Common Questions and Answers about Chantix headache

chantix

444932 tn?1273980797 Sorry to hear that you had to quit the chantix. I guess I was one of the lucky ones! There are no quick fixes and even though chantix made it easier, there were still withdrawals and cravings. If you have had success using the patch then you really should try that again, read whyquit.com and post to the board when you are feeling vulnerable. Good luck!
1096641 tn?1271707225 which brought up several articles but there was nothing that links the two (mentions of Chantix and headache on the same page). Just wondering Terry where you heard/read it? My husband suffered from cluster headaches and they were nothing like the ones you describe. His were so intense and lasted sometimes for hours. He was diagnosed with them many years ago and a well respected headache clinic here in NYC. If I were you I would make sure my doctor knows about this.
Avatar f tn Thanks for the comments. Today is Friday. I decided to not take the evening Chantix last night to see if that helped the headache. I didn't have one last night but woke up with one. I took my morning pill and so far have been fine. Still no smoking. I really don't want one. I'll be glad to get over the hump with the physical effects, ie, headache, moodiness, etc.
596605 tn?1369946627 Hi I am on Chantix to quit smoking and quit a few days ago. I am very tired so tierd that I cant even turn on the TV.. Is this a normal side effect from going off nicotine? This is the third day that has been like this. I was a heavy smoker before at 1 1/2 packs a day for 30 plus years.
Avatar f tn I am a 32 year old female and was in excellent health (except for my smoking) until December. I took chantix one for a month last march to quit, fell off the wagon and started it again last december and quit for good. Since then I have had Heart palpitations and speeding up,a constant headache that doesn't go away, dizziness, confusion, trouble breathing, and pain behind my eyes. I have had every test and they can find nothing.
Avatar m tn Ok well it may be the Chantix... but I dont know... most symptoms I know of with Chantix are stomach related. Just in case I would try stopping... if you still get you know thats not it... However, i actually think you may have a sinus infection... Very common when you first quit. Usually appears as though you get a cold or something within the first 3 weeks... it's actually like all the crap is coming up from your system.
1609058 tn?1298089127 Evidently, the mixture of Lexapro and Chantix is not one to take lightly, and the fact that I abruptly stopped the Chantix caused me to have a severe withdrawal from the Chantix. Does anyone know more about this, or has anyone had any experience like this? I'm still blown away at all the stuff I said and did, very disconcerting to have absolutely no recollection of anything I said or did over 2 days time. Please help!
444932 tn?1273980797 I just started taking Chantix yesterday. I have heard lots of great things about this medication and how much it helps, but I've also heard lots of scary things - bad dreams, depression, suicidal/homicidal thoughts, hallucinations. Obviously, I chose to ignore all those things and take it anyway b/c I know me and I know that I need something pretty powerful to help me quit. I also quit taking pain pills four days ago.
Avatar f tn Prior to the onset of the the headaches, I was taking Hydrocodone (10/500) a couple of times a week for my neck, Chantix and Allie. A few weeks after the headaches started, I started taking Tylenol, Advil and Excederine to try and get rid of the headaches to no advail. All of these were listed on the paper that the neurologist's office mailed to me to fill out. They asked for all medications that I was taking at the time.
Avatar m tn Then, after reading about the three month window, I ordered another one at 95 days, which was again negative. I was on Chantix at the time and chalked up all of my nonsense to that drug, which can make you feel quite crazy at times (the dreams were interesting, to say the least). Now, Im off the Chantix, my tongue is still white, those red dots continue to multiply, and my tonsils are so large that they touch in the middle though they are not painful.
407029 tn?1253992623 does anyone know if chantix is hard on the liver? im taking it to stop smoking before TX? anyone knows of anyone who took it does it work?
Avatar f tn So your on both suboxone and chantix? Do you feel wierd or anything? Ive heard things about chantix like it causes nightmares and suicidle thoughts. Im kind of scared. Do you really feel good? How long have you been on suboxone?
