pseudovent

1047147 tn?1328906154 It is used on the fertility boards and newsgroups in the same manner as saying Band-Aid for an adhesive strip used to cover a cut. Any expectorant that contains guaifenesin as the only active ingredient is fine to use. What kind of Robitussin is used to improve cervical mucus? One should buy the plain kind with no letters after it. The only active ingredient is guaifenesin, and it contains 100 mg per teaspoon.
1106767 tn?1315050974 I have done some research and it appears that clomid can dry up cervical mucus in some people. But if you take robitussin that contains the ingredient (guaifenesin) only and take 1 teaspoon morning and night its supposed to help. But you only take it after your period ends and stop when you ovulate.Drinking a daily glass of grapefruit juice also helps as does eating sweet potato or yams.I am using conceive plus also which is a lubricant similar to preseed.
1777912 tn?1314474892 I'm 34 recently married and trying to conceive. My periods are fairly regular. I'm at a 30 day cycle. I am having trouble figuring out when I ovulate. I'm using OPKs and they are only light colored bars and not a definite positive. I am having egg white tacky CM and light cramps on or about my CD 17-20. Should I consider this my fertile time even though the tests don't acknowledge my LH? I have had blood work - great levels all around. What should I do????
773755 tn?1328119777 It's easy to think about all that we used to be able to do;or want to do-or what others do.But that only leads to dissatisfaction and disappointment in ourselves. Those with chronic illnesses need to pace themselves and remember that their value isn't decided by how they compare to healthier people.Just keep that in mind! I suffer everytime I 'overdo'!
Avatar n tn This thins mucus so that it *will* drain, also allowing the throat more moisture. I have also come across mention of people using guaifenesin in their treatment of fibromyalgia (https://www.drugs.com/comments/guaifenesin/for-fibromyalgia.html). Before I was ever diagnosed with fibromyalgia I noticed a decrease in pain that I was experiencing, so although I'm skeptical about the connection, I certainly won't discredit the possibility.
Avatar f tn Have you tried products containing Guaifenesin? This incredient thins secretions and is found in Mucinex (pricey) and products like that - BUT, if you can find a generic or plain Guaifenesin, you will save tons of money. You need to drink plenty of water for Guaifenesin to work. You may need to sleep with your head propped up temporarily, until [hopefully soon] you are well again. Good luck. I hope you find some relief soon.
Avatar m tn It can cause some of those things. Numbers 1,7,8,9 & 10. Are you washing your nose with warm salt water? Get a neti pot and do that every single day at least once - and get some guaifenesin. My 2nd ENT sat me down and said : "I'm going to give you the keys to the kingdom: Control the mucus. Mucus is caustic and it creates inflammation if it lingers in your system".
Avatar n tn Do not use this medicine if you have untreated or uncontrolled diseases such as glaucoma, asthma or COPD, high blood pressure, heart disease, coronary artery disease, or overactive thyroid. Avoid drinking alcohol. It may increase your risk of liver damage while taking acetaminophen and can increase certain side effects of chlorpheniramine.
1240856 tn?1333440354 We've been TTC since 09.2009 and I think my CM is the problem. I'm thinking of using cough medicine to try and make it better for the little swimmers this month. I found the ADSA chesty cough one has Guarfesinin in or whatever it's called. I did hear the boots one is good but they always ask you questions about ur cough which i wanted to avoid, as i don't have one.lol Anyway i've got some...when should i start taking it and how much should i take.
Avatar n tn Guaifenesin, how much is an Overdose? My daughter 11 years old 100 lbs (big for her age), took (the correct dose) 5mL cough and cold medicine that had the following in that dose. Guaifenesin, USP 100 mg, Dextromethorpan HBr, USP 10 mL. Phenylephedrine HCI, USB 5mg. But then she also took (the correct dose) 10 mg of a prescription medicine Guaifenesin-Codeine syrup (generic for Robitussin AC syrup). It doesn't state on the label the quantity of Guaifenesin mg in the 5mL dose.
