Avatar f tn Liver Cancer Cells Coaxed To Commit Suicide By Common Anti-Inflammatory The anti-inflammatory drug celecoxib, known by the brand name Celebrex, triggers liver cancer cell death by reacting with a protein in a way that makes those cells commit suicide, according to a new study. Researchers also found that the combination of celecoxib with each of two chemotherapy drugs killed more liver cancer cells in culture, making those combinations more effective than either drug on its own.
373367 tn?1246402035 He calls this molecular mimicry and says that this happens to people predisposed to having MS. I knew that the body attacked itself, but didn't reallize it was because it saw the myelin as a section of a bacteria/virus. I know a lot of you have had EBV and might find this interesting. OR, maybe I was the only one who hadn't put it all together--lol!
Avatar m tn I am in desperate need of losing some weight. I gained twenty pounds in two months. I plan on joining a local gym and starting a healthier diet. I was wondering if anyone had any experience with weight loss supplements from stores like Gnc or the vitamin shoppe. I just need something to get me started. My doctor prescribed me an amphetamine medication but I decided not to take it because I don't like to take narcotic meds. Any experience and feedback is welcomed.
Avatar m tn A man aged 81 was taking celecoxib 100mg daily following knee replacement surgery for osteoarthritis. Three weeks after commencing celecoxib he developed jellybean-shaped loss of vision centrally in each eye. This occurred every day after his morning dose and lasted for a few hours. The celecoxib was stopped and there was no recurrence of the visual disturbance.
Avatar m tn t seen anything positive about Celecoxib. My question is how long should I wait until I start taking this on a regular basis. Because, I have had many alcoholic drinks in my time, but if I stay sober should I be able to take this within 2 weeks? I'm only saying that because I'm assuming it might be a good window opportunity for my liver to start healing!
Avatar f tn Ah thanks for your comment,, I have tried celecoxib and arcoxia as my doctors advised but I already got immune with this meds as they can't controll the pain anymore..
Avatar n tn I had my 2nd FNA two weeks ago after my first one came back with hurthle cells and suspicious.  They sent my 2nd biopsy for molecular testing and my results came back as suspicious again. So I'm meeting with an endo surgeon next week. If both biopsies were suspicious AND the molecular testing was suspicious I'm assuming it means if my nodule isn't cancer now that it will be in the future. Is this a correct assessment?
Avatar n tn No prospective randomized trials including an untreated control group confirming the benefit of low molecular weight heparin in preventing pregnancy loss in thrombophilic women have been performed. However, the concordant results of the studies cited above suggest that anticoagulation may improve pregnancy outcome in thrombophilic women.
Avatar f tn I just did one after I fell and found out that I should not even be on half the medications I am on due to my Celecoxib. So I ended up falling the other day and really messed up my right ankle, low back, neck and right wrist. I was out camping with the hubby and so I took a couple of Benedryll to help me sleep since I was in so much pain...Very Bad Move, it dropped my Blood Pressure way down and caused me to be sensitive to the sun and get sunburned. I was so dizzy.
Avatar m tn 12 pmol/L = 0.93 ng/dL = 0.00093 µg/dL due to molecular weight T4: 777 ==> leads to different conversion factors for different types of measures. You are right about the TRAS, thyroid receptor antibodies. Again, thanks for your reply. Much appreciated.
Avatar m tn You should be considering medications (probably metformin) and also losing weight if you are overweight, increasing activity / exercise levels and eating a lower carb diet to help get this under control.
Avatar n tn Aspirin, alcohol (in cough compounds and pediatric elixers), morphine, codeine, dextromethorphan (“DM” in cough compounds), nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory agents, procaine, opiates (codeine, Demerol, morphine), thiamine, high molecular weight polymers (dextran). Medicines, topical: Topical antibiotics containing polymyxin B. Medicines sometimes used with general anesthesia: D-tubocurarine, scopolamine, decamethonium, resperpine.
Avatar n tn Other than that, achieving and maintaining proper weight and avoiding alcohol are about all she can do in terms of diet.
Avatar m tn my father have 76 years of age now with a bp 220/150 and globally hypokinetic lv with severe dystolic lv dysfunction now treating with low molecular weight heparin. what is your comment please mail to *****************@ gmail.
Avatar f tn Hi, I'm an RN and I can tell you that heparin and levonox are basically the exact same thing. They are often used interchangeably in hospitals. The major difference in the molecular weight. Otherwise they do the exact same thing. However, you shouldn't be taking heparin and aspirin 325 at the same time, it might thin out your blood to a dangerous degree. You usually have to do an INR to monitor the blood clotting ability and to ensure that your blood isn't too thin.
Avatar m tn However, one study failed to find any difference between high molecular weight and low molecular weight beta-glucan for normalizing cholesterol and blood sugar levels.34 Safety Issues Beta-glucan, as a substance widely present in foods, is thought to have a high margin of safety. However, if it really does activate the immune system, harmful effects are at least theoretically possible in people with conditions where the immune system is overactive.