Avatar f tn Not that I'm pro Chantix, but allow me to play devils advocate for a minute. When one contemplates quitting and then sets out to do it, there is a profound loss.....like losing your best friend, and we all have to deal with. I myself grieved long and hard. Could your depressed state be that you have finally come to terms with the fact that it is your time to quit? I used Chantix and mourned the loss but I also used it before it was linked to "possible" suicide.
Avatar f tn My friend just quit taking Chantix due to the inability to handle the side effects. She has noticed that since quitting the Chantix alcohol has effected her differently. While on the Chantix she noticed the effects of alcohol tokk in quite quickly where now she seems to have a tolerance that was not there before. Is it possible that theh Chantix caused her intolerabilty to alcohol?
Avatar n tn I would not think that Chantix would affect your thyroid, but everyone is different. Are you still taking Chantix? I am assuming not. ALso, I feel compelled to mention that I too had the symptoms you had, except for the trouble breathing, and my vitamin D level was extremely deficient. You may want to get that checked. Wishing you the best.
444932 tn?1273980797 I've been taking chantix to quit smoking but I started that over one week ago so I would think that would have started before now, don't you? Nothing else new. Guess I'll just have to suck it up and deal with it. Thanks for writing back.
Avatar m tn I quit smoking using Chantix as well. I am only 1 month non-smoking. I only took Chantix for 9 days as on the 9th day I found out i was pregnant. So I was non smoking and pregnant, to only two weeks later miscarry. I am not too sure if its from the hormones, or from the symptoms of not smoking, but i was extremely irritable, it was almost to the point that everything i that came out of my mouth was snappy. I developed insomnia right from the get go from Chantix.
511488 tn?1214620496 My doc gave me the trams, flexeril and I started taking the chantix (stop smoking pill), something was interacting b/c I was getting horrible pressure headaches...like the top of my head was going to pop off. I asked the pharmacy if they know if any of the drugs counteracted and they said no.
Avatar n tn I have been on Chantix . My breast are swollen and tender. Has anyone else had this side effect. Not from my periods - had a hysterectomy 15 years ago.
Avatar f tn I, too, smoked for over 40 years. Between that and severe acid reflux, I had built up excess tissue on my vocal cords, to the point that I could hardly talk. I'd gotten to the point that it was so painful to even make sound that I tried not to talk as much as possible. I was sent to an ENT, who said he could remove that tissue (it wasn't cancer, but he was sure it would be soon), but he wouldn't touch me until I had quit smoking for 2 months.
Avatar f tn I took chantix for 1 1/2 months and experienced a little gas but that was all. I quit taking chantix 3 days after my last cigarette and that was 9 months 1 week and 4 days ago. I think I should consider myself one of the lucky ones as all I hear on this board is how bad chantix was for them! Outside of this board, I knew a dozen or so people who took it, and none of them had anything more serious then gas and bad dreams! I hope you start feeling better real soon and I hope that you have quit.
Avatar f tn I started having problems in Oct 2008 after taking Chantix for about a month. I quit taking the meds because I had a really bad reaction to it. I was angry, very emotional and thought of suicide. I have never been this way before and didn't like so I stopped the med. About a month later I had an episode where I was having slurred speech (alot) and I would drive to work and then sit there and think "how did I get here". I couldnt remember driving. This lasted or about a month.
Avatar n tn We are not medical doctors so if you want to know about the side effects then you should call them (chantix) directly at 1-877-CHANTIX. Also, there is something that comes with the prescription that tells you about the risks. You had better read up on it. Sorry to hear that you are having seizures. I took chantix with very little side effects. Good luck with everything and if you need support with your quit, then we are here for you.
Avatar f tn I was taking Chantix for about a week and a half when I had to quit it because I was experiencing depression which was getting worse by the day. This is going on the 2nd full day of no Chantix but I am still feeling depressed. I want to know how long does it stay in your system for. I woke up today and felt close to normal and then it came back again.
Avatar n tn It could be the Chantix or if you are female it could be menopause : ) Seriously though, I think that this may have been a side effect listed. Are you having nigthmares along with the night sweats? Here is a number that you can call: Call 1-866-706-2400. Ask the person on the other end if it is normal. My experience with Chantix was pretty good but I stopped taking Chantix after my third quit day. All total, a month and a half, and I didn't look back.
