I had a really weird phone call the other day. I answered the phone and someone with a heavy accent asked me if I knew that ordering drugs from online pharmacies was illegal?( I haven't ordered from an online pharmacy in 2+ years.) So, I said yes. Then the man went on to say he was so and so from some agency and what I did was a federal crime and they were doing an investigation on online pharmacies. I told him I didn't think he was who he said he was and hung up.

I started having problems in Oct 2008 after taking Chantix for about a month. I quit taking the meds because I had a really bad reaction to it. I was angry, very emotional and thought of suicide. I have never been this way before and didn't like so I stopped the med. About a month later I had an episode where I was having slurred speech (alot) and I would drive to work and then sit there and think "how did I get here". I couldnt remember driving. This lasted or about a month.
I took chantix for 1 1/2 months and experienced a little gas but that was all. I quit taking chantix 3 days after my last cigarette and that was 9 months 1 week and 4 days ago.
I think I should consider myself one of the lucky ones as all I hear on this board is how bad chantix was for them! Outside of this board, I knew a dozen or so people who took it, and none of them had anything more serious then gas and bad dreams!

In England, the person we in the colonies call a pharmacist is a chemist, and the store we call a pharmacy (or drug store) is the chemist's shop. But, yeah, your druggist or pharmacist should give you a supply to tide you over. That sais, even though your doc is away -someone is taking calls for him, and can probably give you what you need.
I too have been a long-term smoker...I have tried several times and have been unable to quit....I started smoking at 12 and am now 30...I smoke more now then ever before, and I am starting to feel the effects....I tried patches, herbals and cold turkey....
The best thing I tried was Chantix...it's a prescription that you get from your doctor....It works by blocking nicotine from the nicotine receptors in the brain....you continue to smoke the first week while taking the medicine....
About four months ago I started my period and noticed sharp stabbing pains while going to the bathroom. When I looked online for answers I was pointed directly to endometriosis. So I made an appt with my doctor. After my exam she said she couldn't see anything abnormal, but that all my symptoms pointed to endometriosis. She gave me a prescription for a strong anti inflammatory and we made a follow up appt for 6 weeks later.
Not that I'm pro Chantix, but allow me to play devils advocate for a minute.
When one contemplates quitting and then sets out to do it, there is a profound loss.....like losing your best friend, and we all have to deal with. I myself grieved long and hard. Could your depressed state be that you have finally come to terms with the fact that it is your time to quit?
I used Chantix and mourned the loss but I also used it before it was linked to "possible" suicide.
My friend just quit taking Chantix due to the inability to handle the side effects. She has noticed that since quitting the Chantix alcohol has effected her differently. While on the Chantix she noticed the effects of alcohol tokk in quite quickly where now she seems to have a tolerance that was not there before. Is it possible that theh Chantix caused her intolerabilty to alcohol?
I would recommend that he contact his doctor and see if the doctor is familiar with an online pharmacy and could recommend one. (Your doctor may also have medication samples to offer you, which can ease the expense of purchasing supplies a tiny bit.)
