Cipro for bv

Common Questions and Answers about Cipro for bv

cipro

Avatar f tn Yes, well bv can be cured by a variety of things. It is a lot about the balance of the vaginal Ph. So, if that worked for you that is great. I am a big believer in probiotics too. It does depend on how bad the infection is and what bacteria it is. Sometimes you can't heal bv by probiotics alone sometimes you can. Some UTI's you can heal by cranberry juice there are some that might not respond. Thanks for bringing that up.
Avatar f tn You had to take the antibiotic for your BV so a yeast infection is no surprise. Doctors should tell women this! Same with cipro. I don't think I've ever taken that without getting a yeast infection. The urinary tract infection is likely unrelated to the BV. So, most women get UTI's from . . . don't get grossed out . . . but small bits of fecal matter entering the urethra. One bad wiping experience after a bowel movement . . . and that can be the result.
Avatar f tn you should never go from anal to vaginal sex without first changing condoms or washing, because this is one of the causes for BV. Metronidazole treats both bv and trich.
847328 tn?1289783114 I usually take Cipro and Bactrim. I have only been given Flagyl for BV. I might double check with your doctor. Also, was the Flagyl oral or via the vaginal gel? I believe that the oral is contraindicated in pregnancy.
1560663 tn?1298046527 I know whatever is going on with me cannot be an STD for obvious reasons, I haven't had sex for years. I have a yellowish discharge and it stings a bit when I pee. Last month I had a kidney infection and I was put on Cipro and I also had a colonoscopy where diarriea was involved and I think it may have caused some bacteria. What is the name of a non std vaginal bacterial infection and how is it normally treated and can it be treated naturally. Thanks for any help you can give.
Avatar f tn Okay, so I've done some pretty dumb stuff sexually since my teens, and I had BV for a while and discovered the trick of douching with diluted hydrogen peroxide. So the symptoms of BV would go away, but every month after my period ended, I would have to repeat the process because the fishy smell would come back. I thought it was because the high pH of menstrual blood was encouraging bacterial growth.
Avatar n tn One more detail I forgot to mention, I took another antibiotic at some point during the month for another problem, it was Cipro. When I looked Cipro up, it appears it's used sometimes to treat STDs so I am wondering if this should have also cleared up gonnorhea or chlamydia if I had it? Is it possible that Flagyl just gave me a yeast infection?
Avatar f tn On return from the mountain we returned to our remote location and started a course of cipro x 10 days for + ketoconazole for 7 for him and cipro x 5 days for me + clotrimazole pessaries for 6 days. We abstained from sex during this period. Now 2 weeks after having completed this treatment I am showing +ve for Gono. He hasn't been away in this time and we have only been with eachother so I am certain he has not passed it onto me. The test performed was gram stain.
Avatar f tn Doctors say your symptoms sound like BV but the test is negative so they need to start searching for diseases/infections that have bv-like symptoms. good luck, hope you get some answers and feel better soon!
Avatar m tn So I was recently tested negative for Chlamydia and Ghonorhea because of STD-like symptoms after cheating on my girlfriend. Although there was no penetration involved in the cheating, there was "dry humping" or "frottage". My doctor told me that I have prostatitis and put me on Cipro and everything was good. I stopped worrying and tried to move on with my life. Now, unfortunately, there is more trouble.
Avatar n tn after any sort of stimulation I get VERY red all around the vestibule and sex is painful for days afterwards. My husband took the doxycycline for 3 weeks. Then Cipro. It spread to his bladder and then prostate. He went to see a urologist, diagnosed chronic prostatitis. He had std tests after the doxycycline didn't help. They were negative. We asked the urologist if he should test his semen for infection or do another urine test. He said it wasn't necessary.
Avatar m tn I use to take macrodantin and cipro and I would clear. Now the macrodantin is not effective and I needed to take cipro with doxy for 21 days and that seemed to finally clear. I have had a test for gc or ngu and it was negative. I do not have pain when i urinate so I feel that it may not be a UTI but PID. Any idea's on what to do?
Avatar f tn Hi. I'm a little surprised they gave you Cipro for a uti that they didn't test for. That's unusual. Cipro is not a great drug to take unless you need it. Normally they culture your urine. So, that was a little irresponsible of your doctor. A UTI feels like this--- you have a constant urge to pee, when you pee, you feel like you can't get it all out and it burns at the end of the pee coming out on the inside. It's almost unbearably uncomfortable. It doesn't sting.
Avatar m tn Dont freak out at this point you can get a UTI from a normal flora change in her vagina. Its called a yeast or BV. Just wait for the test results to come back and make sure your tested for Gono, Chlamydia and Trich. Not sure the yellow from you rectum, might not be related.
Avatar f tn you won't get herpes from mutual masturbation. you need to return to be seen for testing for vaginitis at this point. Your discharge sounds like bv though since you've been on antibiotics, yeast is a possibility too.
Avatar m tn Cipro is usually prescribed for something like a uti and the Diflucan can be given with it to keep a woman from getting a yeast infection. The combination of these 2 meds are very common and don't immediately convey an std. If she already has a yeast infection then ues wear a condom. I would ask her what the doctor prescribed her the meds for and go from there.
Avatar m tn I tested negative 3 times for all STIS, Yeast, and BV. The dr also believes that my symptoms are unrelated to any STIs.
Avatar f tn Again, urine sample was negative for bacteria, but extremely high for white blood cells. Doctor put me on a month of Cipro. Cipro seemed to work for the first day, as I felt much better the following day. A few days later, had sex with the boyfriend again and symptoms returned with a vengeance. The main symptom was again an intense burning/stinging in the urethra and vulva area. Doctor switched me to Suprax which did nothing.
Avatar m tn I have done plenty of research and know that I have not been tested for Ureaplasma/Micoplasma/Trich! Medication taken. Zithromax one gram/Cipro 500 MG twice a day for a week, doxi 200 mg for ten days, flagyl 2g one dose, 500 mg twice a day for a week. Now from what i have read on this forumn this should of taken care of this. Reading further Mycoplasma Genitalium is associated in women with BV and proliferates in women with BV.

