cream, Anti Fungal Powders, and now I have been on Diflucian (oral anti fungal) for the past 9 weeks.
cdc testing was wrong several times before i got my diagnosis for pseudomonas. wich required a throat culture .first one was wrong .3 swabs showed nothing.such b.s.half the drs dont even sample properly.send your samples to these people you will save money in the long run and save yourself a diagnoses of something ridiculous like reumatoid arthritis instead of finding the cause .than paying to treat a condition that wouldnt exist if you did not have this bacteria .
Thank you for responding to my question. It has been 12 days since I had root canal on #14. Took Cipro for 7 days. I'm still feeling lpain/discomfort on #14 and try not to chew on that side of mouth. How long does it for root canal to heal? Can and do root canal fail? What are symptoms of failed root canal. At the time of root canal Endodonist put temporary filled on crown. I have appoint with regular dentist for permanent filling in a week.
different trich infection than the std infection. trichomonas in a trach is not the same as trichomoniasis , the std.
if you are washing your hands after caring for this patient , you really aren't at risk for pseudomonas or trichomonas from their trach. If their trach secretions tend to fly out a lot, make sure you are using goggles when suctioning them. Same with it also helps protect you from mrsa too.
That liquid like ball is edema and depending on how large it is and that it is on the throat, a drain my be necessary. As for the Cipro....there are some very serious risk factors. If your pet has any of the MANY risk factors, giving Cipro can be deadly to your dog. If your pet is under 2 years old (assuming by the weight he is a medium or large breed)....do NOT under any circumstance give Cipro.
Please please take your dog to the vet so he is properly treated in a safe and humane way.

Saw my doctor because terrible irritation in penis tip, sore testicles and having to urinate all night. No burning when I pee or discharge but significant pain at tip. Doctor did first catch urine test; neg for leuk & nitrates, said it could be prostatis so he gave me 7 days of Cipro. Had a minor surgery a few days later so did not take it. The next week it got even worse, so went to urologist. Same symptoms but worse. Dr. asked if it could be std, I told him I doubt it...
is it safe to take 125 mg of cipro each day for 6 months I was prescribed this for a UTI that keeps coming back. Also the pharmacy that filled the prescription gave me 250mg tablets and told me they aren't made in 125mg. and for me to break in half . But the info that comes with the meds says not to break.crush, or chew.
Sorry, that is something I don't have experience with and not sure if it ties into Lyme disease.

I have problems with UTI and kidney infections on a regular basis. I have been on Cipro on and off since 1994. Cipro has allways worked very well for me. I have not experienced side effects from this drug. I have had other antibiotics prescribed to me that did have some negative side effects. In my case Sulfa drugs causes hives.
From 1994 up to 2003, I used to come down with UTI and kidney infections that required hospitalizations with a frequency of about every 3 to 4 months.
