I now have been taking antibiotics for about a month, about 10 days of keflex with a 5 day break, 10 days of cipro, and 3 days break before another 10 days of cipro. Am now taking a 10 day round of both clindamycin and bactrum to treat it. Thing is, blood work I had 5 days ago when I got started taking my clindamycin and bactrum now shows that I have no signs of infection in my blood, from CBC to my C-Protein.
On Friday the cultures came back as well and they put her on Vanco and Cipro. She had been on Clindamycin since admission. According to the CT her parotid and submandibular glands as well as the masserteric muscle were surrounded by the infection. Early yesterday they went back in and drained everything out. Her swelling was minimal last night. Today, it’s much worse. Kinda like when we first went in. Her wbc and neutrophils are also more elevated today than than it’s been all along.
On January 16th, after popping an ingrown hair on my shaft, I developed fever/chills overnight, and my penis shaft swelled up tremendously in a few hours (all symptoms of cellulitis). No sores, just swollen. Doctor said he was certain it was cellulitis, and prescribed antibiotics which fixed everything.
After doing some reading, I found that cellulitis can affect people with HIV because of their weakened immune system. I guess it is the timing of all this that has me scared.
No problems with lubrication. Went to the Dr found out I had UTI. Gave me cipro and all was good. Had sex again after meds were finished and still sore. Looked in the mirror and saw a huge lump on my left side. It was swollen under the opening off to the side. Maybe bartholin gland acting up? I have this weird red streak on the inside of my minoras that will itch and burn if you touch it. It spreads and then starts to disappear.
he then performs his exam and quickly says you have cellulitis. Gave me Cipro and a fungal cream. For my peace of mind, he ordered a routine Mammogram and chest Xray. After voicing my concerns at the imaging office, they changed the order with the Drs. permission to a Diagnostic mammogram, plus an Ultrasound. Both tests show NO abnormalities. I've read online that Mammograms and Ultrasounds missed Cancer in about 10% of patients.
t mention drawing blood for a CBC, although I did get an antibiotic injection and a script for Bactrim and circle drawn around my cellulitis lesion. Am I totally out of line to worry about possible granulocytopenia? I know it's very unlikely on only 5 mgs. So should I not worry at all unless I also develop a fever and sore throat, which according to the internet, are the classic symptoms of reduced granulocytes? Thanks.
It has been over 3 years since I had cellulitis from injections in my neck and base of skull. I also have experienced chronic fatigue and a general decline in my overall health. At first my whole body swelled up. I was on IV antibiotics then switched to oral for a few months. Any insight would be appreciated.
I also have Diabetes Inspidus and am often incontinent and sweaty, but with dry mouth nose and eyes and a terrible thirst. I am female, aged 44, and not yet menopausal.
I currently am recovering from a cellulitis infection in my right arm which has been there for about 5 weeks, it peaked at about 3 weeks ago. Just as it is getting better, the sweats and fever I normally suffer whilst having this are not .
You can see from the information below, the signs and symptoms of orbital cellulitis and the information you have provided suggests that these signs and symptoms, including fever, are not present. This, plus the lack of progression or worsening suggest that you do not have orbital cellulitis. And, clearing of the green drainage suggests that the sinus infection is subsiding.
I had one get infected several years ago and ended up with a nasty case of cellulitis that ended me up int he hospital for 7 days and I nearly not only lost my hand/arm, but also my life.
Please get this checked out immediately.
My husband is 75 years old and have been dealing with cellulitis (inflamation and redness) on his right leg for over a month. He is been taking antibiotics intravenously and also in pills, but this does not seem to help. He also have twitching of right leg and a lot of pain all over but more in his back and knees. CAN SOMEONE HELP ME? ANY IDEAS?
I was Dx w/fibro last year but have had symptoms for six years. Now something new has popped up: I have had cellulitis twice in the last eight months and the lymph nodes under my arms are swollen to the size of golf balls and very painful. My dr says that it's a result of the cellulitis and I will have to go on periodic antibiotic injections until the swelling goes down. What next?
The reason why i suspected Cellulitits is because the sores developed rapidly, the area around them was inflamed, and cellulitis is common complication of athlete's foot. I'm thinking about buying some antibiotics and anti fungal cream (even though the athlete's foot is practically all cleared now).
Afternoon. I have had cellulitis in my nose for over a month.... took Bactrim, Clindamycin, and another 5 days of Bactrim.. which didn't help in the first place... but... i have this swollen membrane (i guess) from the tip of my nose about 1/2 inch back... it always feels like it is going to swell up again.... with no insurance another 125.00 is not what I want to pay since it seems like none of that helped anyway... anybody have any thoughts on this one???
Was there any kind of a small break in the skin anywhere around where the cellulitis was, and did it just keep getting bigger and hotter by the minute? , hour? or day? Was it a short term exposure of great amount, or, long term of small amounts? Before I sit here and hunt and peck a book....LOL.....I will wait for you to respond or who knows....Maybe go backstage to check in there..Have a wonderful Blessed Day!!!! GOD BLESS!!!!
Now bring to last year... I popped a pimple and ended up with cellulitis really bad on my face... Which happened two more times after that. Would it be worth it to try and get another tattoo or should I just never consider it again?
Did anyone else get this in early pregnancy? I'm only 18 weeks and it's so sooo painful. It's on my left nipple.
There is already a large scar from the last infection on my cheek that turned into cellulitis and was incredibly painful and left a red patch and a white scar in the site. Right now it is trying to return with a black small line just underneath the skin where it always happens.
Any suggestions?
I had prostatitis about 4 years ago. After taking Cipro and Levaquin for about two months, it finally went away. I was fine until just recently when similar symptoms came back. They are much more milder than before, but still bothersome. Primary physician did urinalysis and DRE, and said everything seemed OK, but I could see a urologist if it was still bothering me.
Went to urologist, and he said stream good, but trace blood in urine.
I have taken Cipro for Urniary Tract Infections on and off for about 7 years. Last year the frequency of infections was about every 2 months. This winter I have had less than a month between symptoms. My doctor gave me a prescription for Macrobid in case I need it. I have taken it for the first time the past three days and the infection is still quite apparent especially during the night when I can feel the internal discomfort.
