Hi~I have been on anti-depressants but not at the time I took Chantix. I would even call the pharmacist and ask if there is potential for problems taking both together. I did have major side effects-mostly nightmares, bad sleep, bad stomach aches and nausea so I stopped it before I quit smoking. I have started it again just two days ago. I am taking it at night with over the counter sleep aid because I know that was the hardest part. It also makes me a little cranky.
Lately, when I attempt to quit, cold turkey, the only thing that relieves constipation, gas, bloating is to smoke again. Smoking provides immediate relief and over the counter meds or diet/exercise changes do not seem to work. Does it just take many months for the Nicotine to leave the system and for gas symptoms to stop? Do I just need to stick it out longer?
An over the counter medication is any medication that can be purchased without a prescription "over the counter", but does not make the medication safer and needs to be taken according to the directions on the package and there is a need to be more vigilent and take into consideration individual health, the benefits versus the risks and potential interactions with any prescribed meidcations.
yes yes, I am clean from Vicoden, Antidepresants but still am using a sleep aid, have been using over the counter meds for sleep since the 80's then went to prescription sleep aid and now I only sleep 3 or 4 hours using them. I am going to go off them soon. My Dr would like to see me wait until Jan just because I came off two meds this year and had surgery's but please don't go to prescription sleep aids I think it is harder to get off them than OCT.
s the hardest....But, the one time I came very close was one i got a rx for Chantix, it actually worked well, but was so expensive i could not afford to refill the rx and started to smoke again. But, it blocks the nicotine receptors in the brain, so you smoke the first week while taking it and then you actually begin to notice that you are smoking our of habit and not out of craving. I worked in a dr. office and chantix worked for many of our patients....if possible see your dr for a script...
You could consider using over the counter aids like nicorette chewing gum or you could get a prescription for Chantix. I'm not as familiar with it with chewing tobacco but my assumption is that it works the same since it address the nicotine addiction.
You could always have a discussion with your dentist or primary care physician.

I woke up today and felt close to normal and then it came back again.
My friend just quit taking Chantix due to the inability to handle the side effects. She has noticed that since quitting the Chantix alcohol has effected her differently. While on the Chantix she noticed the effects of alcohol tokk in quite quickly where now she seems to have a tolerance that was not there before. Is it possible that theh Chantix caused her intolerabilty to alcohol?

There shouldn't be any chemical reactions taking the two together. The combination will not give the methadone a boost or cause any kind of "high".
