Chantix rx

Common Questions and Answers about Chantix rx

chantix

Avatar f tn Have you tried Chantix? If you have ins go to your doctor and ask him for chantix. It's a rx designed to block the nicotine receptors. You smoke while taking the med the first week and then you stop smoking, but continue the medicine. After the first week you will notice the cravings are mental but not so much physical. You can google "chantix" and you can learn more about it. I am 30 and have smoking since 12, it's the hardest habit to break.
Avatar m tn s the hardest....But, the one time I came very close was one i got a rx for Chantix, it actually worked well, but was so expensive i could not afford to refill the rx and started to smoke again. But, it blocks the nicotine receptors in the brain, so you smoke the first week while taking it and then you actually begin to notice that you are smoking our of habit and not out of craving. I worked in a dr. office and chantix worked for many of our patients....if possible see your dr for a script...
Avatar n tn hi kimmie, good luck with the quitting smoking - I did it in January after 35+ years. My recent stress makes me think I would be chain smoking if I hadn't quit! Did they give you a rx for chantix or something else? My stop smoking was done cold turkey but think "wow." I quit while in the hospital from a heart attack.
Avatar m tn just curious....how long have you been taking Chantix, and can you stop taking Chantix without the need to have either a cigarette or a Chantix 'fix'??
Avatar f tn I am not sure if this is muscular or something else I should be more concerned about???
1096641 tn?1271707225 I quit smoking on November 13. I was just down in Disney World and my man handed me a diamond ring!! Beautiful...we've been together 8 years. I never thought I'd get a ring! Anyway...we had a shot and a drink to celebrate our engagement...one led to more ... and I broke...I had two cigarettes! :( I have since had some alcohol on Christmas night and did NOT smoke...I didn't even want to smoke.
645800 tn?1466860955 Finally she called someone and found out that what I was telling her was how it works now so she relented to give me an Rx for Chantix. After all I have gone through to get the Rx I sure hope this works. Oh yeah one other point while I was talking to her about somkeing. At one point she help up the list I had brought with me and said anyone with an OCD tendency to make out a list like this surely can quite cold turkey. So I countered with I made out the list because I forget things a lot.
228936 tn?1249094248 I started almost a year ago and chantix which made it easier. Now I don't have the same Rx plan and haven't been taking it and really notice the craving. When I see people buy ciggs or smoke I miss it. I'm not that close to caving in and smoking just dissapointed to still miss it.
334876 tn?1229979296 s time to quit being the Marlboro man and quit smoking, my doc finally gave me the rx for chantix so I guess this is day one and I should see how good it works in about 7 days as it tends to taper off the well to smoke Wish me luck Cowboy
407029 tn?1253992623 does anyone know if chantix is hard on the liver? im taking it to stop smoking before TX? anyone knows of anyone who took it does it work?
1096641 tn?1271707225 I used Chantix and didn't have any complications. I have never heard of headaches related to Chantix and I just googled "chantix and headaches" which brought up several articles but there was nothing that links the two (mentions of Chantix and headache on the same page). Just wondering Terry where you heard/read it? My husband suffered from cluster headaches and they were nothing like the ones you describe. His were so intense and lasted sometimes for hours.
645800 tn?1466860955 When they talked about Chantix they said they would only give an RX for that if you have tried and failed 3 times with each of the other treatment options while under their care. But them only with the approval of your regular shrink. Since my regular shrink will not approve the use of this for anyone with PTSD even if they have been stable for years they won't do that one either.
Avatar f tn So your on both suboxone and chantix? Do you feel wierd or anything? Ive heard things about chantix like it causes nightmares and suicidle thoughts. Im kind of scared. Do you really feel good? How long have you been on suboxone?
Avatar f tn Not that I'm pro Chantix, but allow me to play devils advocate for a minute. When one contemplates quitting and then sets out to do it, there is a profound loss.....like losing your best friend, and we all have to deal with. I myself grieved long and hard. Could your depressed state be that you have finally come to terms with the fact that it is your time to quit? I used Chantix and mourned the loss but I also used it before it was linked to "possible" suicide.
Avatar f tn My friend just quit taking Chantix due to the inability to handle the side effects. She has noticed that since quitting the Chantix alcohol has effected her differently. While on the Chantix she noticed the effects of alcohol tokk in quite quickly where now she seems to have a tolerance that was not there before. Is it possible that theh Chantix caused her intolerabilty to alcohol?
596605 tn?1369946627 Hi I am on Chantix to quit smoking and quit a few days ago. I am very tired so tierd that I cant even turn on the TV.. Is this a normal side effect from going off nicotine? This is the third day that has been like this. I was a heavy smoker before at 1 1/2 packs a day for 30 plus years.
Avatar n tn I would not think that Chantix would affect your thyroid, but everyone is different. Are you still taking Chantix? I am assuming not. ALso, I feel compelled to mention that I too had the symptoms you had, except for the trouble breathing, and my vitamin D level was extremely deficient. You may want to get that checked. Wishing you the best.
Avatar m tn I quit smoking using Chantix as well. I am only 1 month non-smoking. I only took Chantix for 9 days as on the 9th day I found out i was pregnant. So I was non smoking and pregnant, to only two weeks later miscarry. I am not too sure if its from the hormones, or from the symptoms of not smoking, but i was extremely irritable, it was almost to the point that everything i that came out of my mouth was snappy. I developed insomnia right from the get go from Chantix.
Avatar f tn I used Chantix for my quit but had no ill side effects. Hindsight, I probably wouldn't use it again because of all the negativity so what I would suggest is if you have already gone 2 days without a smoke, you might want to consider stopping the Chantix. You are still going to have a physical withdrawal regardless of how long you use the pill though I don't know to what degree, all I can say is that I had a rough go of it.
Avatar n tn I have been on Chantix . My breast are swollen and tender. Has anyone else had this side effect. Not from my periods - had a hysterectomy 15 years ago.
Avatar f tn I, too, smoked for over 40 years. Between that and severe acid reflux, I had built up excess tissue on my vocal cords, to the point that I could hardly talk. I'd gotten to the point that it was so painful to even make sound that I tried not to talk as much as possible. I was sent to an ENT, who said he could remove that tissue (it wasn't cancer, but he was sure it would be soon), but he wouldn't touch me until I had quit smoking for 2 months.
Avatar f tn I took chantix for 1 1/2 months and experienced a little gas but that was all. I quit taking chantix 3 days after my last cigarette and that was 9 months 1 week and 4 days ago. I think I should consider myself one of the lucky ones as all I hear on this board is how bad chantix was for them! Outside of this board, I knew a dozen or so people who took it, and none of them had anything more serious then gas and bad dreams! I hope you start feeling better real soon and I hope that you have quit.
Avatar f tn I started having problems in Oct 2008 after taking Chantix for about a month. I quit taking the meds because I had a really bad reaction to it. I was angry, very emotional and thought of suicide. I have never been this way before and didn't like so I stopped the med. About a month later I had an episode where I was having slurred speech (alot) and I would drive to work and then sit there and think "how did I get here". I couldnt remember driving. This lasted or about a month.
