Hello. About 4 years ago after lifting a heavy item I had some left testicle pain that was diagnosed as epididymitis, the doctor at the time told me to take Advil and go easy for a while and it cleared up a few weeks later. 2 years ago I had left testicle pain, a different doctor did an ultrasound to check for a hernia and when it came back negative gave me the same advice and it cleared up in a few weeks.
After two days of treatment, I developed side effects to the Cipro (muscle and joint pain). I was taken off the Cipro and was put on Augmentin (twice a day) for 21 days, which I began taking today. My urologist advised me that if the Augmentin does not work, then there is not a whole lot he can do to improve my condition given that there are no other antibiotics that could be helpful. I just got a PSA done, and I am awaiting the results.
Think it was a reaction to Bactrim, so the doctor switched me to Cipro. Still didn't get better. Eventually got some prednisone and hydroxyzine to treat it. It definitely helped - but didn't clear it up all the way. Now I have a sinus infection and have been prescribed Cipro again.
If it was the Bactrim in the first place, am I likely to be allergic to Cipro too?
Also curious if seasonal allergies might manifest themselves this way.
new diagnosis - prostatitis. Doc gave me cipro and doxy 8 days with no result. Bactrim for 10 days, no result. As I live in Africa, I went to Portugal to get a second opinion, and the doctor gave me levo for 20 days; no result. Afterwards tried another uru, and he told it was all about the food I was I taking, had a huge diet lost 7 kilos, no result.
The sensation got worse and I went to an urgent care center and was given bactrim and told I had a uti. This was despite a negative urine culture, so obviously the bactrim did nothing. I then went to a urologist who took a urine sample and again it was negative. He gave me a DRE to check my prostate and said “it’s not too bad.” I’m not sure what that meant but he said I had prostatitis and gave me a 10 day cycle of cipro. The cipro took away all the symptoms in about 4 days.
After day 9 the pain was unbearable so I stopped and three days later went to the ER for treatment, I told them I had a bad reaction to the Cipro so they changed my prescription to Bactrim which almost immediately dropped my pain level from a level of 8 to a 2 on a 1-10 scale. I’m still experiencing some pain daily and I’m wondering if it’s the Cipro still affecting my body or is it is it something else?
So far I have taken Cipro (two rounds; 10 days and 21 days), Bactrim (14 days), and Flomax throughout all without much benefit. I am supposed to have a semen culture done in a week to see exactly what the bacteria is. My question is if anyone has had a bad case of prostatitis and urithritis and what the outcome was? Thank you for your help.
I also had my appetite killed with Cipro I really didn’t eat in that period. Prior to this I had none of these symptoms and when I stopped taking Cipro and started taking the bactrim the pains I had originally were reduced by a large amount. They are still there but not as vivid as when I was taking Cipro. My appetite has returned.
After i had stop taking the bactrim symptoms went away immediately and i felt okay until a week or 2 after. I had the worst experience of my life. The burning in my urethra and the tip of my penis came back with a vengeance and it was difficult to sleep because i could feel the swollen prostate.I also notice that my urine and semen had a fishy odor to it. The head of my penis also burnt after ejaculation or urination.

I'm a 30 year old, heterosexual male. For a little more than two weeks, I have noticed mild pain on the right side of my penis (penile head), urge to urinate, and mild burning around the anus. The pain is not sensitive to the touch. Six months ago, I had a full STI test, including HSV 1 and 2, everything was negative. About a month ago, I received oral sex. That's the only sexual activity I've had.
could the Bactrim be causing me to feel so tired (no rash or jaundice or anything listed in the serious side effects portion of the pamphlet that came with the Bactrim)? Also, after 5 days of Bactrim should symptoms of a prostate infection be improving?
I am hesitant to call my Dr. about my possible reaction to the Bactrim because I don't want to become labeled a "difficult patient". Any advice you could offer would be great.

4 weeks ago I took Cipro and got hives right away. I was told to continue my dosage of Cipro adn to take Benadryl. After I was done with the Cipro, I still had hives. My hives would be very itchy, swollen adn would come on one part of my body, then after a couple of minutes dissapear and appear on another part. I was given Preginsone for 5 days and continued with the Benadryl. This did nothing.
Then I was given Reactin which helped reduce the amount of hives and the itch.
Ordered both it and Flagyl be stopped and called a script for Bactrim instead as well as Benadryl. The Benadryl helped with the hives (and a good night's sleep LOL) but in the morning they returned.
Took another benadryl which helped for about 4 hours (and knocked me out again) and the hives and swollen lip came back.
Called in again and he said to switch off the Benadryl and try Loratadine. This does not seem to be controlling it so well (took it 2 hours ago).
About 7 wks after I had my baby (vaginal delivery no epidural) I started 2 get classic uti symptoms burning feeling ,having 2 pee when no urine in bladder,constant pressure . When I was a child i was in hospital 4 a month with complete kidney failure due 2 e coli , this resulted in a full recovery ! In the past ive had the same uti symptoms & have been able to rid of them by drinking water,cranberry pills,and frequent peeing.
I'm currently taking an antibiotic (Bactrim), was prescribed the med for 10 days. I'm on the 7th day, and I've suddenly developed cramping in my arms and legs. Muscle and joint pain is a listed side-effect on my meds. I'm wondering how concerned I should be about this? Should I continue to take the meds? Would my doctor tell me to quit them?
I'd really like to get through them, but don't want to damage my body taking them.
I went to GP, he prescribed me a bunch of antibiotics (Cipro, Bactrim, Macrobid), none of them work. Fast forward, went to see my GYN, she did a urethral swab and urine culture. My right part of urethra feels tender per GYN. The swab for STD/STI were negative. However, my urine came back positive for E.Coli. So I was prescribed Cipro, but I had an allergic reaction to it. So now I am on Keflex 4x a day for 7 days. Today is 2nd day, I still feel the pain.
He put me on Bactrim for 2 weeks which really did not do anything for me...after bactrim he put me again on cipro and after 2 weeks a i developed prostatitis which is basically an infection in the prostate. finally after 3 weeks i feel better but still not fully recoverd from epidymitis ....in sum... i have been 2 monthsn on antibiotics and only 75% better. this is a long process.
December 16, 2016, diagnosed with UTI was placed on the antibiotic Bactrim, symptoms did not go away went to the walk in clinic they repeated the urine and it showed UTI. Placed me on Cipro symptoms were not any better,culture from walk in showed contamination so they wanted to repeat the specimen. Went to the clinic and gave a repeat specimen, it showed Entercoccus was placed on Augmentin. From research I have found that the only thing that works on Entercoccus bacteria is vancomycin.
He told me I had prostatitis, because oral sex and regular sex and sometimes bacteria goes into the urethra and prescribe me 3 weeks of Bactrim 800 mg. I am in my second week and still feel the full pain in pelvic region, but urge and pain while urinating is better.
4 questions:
1- Is prostatitis a symptom of HIV?
2- Is a white tongue be cause by the infection in prostate?
3- Can prostatitis make me infertile, I want kids.
4- Is masterbating bad or good while in this condition?