Avatar f tn do you have this numbness in the penis and pain up in the pelvis like in a vein? I've had this for over a month now with a bad UTI is there anything like clotrimazole miconazole that can help that?
Avatar f tn At the beginning of June I plan on getting retested for HSV1 and HSV2 using the IgG test since it will be more than four months since I was possibly exposed to herpes. The thing is that since the date that I last had sex I have had bacterial vaginosis, the Gadernella strain, the entire time. I've taken different medications and it will not go away.
Avatar f tn I have only ever taken an Antibiotic for a BV infection, maybe that is something you need to do. If I were you I would get a full STD screening as well as a yeast and BV culture so that you can be sure. You dont want to suffer like this any longer treating the wrong thing or not treating it properly.
Avatar m tn Thank you for responding to my question. It has been 12 days since I had root canal on #14. Took Cipro for 7 days. I'm still feeling lpain/discomfort on #14 and try not to chew on that side of mouth. How long does it for root canal to heal? Can and do root canal fail? What are symptoms of failed root canal. At the time of root canal Endodonist put temporary filled on crown. I have appoint with regular dentist for permanent filling in a week.
Avatar m tn If more than a couple days have passed, it might be too late for a viral culture, but that still might be tried if the irritation and redness are persisting. For sure consider doing that, and not self-treating with cipro or anything else, if and when you have a similar recurrence in the future. Also, to be safe you should tell your oral partner that you might have exposed her to HSV-2; you might well have been incubating an outbreak and shedding virus at the time of the exposure.
Avatar n tn That liquid like ball is edema and depending on how large it is and that it is on the throat, a drain my be necessary. As for the Cipro....there are some very serious risk factors. If your pet has any of the MANY risk factors, giving Cipro can be deadly to your dog. If your pet is under 2 years old (assuming by the weight he is a medium or large breed)....do NOT under any circumstance give Cipro. Please please take your dog to the vet so he is properly treated in a safe and humane way.
Avatar f tn Ok so Im going on 3 months did my blood test all my blood work was perfect no hiv are anything of that sort urine perfect no stds period but I got a pap smer and my obgyn found that I tested positive for bv witch she explained to me with a smile so I knew it wasn't that bad and gave me lots of medicine but I found out it can cause miscarriage yicks!! Any one elce had this problem if so how long did it take for it to go away?
Avatar n tn My doctor flat out told me that once you start with the recurrent BV, there is nothing that can be done. I have been tested for both yeast and BV, I usually come up positive for BV. I have used Clindesse, Diflucan, Metronidazole, over the counter yeast treatment, Flagyl, and others. My symtoms include: yellow or white watery discharge(moderate to heavy), itching, burning, tears, swelling, and very painful, burning during sex.
Avatar f tn I took my antibiotics for bv and then went to sleep. Woke up sweating and running to the bathroom having diarrhea. I'm still sweating and I'm having some stomach pain. Anybody experience this? Is it the antibiotics doing it to me ? I'm 17 weeks pregnant.
