Avatar m tn Hello I am getting really worried about my hair. I am only 17 year old male and I am already balding. All my family members from both my mom and dad still have all their hair so I don't think its from my genes. I also have VERY thick and frizzy hair. Anyways these last 6 months I have really been balding. I also have lots of dandruff. I usually shampoo twice a week and condition 3 times a week.
Avatar m tn About two years ago I switched to a shampoo without SLS and the eczema disappeared (to the touch) within days (and never returned). Within the last few months I have been getting a rash, itchy, with bumps that feel a bit like acne to the touch, on my scalp. I have tried many shampoos, all of which provoked the same reaction after more than one use.
Avatar m tn I have a two part problem I have a severe case of dandruff, but I also have oily hair and I get these "bumps" that from what I can find are a type of Sebaceous cyst. (They look and feel just like a pimple on my scalp and come to a head just like a pimple.) I have battled the "bumps" for more than 6-7 years now and have never found anything that works to keep them away. I have used T-gel of various strengths, tea tree shampoos, shampooing twice, shampoo and conditioner, etc.
Avatar f tn I've had a problem for close to 15 years, and have never been able to get an answer as to what the problem really is and how to correct it. I have these very small red bumps / pimples in my hair. I've tried all the shampoos out there over time, and none ever work. I've been able to somewhat control it by keeping my hair short and as dry as possible. Dandruff shampoos make matters worse, not better. (Selson Blue, Coal Tar extract, Head & Shoulders. . .
Avatar m tn I was too embarrased to tell of the alcohol incident so i just said i was under anxiety and stress. The doctor gave me ketoconazole foam, 2% and a rx for Ciclopirox shampoo. When i apply the foam it burns a bit but the shampoo is a bit better. What i would like to know is why did she do a fungal skin culture? And your suggestion on what the outcome might be. Also i been suffering from anxiety and stress. Im even anxious of the results i have to go back in 3 weeks.
Avatar n tn Hello, These bumps can be due to folliculitis or perifolliculitis scalp. The scalp should be washed with a mild normal shampoo as often as desired. Antidandruff shampoos containing antifungal agents such as ketoconazole or ciclopirox are sometimes helpful. Apart from that you need topical and oral antibiotics, antihistamines, oral steroids and topical tretinoin. My sincere advice is to get it examined from a dermatologist.
Avatar f tn So I been to the dermatologist a couple of times because I have been breaking out on my beard area so much. I was told I had folliculitis and was put on doxycycline for a month which did not help at all. I will get these itchy bumps on my hair and they will be filled with pus and can't get them to go away. I was thinking instead of it being a bacterial infection it could be a fungal folliculitis situation since it itches and it has spread to my chest and back.
Avatar m tn That was the first sign I have Celiac disease. To treat the problem immediately, avoid scratching because it scars the scalp and hair won't grow. Try Nizoral shampoo to get the skin unclogged and any scales off. Get tested for Celiac disease. You can use any of these to avoid scratching: hydrocortizone 1% cream (I hate the liquid "lotions" that the doctors love), Benadryl gel (very cooling) or even aloe vera gel. Just don't scratch. Stop eating sugary foods and drinks.
9562964 tn?1416928231 Nizeral, polytar and t gell shampoo are all great for dandruff. You could try nioxin shampoo. You get a 3 part system. Nioxin cleanser , scalp revitaliser ( conditioner) and scalp treatment. It is designed for thinning hair but would help your dandruff aswell. It will unblock blocked follicles to aid hair growth and also make the hair you have look thicker and stronger.
Avatar f tn For over a month now, I have been dealing with a couple of sores in my head. I just noticed it while washing my hair. When I was a child I had psoriasis, but I haven't had a flare up in 20 years. I didnt give it much thought, but two weeks ago they started hurting and the pain unbearable at times. They are about an inch or two, and deep. I am putting off going to the doctor because I dont have the money and I am embarrassed.

Avatar f tn The more combing one does and the more pulling or stress on the hair, potentially leads to more hair loss. So I cut my hair to try to help it stay on my head. I also use an organic hypoallergenic shampoo and a very wide toothed comb. If your hair is going to fall out in clumps, I don't think there is much one can do about that. And some people will lose much of their hair.
518798 tn?1295212279 Okay ladies, I realllllly need some input here. Have any of you experienced hair loss or thinning hair? If so, what did you do about it? For the past few years, my hair has been thinning a little on the top, but now it has gotten to be a serioud problem and I don't know what to do about it. Can anyone offer any help or suggestions?
Avatar f tn I take it you have noticed no other hair loss anywhere else on the body? Did the Vet tell you to use that shampoo? Us that the human shampoo? I am not that familiar with your breed but, as a breeder, and assuming I know the lineage of my dogs and who I got them from, I would be contacting the owners of the sires and dams to see if they would be forthcoming with any similar problems in their lines.
Avatar f tn When the skin grows back I have a small bald spot for a bit until my hair grows back. I went to a dermatoligist once who told me they were a fungal infection and gave me some medicine for it as well as a topical medicine to use. When I went back the doctor said it was cleared up but later I started getting the same things again. I didn't go back because at the time I didn't have the money for it. Is this a fungus or does it sound like something more serious?
1667305 tn?1303308073 It is characterized by small, very itchy pustules within the scalp, often most troublesome on the frontal hairline. The scalp should be washed with a mild normal shampoo as often as desired. Antidandruff shampoos containing antifungal agents such as ketoconazole or ciclopirox are sometimes helpful.
