ive had this infection for 3 years now. it is recurrent. i have been on, cipro 500 for 10 days, cipro 500 for 1 month, Bactirum DS for 10 days, clindamycin solu. 5% alcorten gel (anti fungal, antibactieral) i also wash my hair with chlorhexidine gluconnate (hibaclens). i have seen a total of 4 doctors. and have an appointment for another which ill make 5 doctors total. all i need is something to get my by with the pain. i plan on the dermatologist taking care of the actual infection.
The next day, I went to see a dermatologist and he said its not herpes, its Folliculitis. He gave me a script for Doxycycline and a topical antibiotic. I am still very nervous about it being herpes. So far its been a total of 9 days and I am still breaking out with these big raised pimples on my buttocks and I have noticed its on my legs and on my upper waist as well. Shall I be worried? Is this any sort of STD? I still have the tingling on the tip of my penis as well.
I always try to practice safe sex. Over the past couple of months I have been treated for prostatitis using Doxy, Cipro, and Levaquin at any given time. 7 weeks ago I was on Doxy, then 1 week of Levaquin, and the past couple of weeks on Cipro.
I do allow stimulation of my scrotum via mouth, hence my question.
Over the past 7 weeks I have had a couple of guys lick my scrotum, and masturbate my penis with their hands.
My local doctor initially thought perhaps I had folliculitis and prescribed an antibiotic (Cipro 10 day course). Although this seemed to make things subside slightly, it didn't have much effect, and the problem is now back to how it was prior to the treatment.
Could this be some allergy? Any other ideas? I used to use quite a rough sponge to shower with, but I have just switched to a soft washcloth to see if that helps - could this condition just be caused by irritated skin?
For the past 4 weeks I have been treated for Prostatitis with Levaquin, Cipro and Doxi (not at the same time, first 2 weeks was Doxi, then week of levaquin, then switched to Cipro. I have been with a couple of guys over the past month, but the only thing I have engaged with is having them lick my scrotum, not penis to mouth oral. I do shave my scrotum, which is why I am not sure if this is a chancre or not.
Thank you for responding to my question. It has been 12 days since I had root canal on #14. Took Cipro for 7 days. I'm still feeling lpain/discomfort on #14 and try not to chew on that side of mouth. How long does it for root canal to heal? Can and do root canal fail? What are symptoms of failed root canal. At the time of root canal Endodonist put temporary filled on crown. I have appoint with regular dentist for permanent filling in a week.
That liquid like ball is edema and depending on how large it is and that it is on the throat, a drain my be necessary. As for the Cipro....there are some very serious risk factors. If your pet has any of the MANY risk factors, giving Cipro can be deadly to your dog. If your pet is under 2 years old (assuming by the weight he is a medium or large breed)....do NOT under any circumstance give Cipro.
Please please take your dog to the vet so he is properly treated in a safe and humane way.
Any body can ans what kind of side effects that has cipro to use for long time......
Saw my doctor because terrible irritation in penis tip, sore testicles and having to urinate all night. No burning when I pee or discharge but significant pain at tip. Doctor did first catch urine test; neg for leuk & nitrates, said it could be prostatis so he gave me 7 days of Cipro. Had a minor surgery a few days later so did not take it. The next week it got even worse, so went to urologist. Same symptoms but worse. Dr. asked if it could be std, I told him I doubt it...
is it safe to take 125 mg of cipro each day for 6 months I was prescribed this for a UTI that keeps coming back. Also the pharmacy that filled the prescription gave me 250mg tablets and told me they aren't made in 125mg. and for me to break in half . But the info that comes with the meds says not to break.crush, or chew.
Can it get rid of my folliculitis? If not, what if i leave all treatment and ignore the folliculitis? is there a chance that it will go away by itself and wont come back? If not then whats the permanent solution....

I have problems with UTI and kidney infections on a regular basis. I have been on Cipro on and off since 1994. Cipro has allways worked very well for me. I have not experienced side effects from this drug. I have had other antibiotics prescribed to me that did have some negative side effects. In my case Sulfa drugs causes hives.
From 1994 up to 2003, I used to come down with UTI and kidney infections that required hospitalizations with a frequency of about every 3 to 4 months.
I took 1 dose of 500mg Cipro Friday night at 5:30p.m. Immediately felt flushed and red in the face.
I continue to have flare ups 3 days later. How long does this take to go away.
No symptoms at all. The cipro and biaxin were not for stds, they were for a sinus infection. No pain, no discharge. I did get a yeast infection from the antibiotics, and wondered if that could have managed it's way to my urinary tract...but no burning, nothing like that. All of this seemed to be triggered from my masturbating without and ejaculation over the weekend...
On 11-22 i was diagnosed with a bladder infection and given cipro and two diflucan in case of a yeast infection started period. At this point i was now having some anal, vulva and pubic itching on both sides. I took the cipro and diflucan and the itching has gotten worse. I can go one day without itching but it will come right back.

Cipro is a fluoroqinalone, and is not the best choice for an intestinal infection. Ordinary over-the-counter pepto bismal would have been more appropriate. Bismuth is a powerful bactricidal agent.
Cipro has many side effects and was not an appropriate. In Mexico, what is labled "Cipro" could be anything from powdered dog dung to flour and insecticide.
I did go thru a long dosage of antibiotics -doxy and cipro for about 4-5 weeks in Jan...urologists felt it was prostatitis though the tests didnt show bacteria.
my CBC has been okay too...overall doctors do not suspect anything - but not sure why i have been having so many varied symptoms. Have been having a fear of STD, though havenot been sexually active as such, and my only recent activity has been mutual masturbation(hand-genital) - which all the doctors felt was v low risk.
I'm a 54 year old male and have had similar experience with both doxycycline and cipro. The first time I had a prostititis attack cipro didn't work and doxycycline helped me after 2 full weeks. 18 months later I'm having another bout, this time its the other way around - Doxycycline didn't help and cipro seems to be working after 2 weeks.
Are you taking Flomax too? My prostititis problems seemed to start when I went on Flomax.
I have read about overgrowth and did take cipro 500 mg daily for 5 days and came out of being so weak I could hardly walk episode!..the dr said just try and it helped..thank you! I know taking antibiotics when no fever or culture sounds questionable but it did help a few months ago.....I am in pain a lot but when I am really weak..I wonder if something else is going on..

Electrocautery may be a trigger but only for localised area where it is done. It odes not cause folliculitis spreading all over the body.
