i took cipro for 3 days and got joint pains in calves, knees and knuckle. doc said stop immediately and see if infection was cleared.
2 days later i started having more blurry vision and would wake up in the middle of the night shaking uncontrollably and sweating. so bad that i went to the e.r. once. (but i ate durning this episode, so when i got to the er doc 6 hrs later i was fine) they ran ekg, blood tests, and i still had a slightly elevated white blood cell count.
Hi, I am on birth control constantly to not have my period. 1 and a half weeks ago, I have had constipation with and lower abdominal pains, that brought me to an urgent care place, they put me on flagyl and cipro, and thought it was diverticulitis. When the pain didn't go away and got better then worse, I went to see my pcp. She thought it was colitis and sent me for a CT scan. They found a 3cm cyst on my left ovary.
well this could be the hypoglycemia, i too have it but dont often have symptoms because i eat constantly and eat candy often. but i am no doctor so you should definately ask your doctor about it. hypoglycemia seems to be thought of as not serious, but in fact its just as serious as diabetes, and also can progress like diabetes. you may have been told this 5 years ago but it may have progressed to a higher level. it could be worse. you need to have your doctor check your blood sugar levels.
I have taken Cipro for Urniary Tract Infections on and off for about 7 years. Last year the frequency of infections was about every 2 months. This winter I have had less than a month between symptoms. My doctor gave me a prescription for Macrobid in case I need it. I have taken it for the first time the past three days and the infection is still quite apparent especially during the night when I can feel the internal discomfort.
Be careful with using Cipro and other antibiotics and use it only as directed by your Physician. I was misdiagnoised with a urinary tract infection that time showed it wasn't and was prescribed Cipro. This drug and others in its class have a nasty side effect - mine was labral tears of the right shoulder and right hip.

Im traveling in mexico and got pretty sick (my best guess is it was 'Travelers Diarrhea' or maybe food poisioning) I went to the pharmacy and got 500mg Cipro pills. I took one and got a horrible headache and vomitted alot. My symptoms seem to be gone however would it be a bad idea to stop taking the Cipro? I know people say you should always finish a course of antibiotics but in this case I dont know if I need them.

I have taken cipro a lot too and it hasn't bothered me before. But I recently took it and after 1 dose my heart started acting weird. Any antibiotic of that class can cause heart palpitations. Unfortunately, most of the antibiotics I can take have that potential side effect, I'm allergic to penicillin.
I'm 52 and was prescribed macrobid for a UTI. Shortly after taking it I started having really severe heart palpitations. I have had them off and on since I was 29 and have been told it's probably due to my hypoglycemia. I have problems with UTI and kidney infections on a regular basis. I have been on Cipro on and off since 1994. Cipro has allways worked very well for me. I have not experienced side effects from this drug. I have had other antibiotics prescribed to me that did have some negative side effects. In my case Sulfa drugs causes hives.
From 1994 up to 2003, I used to come down with UTI and kidney infections that required hospitalizations with a frequency of about every 3 to 4 months.
is it safe to take 125 mg of cipro each day for 6 months I was prescribed this for a UTI that keeps coming back. Also the pharmacy that filled the prescription gave me 250mg tablets and told me they aren't made in 125mg. and for me to break in half . But the info that comes with the meds says not to break.crush, or chew.
no, it will effect the medication and either make it not work or intensfy. it will say on the bottle of the medication not to take the meds. with alcohol.
I had to take 20 days of Cipro for prostate infection. The e coli count was > 100,000. It took 4 or 5 day to take the temperature down and then it was a matter of getting through the 20 days. Right after I got off of Cipro (~2days) I was feeling constipated, A week after (yesterday) I realized my spleen was swollen (first time ever). Wife is a nurse and new where it was located.
Please be very careful with Cipro. Look up all the side effects of this on the computer ASAP. I was on cipro 250mg for one month then doctor raised it to 500mg. I no sooner took the larger dose than I started to jerk in sleep and had problems with numbness/tingling in both arms from elbow to finger tips. Shook like i had parkinsons.

t been able to confirm. As a result, I went to a pharmacy and got a 10-pack of 500mg Cipro and a 3 pack of 500mg Zipro. I took 1000mg of Cipro and 1000mg of Zipro yesterday and another 500mg of each today. Have a I taken enough of these drugs to kill both bacterial infections, and if so, how long should it take to clear up an infection if I do indeed have one?
Have you had a glucose tolerance test to see if your body produces too much insulin as a reaction when you eat? This is a different test from having a simple blood sugar test -- you must drink a sugary solution and blood is drawn several times to see how your body is reacting. Unfortunately, when people have what is called REACTIVE HYPOGLYCEMIA (when the body reacts by over-producing insulin, which causes hypoglycemia), it can be difficult to show in a test.
I went back to a Dr 7 days after initial symptoms, my blood pressure was low 90/50, the Dr gave me prescriptions for reglan, cipro and some type of electrolyte drink and said I was still recovering from the gastroenteritis. I only used the electrolyte drink with no relief, I was on a liquid diet to rest my GI, then I had 2 more episodes of watery diarrhea along with all the other same symptoms.
Regarding the urinary tract infection It sounds like the organism causing the problem is getting resistant to the drug Cipro and you may need a new prescription. Also, Cipro may be causing you to throw up. it is possible you have a kidney infection still and it is causing pain that is radiating to the front.
You may not know that a dry mouth which can feel like thirst is one of the symptoms of hypoglycemia as well as diabetes. And logic tells us that if your mouth is dry and you are drinking lots of fluids, you will urinate often. I am a tightly-controlled type 1 diabetic, and the dry mouth feeling that I get when my glucose is low is almost identical to the sensation of having high blood sugar.
