And I will add that schizoaffective disorder is schizophrenia with a mood disorder which in my case is bipolar. In schizoaffective disorder a person experiences psychosis all the time whereas in bipolar with psychotic features it is only during moodswings. anxiety is a common denominator for all psych disorders. it's not specific to BP alone. Taking cipralex will do you good for a while but then it will drive you manic eventually. you said cipralex, is it the only drug you take or along with other meds ? because if you take mood stabilizers along with then perhaps it's safe. but i never heard someone with BP is prescribed an antidepressant only. cipralex is rather strong it's an SSRI.

Can anyone share if they also been diagnosed with a Bipolar Depression or with a Mood Disorder ? I believe that its more over BiPolar/Mood Disorder then anything else.

I read that Its 50/50. Depends though, I know ppl that are bipolar and have three kids, one has mood disorder. I'm bipolar, so is my husband and were having a baby in Nov. So I'm curious to see how this will work out. Either way what better people to help a child or someone deal with it then someone who actually has it themselves.

m on 100mg lamotrigine (one in the morning, another in the night), and cipralex (10mg morning only), and to help me sleep i take 2.5mg olanzapine. Honestly If my parents were aware of mental illnesses I could have been on the drug way earlier, I just found out about this in July, when I posted that I want to die, I'm 23 now, just imagine how different my life would have been if I was on the drug as a teenager or something.

Doctors try to avoid vyvanse and adderall ect with bipolar because it causes mania. Adderal is not used for bipolar. For bipolar i take abilify (aripiprizole) 10mg and 1000mg of divalproex sodium.

We don't really know why bipolar meds work, there are theories, but no hard science. I find addiction and bipolar to be more similar than seizures and bipolar.

Lyrica works on the seritonin system and seritonin and bipolar can be bad news together and flip you into hypomania or mania. I found lamotrigine helped my fibromyalgia symptoms. Neurontin also helped but I stopped taking it when I started the psyc. meds. I find chinese massage helps the fatigue. It hurts like a bugger while she is doing it. I wouldn't call it relaxing, but afterwards I have much more energy than before. Too I found someone new in her practise so she only charges $30.

Yeah, odasi is right. If you're bipolar and you don't take a mood-stabilizer like seroquel to keep you from getting "too up", lexapro on it's own can make you very manic. Mania can cause things like anxiety, lack of sleep, not being hungry and losing weight. If lexapro has been helpful in the past when you were depressed, you can keep taking it, just take it with something that prevents mania.

I have just started this medication tonight, I am concerned about some side effects, and how long they take to take effect, as I used to ahve seizure's but was still put on this medication, however I am not on any other kinds of meds. My qusetion is I also suffer from sleep disorder I sleep 4-5 hours a night and cant sleep anymore I lied down around midnight to fall asleep around 2 am. or later.

Hello to everyone,i'm on cipralex several years diagnose with Ocd and anxiety disorder my dosage was initially 30mg now dicrease dosage 20mg,but these days are very bad i have again panic attacks every morning when wake up and i.m afraid that have some heart issue ,cause heart goes like crazy and start to shake and feel i will die ,and for this i take some xanax that distress me but i'm afraid if this happens again...
