Cipralex and bipolar

Common Questions and Answers about Cipralex and bipolar

ciprodex

1267205 tn?1321117128 anxiety is a common denominator for all psych disorders. it's not specific to BP alone. Taking cipralex will do you good for a while but then it will drive you manic eventually. you said cipralex, is it the only drug you take or along with other meds ? because if you take mood stabilizers along with then perhaps it's safe. but i never heard someone with BP is prescribed an antidepressant only. cipralex is rather strong it's an SSRI.
Avatar m tn m on the bipolar spectrum and the medications that I stopped taking on time during my vacation were lamictal, cipralex, and olanzapine
574118 tn?1305135284 So do you think panic and fear can be an extra side effect of cipralex and i should increase the above doze of xanax.
1926604 tn?1322961405 Yeah, odasi is right. If you're bipolar and you don't take a mood-stabilizer like seroquel to keep you from getting "too up", lexapro on it's own can make you very manic. Mania can cause things like anxiety, lack of sleep, not being hungry and losing weight. If lexapro has been helpful in the past when you were depressed, you can keep taking it, just take it with something that prevents mania.
Avatar n tn Unfortunately my experience with paxil/seroxat/paroxetine was really bad. It took quite a while for withdrawal. The reason i tried it, is that i read that it goes well with lamictal. my pdoc was a fool i suppose, i tried many pdocs at the time, and since i tried lexapro/escitalopram/cipralex and drove me manic after 2 months I switched to paxil to realise that it's stronger. they say the strongest is effexor. I suppose all SSRI aren't suitable for BP.
574118 tn?1305135284 Bipolar only has one medication that is specifically developed to treat bipolar, and that is lithium, and lithium is just a chemical on the periodic table, nothing fancy. All of the other medications are meant to treat something else, and just happen to be helpful for bipolar, (almost like a side effect since those medications don't always work for everyone.) Antipsychotics were developed to treat schizophrenia. Anticonvulsants were created to treat epilepsy.
Avatar m tn Then 3 years later I tried celexa, and after 3 days I felt good, then after about 5 I felt too good. I was advised to stop, and remained hypomanic for maybe 5 weeks. Better habits this time! Aside from that I've never had a hypomanic experience. My doctor said he is worried about me going there again, so when I went back for a different drug for depression, he prescribed Seroquel, but the more research I do the less inclined I am. I'm debating asking him to prescribe Wellbutrin.
574118 tn?1305135284 I would add that bipolar needs to be treated by an anti-depressent and a mood stabilizer for some people with bipolar. Ideally psychiatrists prefer to use a mood stabilizer and an adjunct mood stabilizer if there are further symptoms. If there is treatment refractory depression they would add an anti-depressent but that's when needed because of the potential worsening of mania. Some people with bipolar need an anti-depressent as well. Some don't.
Avatar f tn I was on Cipralex for a year since losing dad and losing my job. had bad anxiety and insomnia.
950277 tn?1247274551 I was on celexa 2 years ago. I have a really bad record with any type of antidepressant, and like all the rest I ended up in the hospital as a result of it. Everyone is different, but that was my reaction to it.
Avatar n tn I take both those meds and avoid all cold medicines and over the counter medications because they can interact with the cipralex and serequel. I always call my pharmacist and ask which medications could counteract with my anti depressants.
Avatar f tn Im bipolar and have bad anxiety they wouldn't let me take anything this whole time...
Avatar m tn He told me to consult with the psychristic. I consulted with the psychristic. He advised me to take cipralex for one and half month. After taking the cipralex too i feels the same sympton. For that i once again consulted with the other neurophysician in bangalore. He advised me for doing the MRI Scan. The result of the MRI saying "Mild ectopia of cerebellar tonsils. The tips of the tonsil is 5mm below the formen magnum. No mass effect is seen on the Brain stem.
Avatar f tn My went to visit my doctor about my anxiety and sleeping issues and he has put me on Cipralex 10mg dosage a day and also prescribed me 50mg of trazodone to be taken at bedtime to help me sleep. Does anyone take these prescriptions? if so could I please get some feedback on them?
Avatar n tn The newer antidepressant (which is pretty much all that is getting prescribed nowadays) have pretty much the same side-effect but each person is different so if you are getting a lot of side effects (past the two week point - they all suck the first two weeks) on one you may be able to switch to another and it works great. There are just too many variable in the human body. For example I can't handle Wellbutrin but can handle Cipralex or Celexa.
Avatar m tn I have had head aches on cipralex, and when I drink some or even more then some drinks I get almost sick with a head ache. 1) are head aches common in taking anxiety drugs, 2) any way preventing the head aches. 3) dry mouth is that common with these drugs.
574118 tn?1305135284 Hi I am new here. I am bipolar most probably. I am fine right now on antipsychotics only (atypical which can function as MS almost) and doing well, except a week ago i started to decline a little. I am working right now so i fear to quit my job which i found after painstaking efforts. I took lexapro/cipralex. it's ok and am fine except that it gave me tremors for a few mins in the last 2 nights which i am worried about. I know there exist many AD: SSRI, SNRI, Mao(old) stimulants, tricyclics.
Avatar f tn I am BP1, but have hit clinical depression. I think they put me on a AD because of this and I'm pregnant and they don't want to put me on too high of a dose of Lamictal. Lamictal, I've been on it on and off for a couple yrs. It never really helped much with depression for me. So maybe all I needed all along was a AD. I've taken as high of a dose as 400mg of lamictal when not pregnant. It helps with the mania for short periods of time, but then I always have to up my dose.
Avatar n tn I would give it some time. and don't keep checking your heart rate. Cipralex and this class of drugs are long acting and not something that would just drop your heart rate. But as your stress and anxiety decrease, your heart rate in the resting mode may go back to normal. A resting heart rate of 50 is in the normal range. You are on a low dose. Hope it helps your anxiety/panic. I have found that often anxiety takes a bit higher dose to really work well.
Avatar n tn When I stopped, I was fine for six months but my depression suddenly started again. I restarted taking cipralex 10 mg one each night and I improved quickly. Now it is four years that I am taking it. I now want to stop it because I am having very decreased sixual drive. So my question is that, Will my sexual drive improve when I stop taking cipralex?
1267205 tn?1321117128 I have achieved some relative stability as regards moodswings though they are still a part of my life and can affect thought and judgment. I try to plan things out and thinks over that involve any major changes in my life on days when I am stable.
Avatar f tn I was on cipralex (lexapro in the US) for almost 3 years and initially experienced some dry mouth, but no extreme side effects at all. It worked amazingly for me. I started on 10mg and then doubled to 20mg after 1 year. I recently switched to Paxil about 1 month ago, and have really disliked the way it makes me feel. My anxiety has been much worse and the side effects are just awful. It has been so much worse than cipralex.
Avatar f tn I was on celexa for 8.5 yrs.. Started on 20mgs n my dr raised it to 40mgs after 4 yrs cuz it just didn't seem to be working.. After another 4.5 yrs it stopped working so she put me on cipralex... Been on cipralex for about almost 2 yrs now, and I don't find it worked as well as the celexa when it was working... I'm guessing it works different for everybody.. Do u still suffer panic n depression a lot??
Avatar m tn I am facing burning feet and shin while sitting since last 5 years. My NCS, RA Factor, ANA, ESR are normal. I have taken variety of medicines including Dulan, ronirol, tegral, prothyadine, cipralex, epival cr 500, sensival 25 etc. but my problem is still not resolved. During this problem i started walk which increased the problem. However, during walk i feel very normal i.e. no painful burning sensation, i feel. This is important that when i lay down i donot feel pain.
