Chantix and getting pregnant

Common Questions and Answers about Chantix and getting pregnant

chantix

Avatar f tn Another thing is if you have been trying to get pregnant then you need to go ahead and quit because smoking before getting pregnant causes problems with the development of your placenta and the fetus. It doesn't just hurt to smoke during pregnancy. It's so very hard to quit and people who have never smoked have no understanding. It is my opinion to stay away from Chantix. Cutting down before quitting would be better.
Avatar m tn time and the amount of time that has elapsed since your use of Chantix. It has been almost 3 1/2 months for me and I am still getting urges and am still quick tempered, just not as often as before : ) I think we will always struggle, quitting is life altering especially if you have smoked for a long time (38 yrs. for me.) I know it will get easier and the cravings will only happen every once in a while and sometimes temper and irritability isn't about addiction but something else.
1096641 tn?1271707225 I used Chantix and didn't have any complications. I have never heard of headaches related to Chantix and I just googled "chantix and headaches" which brought up several articles but there was nothing that links the two (mentions of Chantix and headache on the same page). Just wondering Terry where you heard/read it? My husband suffered from cluster headaches and they were nothing like the ones you describe. His were so intense and lasted sometimes for hours.
Avatar n tn For 17 months i am still undx will get tests back in a few days ...and i want to finally quit smoking but they want me to wait to fill the prescription until all my tests come back now im getting worried ...
Avatar n tn Being that I too have had a partial hysterectomy 5 years ago I looked into if in fact I can still get pregnant and just fyi you can and it can be very harmful but this seems to make a bit more sense. They don't necessarily hurt just sore and can definitely tell they are a bit enlarged which is kind of nice. Much better than finding out you are pregnant. I'll take this as a side effect!
Avatar m tn I have a question for those of you who used the Chantix to kick the cigarettes. I have smoked on and off for years, and I have quit several times for long periods of time, but this time I am in need of some sort of assistance doing it (the thought of no cigarettes is worse for me than the thought of no norco ever was). I don't want to spend any more money on cigarettes, I hate the smell of cigarette smoke, I always have, pretty weird for a smoker, huh?
729288 tn?1251254433 I will pay the $215 on monday for my shipment then I am waiting the 2 weeks suggested and beginning. Here is my question. I am also on chantix.. the stop smoking drug. I really need to stop because I think 27 years is long enough to smoke for anyone. Does anyone know if it will have any kind of reaction? My doc told me to go ahead it wouldnt hurt me.
Avatar f tn It even feels as though my lungs feel hot and dry. I was achy, all over including chest pains and pains down my arms. I was getting a strange startle feeling in different locations on my body. My legs one heartbeat, torso the next, these in no relation to my heartbeat. A different throbbing sensation, especially in my face and lips. Worst of all, a fatigue so severe it was like dragging 50 pounds of wet sand behind me. Some dizziness.
Avatar m tn By the way, you can always tell that a drug is affecting brain neurotransmitters when you see those warnings they give out, as you do with Chantix, and they warn that they can cause suicidal and violent thoughts and the like. This warning is a dead giveaway that the drug is affecting similar things that antidepressants and anti anxiety drugs and anti psychotics are playing around with.
Avatar f tn I was taking Chantix for about a week and a half when I had to quit it because I was experiencing depression which was getting worse by the day. This is going on the 2nd full day of no Chantix but I am still feeling depressed. I want to know how long does it stay in your system for. I woke up today and felt close to normal and then it came back again.
Avatar f tn I think headaches are part of the withdrawal anyways because I am getting them myself and right now i just woke up feeling sick, nauseous, and I have a really bad headache. Worse of all my lungs are burning still and I can't breathe very well. My suggestion to you is try stopping the chantix and see how you feel. Then you could resume taking it if you feel the withdrawals and cravings come back really strong? Might want to ask a Doctor on that one just to be sure.
