can anyone explain the difference between the brand name Lexapro and the generic brand? i was reading your posts. my boyfriend was on the brand name lexapro and switched to the chemical brand in June. since then he has been spriraling downhill, out of control is there that much of a difference in brand name and off brand?

celexa generic citalopram and brand name cipram in the the eastern countries is produced by the same Danish company which produces cipralex/lexapro/escitalopram. In different forums one finds many pts using it. it's weaker than lexapro, exactly half its therapeutic dose in maximum and minimum. BP pts take wellbutrin, celexa, lexapro in the majority of the cases. A few take seroxat/paxil to go with lamictal.

I've been wondering since I got out of the hospital after my suicide attempt why they put me on propananol (I think it's called that) I searched it and apparently it's for blood pressure? I remember them monitoring my blood pressure for the first few days in the hospital because they said when I had panic attacks my blood pressure went up. In 2012 I was put on cipralex. 5mg, then, 10mg, then 20mg. I took it for a year, felt good, and then stopped (weaned off). Ever since then I have had MAJOR ups and downs. And honestly I think the medication did more harm than good in the long run. I have even had a panic attack since then. Times where I think I'm going crazy, I'm going to collapse, faint, lose my mind. To be honest with you, don't ever take medication for anxiety and depression.

ve taken, both, generic levothyroxine (T4) and liothyronine (T3), as well, as brand name Synthroid and Cytomel. I did better on on generic levo than I did on Synthyroid... I've been taking generic liothyronine for over 5 yrs and have done just as well as I did on Cytomel. I don't think you'll have any difficulty, with generic T3, but if you do, you can always go back to Cytomel.

Your question is a bit confusing to me. Are you saying that you had the rash, fatigue, etc.on the generic or a brand name? A rash usually means an allergic reaction. What type of thyroid medication are you on?

If you are required to take the generic, find a generic that will work for you. The name of the lab is always on the bottle. And be SURE each time your scrip is filled that the same lab produced it. Everyone says negative things about generics. And sometimes it is warranted. But not always. For instance the generic of claritin and some heart and blood pressure drugs makes them affordable and they work fine. My husband gets generics of a lot of his meds and he does very well.
