Avatar f tn Hi, This could be a fungal infection. Athlete's foot, also called tinea pedis, is a fungal infection of the feet. Most people want to avoid athlete's foot because it is uncomfortable and unsightly. Left untreated, the Trichophyton and Epidermophyton organisms which cause it can spread to other parts of the body. By keeping the feet clean and dry, you can avoid athlete's foot infection rather effectively.
1831849 tn?1383228392 I have what feels like athlete's foot. It's a mildly painful sensation under my toes, in the area between the 'toe pad' and where the toe connects to the foot. When I look at the area there doesn't appear to be anything there. It's soft and smooth. I've had real athlete's foot before and there was always some visual indication. Does this sound familiar to anyone?
Avatar m tn I don't know if you have a problem there or your shoes are rubbing (most of us don't have the same size or width in our two feet) or the socks aren't staying in place or what it is, but it doesn't sound like athlete's foot, which itches a lot. It would have a red rash. It's also called ringworm. Some people who are basketball players or runners get all manner of foot problems.
Avatar f tn I noticed about two months ago that the balls of my feet and certain areas of my heels turn white when wet. When my feet are dry, these areas are barely noticeable. I can't figure out if it's athlete's foot (AKA I should NOT moisturize) or of it's dry skin (AKA I SHOULD moisturize.) Of course I should go to the doctor, but I'm traveling hectically for work right now. It never itches, ever.
Avatar n tn I have had athlete's foot around the ring and middle toes, on both feet, for 4 days now. I started to treat it with some foot spray two days ago. Also about two days ago, both of my ankles started to feel sore. I did not twist them in any fashion, nor have I done anything strenuous to make them sore (running, etc.) This afternoon, I noticed that not only are both ankles still sore, but the inside of each ankle is now swollen, just below the ankle bone.
Avatar m tn 2 days ago I woke up with a rash on the palm of one of my hands that resembled athlete's foot. The symptoms were also the same, with a burning and itching sensation. Red, semi-raised bumps can be seen on the tops of my palms and around the finger joints, but only on the bottom of my hand. On the tops of my hand are smaller, less reddened blistery bumps.
Avatar f tn So after working for about 7 years now in places that required boots, I developed a terrible case of athlete's foot. Now that condition has cleared up (just some dry skin left) and I have these spots that are either red, brown or under my skin and hollow looking. My physician prescribed a Betamethasone cream but it makes my skin feel like paper. I have no idea what this condition is called, but these spots itch so badly!
Avatar m tn Hello everyone. Roughly 1 month ago I had athlete's foot. Unfortunately, as a complication of the athlete's foot, I also developed several small sores on my toes (right foot only, left foot completely unaffected) in the area of the athlete's foot. At first they developed quickly, were tender or painful to touch, oozing pus and the area around them was slightly inflamed.
Avatar m tn It could be an athlete's foot - try an over the counter athlete's foot spray and see if it helps.
1211508 tn?1343079605 First of all I am assuming my affliction is athlete's foot. So here's the situation. For a while now (several years) I am prone to getting these bright red, burning and itchy annoyance on the tops of my toes, right behind the base of the toenail. It doesn't usually extend beyond the knuckle of the toe though....just in that area between the top knuckle and the base of the toenail. Not ever toe is affected either. Maybe just 1 or 2.
507890 tn?1211294759 Hello, From he information given it does indicate that your friend may indeed have tinea pedis (athlete's foot). Differential diagnosis includes pitted keratolysis. Athlete's foot is a very common condition which is arises due to a fungal infection from either contact with the fungus or contact with fungal skin (communal showers, pools, etc). Treatment modes vary from topical medication through to herbal remedy's.
Avatar f tn Hi, IT could be a very mild case of Athlete' foot or Tinea pedis. It is a parasitic fungal infection of the epidermis of the human foot. The term "athlete's foot" refers to the disease and not the organism (fungus) that causes it. Several different fungi, called dermatophytes, can cause tinea pedis. The fungal infection is often treated with topical antifungal agents, which can take the form of a spray, powder, cream, or gel.
Avatar f tn Cold frequency or athlete's foot have no significance for determining HIV status. If your husband doesn't know his status then he should test. Condoms will protect YOU and yes they are reliable.
Avatar m tn Could either be athlete's foot or pompholyx eczema. Post some pistures and should be able to give you a better idea!! Regards Dr.Sasi Attili www.onlineskinspecialist.
460830 tn?1347219306 I HAVE A PERSISTENT CASE OF ATHLETE'S FOOT. I'VE BEEN KEEPING MY FEET DRY AND CLEAN, AND I'M WEARING FLIP-FLOPS, INSTEAD OF THE TENNIS SHOES AND SOCKS I USUALLY WEAR. I'VE ALSO BEEN USING TINACTIN FOOT SPRAY TWICE OR MORE A DAY. THE ITCHING, BURNING AND CRACKING IS DRIVING ME CRAZY! ALSO, I HAVE A RED BUMP ON THE BOTTOM OF ONE TOE. I HAVE SOME KETOCONAZOLE TABLETS LEFT OVER FROM WHEN I WAS TAKING RADIATION AND MY MOUTH GOT A FUNGAL INFECTION; WOULD THESE HELP, OR DO HARM?
Avatar f tn You mentioned that the lympadenopathy is a result of athlete's foot. Is granuloma annulare a form of athlete's foot? Thanks for all your input. It's been very helpful.
Avatar n tn I have questions about both of my great toes. I noticed a dark spot on one great toenail, about 2 mm across, circular so I went to my derm and he said it's probably nothing but let's remove it to be on the safe side (this was yesterday). Today I noticed I have another dark spot , slightly smaller on the opposite side (both are near the base of the nail, on the side). My cuticle is sore too. I wore new shoes two days ago to work, pointy toes and they gave me blisters.
Avatar m tn Thank you everyone who responded. The antifungal seems to be the trick. That and the antiperspirant spray. I guess we must not have tried the athlete's foot idea. I was thinking we had. At any rate, it seems we are on the right track.
Avatar m tn I have consulted my military doctors for 4 months now and they are convinced that it is Athlete's foot. What test can I request to determine that it is or is not Athelete's foot or a bacterial eczema? Is bacterial eczema usually mistaken for Athlete's foot? Is that the reason why these oral antifungal pills are not working, if so what type of antibiotics would I need to suggest since we do not have a dermatologist on base?
Avatar m tn Antifungal medications work fine, but not overnight. You have to keep using them consistently until the problem is gone. On the bottle of an athlete's foot powder I've used, it recommends applying the stuff everyday for 4 weeks. One would hope jock itch clears up faster, though. It's equally important to prevent it from occurring again. Fungal overgrowths that cause problems like jock itch, athlete's foot, yeast infections, diaper rash, etc.
Avatar n tn Hi, F/38/Hispanic I contracted a nasty case of Athlete's foot from my gym. It spread to my hands. I have been treating it with all forms of medicated/over the counter creams and powders plus doing vinegar and sea salt soaks every day for half and hour (both hands and feet). My hands appear to be clearing out but the infected part of my left foot (where the original infection was) appears to be still red and although new skin has grown, it is still red. It looks like a burn scar.
Avatar n tn I guess the question is, could ars start on week 7 after possible exposure? Also, sore throat on left side for a day or two then the pain moved to right side for day or two as well, fever about 101F. No rash at that time. A week later got something like athlete's foot(peeling skin, red between toes on one foot) . I was just wondering if anyone could tell me if this sounds like ars.
