I'm 32 and breastfeeding and being treated for mastitis without the Nurse Practioner ever looking at my breast. I had mastitis several times with my daughter and never once did I have the dimpling; I also always had a 101 fever with my mastitis. This started as a pea sized lump and I emailed the doctor's office. The nurse said it was likely a clogged duct, massage it. Now a little over a week later it's a half dollar size flat lump under my areola.
Im getting into fights with my babys father for really no reason at all. I also have mastitis, which i got on antibiotics 2 days ago and it has gotten worse. I cant even nurse or pump out of my right breast . Ive called the doctor n im waiting for them to call me back n im getting so frustrated its been an hour already! All because they know im not pregnant they dont think it could be that important ? Not sure...
I was then taking 12 pills a day including the Motrin 800mg. I was on the antibiotics for 13 weeks total. I have been off of them for 10 weeks. I had another ultrasound at some point during all of this that found mobile debris in my ducts. My lump is now about 9x6 cm, some swelling,the redness is gone and the tenderness has now turned to occasional sharp shooting pains and a pain that goes up the side of my breast into my underarm.
ive been told by the hospital sister and obs to start roughening up my nipples for breastfeeding but majority research tells me not to.. im a first time mom so I would really appreciate some help from experienced moms..
1- how many have just surface abcesses on the skin and no lumps? - No surface abscesses
2- how many have both surface abcesses and lumps? Just lumps, which were abscesses but not on the surface.
3- how many of you have had biopsy removals and recurring lumps in the same spot? Yes
4- has your mastitis started in one breast and moved to the other? Yes, started on left and moved to right.
Thank you for responding to my question. It has been 12 days since I had root canal on #14. Took Cipro for 7 days. I'm still feeling lpain/discomfort on #14 and try not to chew on that side of mouth. How long does it for root canal to heal? Can and do root canal fail? What are symptoms of failed root canal. At the time of root canal Endodonist put temporary filled on crown. I have appoint with regular dentist for permanent filling in a week.
That liquid like ball is edema and depending on how large it is and that it is on the throat, a drain my be necessary. As for the Cipro....there are some very serious risk factors. If your pet has any of the MANY risk factors, giving Cipro can be deadly to your dog. If your pet is under 2 years old (assuming by the weight he is a medium or large breed)....do NOT under any circumstance give Cipro.
Please please take your dog to the vet so he is properly treated in a safe and humane way.

Outside the US it is commonly used for puerperal and nonpuerperal cases, in the US the term nonpuerperal mastitis is rarely used and alternative names such as duct ectasia, SUBAREOLAR ABSCESS and plasma cell mastitis are more frequently used.
Chronic cystic mastitis is a different (older) name for fibrocystic disease.
So i was deciding not to BF any more but i wasnt sure when would be a good time, since i have mastitis and the medication that im on the ER dr told me to pump and dump for the next 10 days, so i figured this would be a good time to stop BF. My question is does the mastitis go away from the antibiotics or do i need to pump, I was hopn by me not pumping my supply would dry up and the mastitis would clear up from the antibiotics.
Mastitis is often a long road to recovery ..... 2 months is really no time at all when you're dealing with mastitis. I see no reason for an invasive procedure to remove the lump since you biopsies have resulted in benign findings. I can assure you that you may need to be on med.s for a few months more to conquer the mastitis.
Any body can ans what kind of side effects that has cipro to use for long time......
Saw my doctor because terrible irritation in penis tip, sore testicles and having to urinate all night. No burning when I pee or discharge but significant pain at tip. Doctor did first catch urine test; neg for leuk & nitrates, said it could be prostatis so he gave me 7 days of Cipro. Had a minor surgery a few days later so did not take it. The next week it got even worse, so went to urologist. Same symptoms but worse. Dr. asked if it could be std, I told him I doubt it...

I was diagnosed with Idiopathic Granulomatous Mastitis just a month ago. I had a normal mammogram back in Sept.2010, in early April my left breast was sore (but I didn't think much of it because I exercise), then one day my left nipple was inverted (which is abnormal for me), and that's when I felt a hard mass. I had a biopsy with ultrasound, later biopsy to get samples, then an excisional biospy 3 days ago. I'm in no pain, feel great which is so weird about all this.
I have been terrified lately that I have gotten mastitis from my boyfriend sucking on my nipple? It 's been a little over a week and it is very possible I am making the symptoms up in my head, but my left breast had begun to feel tender me a day after he sucked on it. It was only for about thirty seconds and then he stopped and then did it again. There was no blood, discharge, etc. Knock on wood I don't have a fever or feel ill, and there is no redness or lumps on my breast.
is it safe to take 125 mg of cipro each day for 6 months I was prescribed this for a UTI that keeps coming back. Also the pharmacy that filled the prescription gave me 250mg tablets and told me they aren't made in 125mg. and for me to break in half . But the info that comes with the meds says not to break.crush, or chew.

I have problems with UTI and kidney infections on a regular basis. I have been on Cipro on and off since 1994. Cipro has allways worked very well for me. I have not experienced side effects from this drug. I have had other antibiotics prescribed to me that did have some negative side effects. In my case Sulfa drugs causes hives.
From 1994 up to 2003, I used to come down with UTI and kidney infections that required hospitalizations with a frequency of about every 3 to 4 months.