984138 tn?1359813073 DON"T DO CHANTIX. My son, 19, took chantix for 3 months and the research was not done on young people. He did quit smoking but at a great risk to his health. It has been 10 months of hell since he went off the med. While on the med he has mild side effects but after many blood tests, a positive ANA and anxiety/panic attacks - he is slowly getting healthy again. We did not do our homework and the result was a very sick young man.
Avatar m tn Hello everyone,I have a progressive case of hepatitis C and want to use the drug Chantix to quit smoking and worried about the side affects.Does anyone have any knowledge of this drug interaction.
Avatar f tn I have smoked for 40+ years and want to QUIT! My Dr gave me a script for Chantix but after seeing some Thyroid issues here I'm concerned. I have no Thyroid due to Follicular Thyroid Cancer, I take Levothyroxine daily for the rest of my life and have to have blood work every 6 months to maintain my TSH T3 T4 levels to prevent the cancer from returning. Is it safe for me to take CHANTIX?
Avatar n tn I took Chantix for 2 weeks and that was enough to stop. The sickness particularly inthe morning and breast soreness was like pregnancy all over again only much worse. I have stopped taking them 9 days ago and am now smoke-free 14 days. The thoughts of having to turn to Chantix again to a barrier that encourages me to keep strong and fight any cravings.
Avatar n tn ve been a smoker for 40+ years also and after stopping Chantix I started getting night sweats, not able to sleep for more than 4 or 5 hours a night waking up sweating , tired & unable to go back to sleep.
Avatar m tn I quit smoking 7 days ago and three days in I was attempting to handle things myself and as I was getting to the happy point, the base of my neck felt like I had been hit with a brick (not a turn on)! I was terrified as the headache slowly made its way to the front of my head and into my eyes. The pain made it impossible to continue. I was scared I was having a stroke, I ran and took two Ibupro and two aspirin just in case.
427279 tn?1210919821 i was just wondering if any one here uses chantix and is it helping you?....
Avatar n tn Although Chantix does not contain any nicotine, it acts on nicotine receptors in the brain. This is how the drug works to help people stop smoking. By binding to nicotine receptors, it blocks the effects of nicotine at those sites, helping to prevent the pleasurable effects of smoking. However, Chantix doesn't just bind to nicotine receptors; it also acts a little bit like nicotine, which may help to prevent symptoms of nicotine withdrawal.
Avatar m tn He turned on everyone, his wife and family. It changed him in a shocking way. Everyone thinks it is mid life crisis, and yes getting helthy and giving up cigarettes, it was time for that, but he went very depressed angry and blaming. Then he gave champix up and went manic?
407029 tn?1253992623 I was smoke free within 3 weeks of starting the Chantix and on March 4, 2008 I will be smoke free for an entire year! They recommend that you use the Chantix for 3 to 6 months. I did so well with it that I was off it in less than 3 months. When you start forgetting to take it you know it's time to come off it. If I could, I we be a walking advertisement for Chantix. I had tried the patch, the gum, zyban and hypnosis in the past and got absolutely no where.
950277 tn?1247274551 I have been on chantix now for almost 2 weeks! The only side effect I am getting is my dreams. They are out of control. Has anyone else had this crazy dreams?
1096641 tn?1271707225 Make sure that you are mentally prepared before getting off the chantix. Spend a little time on the whyquit.com website and try to understand why you became addicted. It really is more an emotional one then a physical one. Read the articles under "Education" and it will really help you should you get a crave.
1609058 tn?1298089127 I've had an awful experience that I must share and find out if anyone else has gone through it. I currently take Lexapro 10mg, a mild antidepressant, and it's wonderful for me. A little over a month ago, I requested a prescription for Chantix to quit smoking. Even though I'd heard lots of negative things about the side effects, I thought it was worth trying. After 4 weeks of taking it, I did notice that my mood was being affected, so I decided to stop taking it.
Avatar f tn I saw my Dr right away and she confirmed there are no interactions between Chantix and Effexor. She felt that the nicotine withdrawls, combined with the side effects of the Chantix is what caused the severe anxiety.
Avatar f tn Early pregnancy and can't quit smoking entirely-yes I know it's AWFUL and am mad at myself and feel terribly guilty but I can't seem to give it up completely. Anyone know if chantix or the patch is better or worse than actually smoking & pg? Ideally I'd be able to quit but can't so far.