Avatar n tn I've had asthma since I was little, and as far as I've gathered, expectorant is for non-asthmatic cough sufferers while mucolytics are for asthmatics. Is this true? What's confusing me though is why "guaifenesin", a component in one asthma pill I used to take, is used as an "expectorant", and the only OTC drug available for the purpose of easing the removal of phlegm here in the U.S.
Avatar n tn The alternative is guaifenesin, which you can buy over-the-counter. Mucinex contains guaifenesin, but I would get the plain guaifenesin. It works very well.
Avatar f tn I do know you only need the plain kind, nothing else should be in it just guaifenesin. If you get the one with that is mixed it can have the opposite reaction. Also you need to drink plenty of water!! YOu have to do this in order for it to work. I just started taking clomid and i read to start the guaifenesin on day 10 till ovulation. On a website for fertility i read that you need to take 200mg three times a day!
Avatar n tn yes, well sort of. It's Guaifenesin an ingredient found in cough meds. You can usually find a store brand of robitussin that has only Guaifenesin in it. The ingredient is made to break up mucus, but if taken while you ovulate it can make your CM more compatible with sperm.
Avatar n tn I am using Duoneb with nebulizer 5 or 6 times a day. Also I just started Spiriva one time a day. I have started having a very tight feeling in my chest. I feel it is beause the two meds are contraindicated. If this is true, how may I wean from the Duoneb? My family physician has diagnosed me as having COPD. Thank you.
Avatar f tn Guaifenesin to be specific?
Avatar f tn It requires you to take upto, but not limited to 2400mg of guaifenesin (Mucinex) daily. He says that with this protocol, you will notice that your symptoms will at first become worse, but will gradually disappear. He swears this is the way to reverse fibro. Now, when I heard this, I was obviously a little skepticle (who wouldn't be when you are told that Mucinex is the cure for fibro!) So I wanted to know if anyone here has heard of or tried this approach.
Avatar m tn constant dripping in the back of my throat and always clearing my throat. I drink plenty of fluids and take guaifenesin syurp 2 times a day. Any answers?? This discussion is related to chronic post nasal drip....
Avatar f tn iv been doing alot of looking on the internet about this sort of thing. there is a cough syrup called Robitussin (guaifenesin cough syrup) i know it sounds stupid because it is cough syrup, but as it has guaifenesin in it, it clears not only the mucas on your chest but also makes your cervical mucas thinner and runnier so the seman can swim through better. look it up on google. but make sure you get the one with guaifenesin in it as the other ones can dry up the cervical mucas .
Avatar f tn Has anyone ever gotten guaifenesin with codeine prescribe. Want to know feed back on it I'm 12+4 days. Help please trying to get rid of this plhuem I had still. But kinda un sure.
3103226 tn?1345829161 REPLICor to disclose interim REP 9AC’ clinical efficacy data in patients with chronic hepatitis B at the 22nd Conference of the Asian Pacific Association for the Study of the Liver (APASL 2012). 15-19 February 2012, Taiwan International Convention Center, Taipei, Taiwan.
Avatar m tn Spiriva is extremely drying and it will make for thick mucus that is hard to cough up. Advair is also drying and I note that your extremely high dose of that inhaled steroid is not generally recommended. I got rid of Spiriva because it was drying. It didn't help anyway. I got rid of Advair because I developed adrenal fatigue, osteoporosis, and it gave me a hacking cough which exhausted me and could not have been good for my lungs.
1769619 tn?1313888160 My younger brother, who was born with a GI birth defect, and as such has no motility in his esophagus, has suffered from this issue for years. The whole lot of us has or has had chronic sinus problems. For my brother, I know mucus plus an excellent gag reflex generally makes for a bad time (and yes, he does have the GERD as well). I've been taking the Guaifenesin type product to thin secretions, and I honestly think that has made things worse for me, at least as far as the vomiting.
