572651 tn?1530999357 If you saw my email inbox you might be surprised at some of the mail I receive. I have signed up on distribution lists for many medical sites, including Nursing Times from the UK. I received an announcement today about an upcoming convention in LONDON, that may be of interest to some of you. This convention/conference is September 29-30 and the registration is FREE. I wish I could go, but its a bit far to commute. Some of you who live in the UK may be interested, though.
Avatar m tn i have read an article stating how some people may have been exposed to the hiv virus (and hepatitis) because the hospital didnt use the proper sterilization on colonoscopy equipment. and another similar article that stated those that underwent ear, nose, and throat treatments were exposed too. how likely is someone to catch the hiv virus from a situation like this?
Avatar m tn The article you reference makes no mention of HIV - that is because HIV cannot be transmitted that way. If you have other questions about the safety of using dental equipment, we suggest visiting the Dental Health forum, as this forum is HIV specific.
Avatar n tn My dad is 84 y.o. and just had a quadruple bypas. He is leaving CCU today and going to a regular floor. I want to know what limitations my dad will have when he is discharged. I know he will be weak, and he won't be able to do things. I know he won't be able to lift heavy objects, but what are the exact limitations.
Avatar m tn Tattoo artists/piercers are trained on safety measures regarding bloodborne pathogens and do not reuse needles and they sterilize equipment between all customers.
Avatar n tn Power-generating equipment, arc welding equipment and powerful magnets (as in medical devices, heavy equipment or motors) can inhibit pulse generators. Patients who work with or near such equipment should know that their pacemakers may not work properly in those conditions. Cellphonelphones available in the United States (less than 3 watts) don't seem to damage pulse generators or affect how the pacemaker works.
Avatar f tn Or get sound-blocking earmuffs of the kind they sell at equipment dealers and just go back to your bed whether your husband is snoring like a chainsaw or not. I assume your concern is keeping your son from being in the habit of sleeping with a parent, not so much as keeping him out of the living room per se? If you get yourself back into your own bed, your son might just go back to his own room and his own bed.
Avatar f tn thanks for sharing that, Mike. one of my favorite gifts was a chainsaw -really! I've also gotten a super-duper leaf blower and other yard tools .. Now if only this year my family could give me some energy to use them!
Avatar f tn I am so scared:) I was at a discount store and poked my hand with a safety pin that was taken apart, basically mangled. It looked like somebody had twisted it. It was on top of a clothing rack. It drew blood on me. The store had just opened and I am wondering if someone had purposely placed it there. Can I get hiv fro it and if not can you explain why? Thank you I am so scared!!!!
475300 tn?1312423126 Since were talking about tattoos-I was a tattoo artist in the 1980s and early 90s.One way hepC is transmitted via tattoo is interesting. Even though everything (equipment ,etc.) has been medically sterilized in an autoclave, there's a place some inexperienced tattooists miss. First, I fill a small cup with ink, and then begin the tattoo. I dip the bloody needles into the ink, and back to your skin. No problem there. Now, I run low on ink and refill the cup.
Avatar m tn It sounds like your doctor uses the same sort of equipment that used to be routine (20+ years ago), i.e. a sterile bacteriological loop. These were the norm among many STD specialists before modern disposalble swabs becamse widely available. And my guess the scalpel blade was disposable, single-use. There is no reasonable possibility the doctor does not carefully sterilizes the loop (and scalpel, if not disposablet) between patients.
Avatar m tn Third, almost all phlebotomy and injection equipment are now manufactured to be a ONE use only item, with safety features that actually render the equipment unable to be used a second time. If you cannot accept this, then get yourself some professional help.
Avatar f tn Good grief Suzanne! You mean that dork had the cheek to get in touch after he was so rude and hurtful? Jeez. This is exactly the sort of thing that we need the CQC to be looking at. I'd love to see the MRI of the appointment as inserted by you into his defecatory equipment! LOL. What were your LP results?
2168213 tn?1357062544 I'm 12wks now and our sex life has been great. But my husband wanted to spice it up and bought me dildo/vibrator. I haven't had that and never experienced it. Anyone use it? Is it safe for the baby? I definitely don't want to risk the safety of my baby with my sexual pleasure. My little one is precious!!!
689265 tn?1251130087 there are highchairs, travel cots and prams with rain covers all for just £25 each. breast pumps are going for £10, lindam adjustable safety gates for £15 and there are plenty of other bargains too.
403255 tn?1278813266 My question is that if you can only sterilise equipment just before you use it and you can only make up formula before you use it and it only lasts an hour before it is unsafe.....how am I ever supposed to get out of the house with my babies??? I am having to top up with nutriprem 2 when I haven't enough expressed breast milk to feed my twins and I am trying to find ways to make things easier so that I can sleep instead of preparing bottles.
1675985 tn?1323719076 Where do you live? I know there are different, safety established options in both Canada and the US. I also suffered greatly from morning sickness in both of my pregnancies and understand how awful it can be. Can you call your doctor's office and express your concern and ask for a safety established option? Insist to speak with him/her today. I tried googling the drug but couldn't find anythign other than warnings against taking it while pregnant.
Avatar f tn But at the same time you say his mood changes quickly so I would fear for her safety when suggesting he get help. If you feel this is a dangerous situation, normally you could have an intervention and his wife could have him hospitalized to ensure everyone's safety and to get him the proper help. I don't know how things work in the UK, but somehow this man needs professional help.
Avatar n tn Buy safety pins. Decorate each one of them. Ladies get one at arrival to pin on their cloths. During the baby shower if anyone sees u cross your legs they keep your pin. ( prize to who ever has the most pins) Play do. Each one has a can of play do and each one has 1 min to make a baby. Then you take of the scarf and see which baby you like. Charade's with baby items. Gerber good blind fold two guest and see how many baby foods they can guess.
Avatar m tn I am asking because I currently reside in Africa and even though the facility I went is of a UK charity with all the equipment in place, I still have my concerns.
Avatar f tn re doing too much (be especially vigilant about staying hydrated, stretching to avoid injuring joints and ligaments that are softening because of pregnancy, and be aware that most women experience a small to moderate amount of dizziness during pregnancy which should be taken into account if doing exercises that require balance). if you have any questions about the safety of certain exercises or the use of certain equipment make sure and ask your doctor prior to use.
Avatar m tn We just had sex last few days with any safety equipment like condoms. We are both virgin. 1 hour before we had sex, i did masturbate. Then we started to have sex and i didn't shoot out my sperms inside. I would like to ask in this situation how high or low the chance of my girlfriend will get pregnant?
