Avatar f tn Liver Cancer Cells Coaxed To Commit Suicide By Common Anti-Inflammatory The anti-inflammatory drug celecoxib, known by the brand name Celebrex, triggers liver cancer cell death by reacting with a protein in a way that makes those cells commit suicide, according to a new study. Researchers also found that the combination of celecoxib with each of two chemotherapy drugs killed more liver cancer cells in culture, making those combinations more effective than either drug on its own.
Avatar m tn A man aged 81 was taking celecoxib 100mg daily following knee replacement surgery for osteoarthritis. Three weeks after commencing celecoxib he developed jellybean-shaped loss of vision centrally in each eye. This occurred every day after his morning dose and lasted for a few hours. The celecoxib was stopped and there was no recurrence of the visual disturbance.
Avatar m tn t seen anything positive about Celecoxib. My question is how long should I wait until I start taking this on a regular basis. Because, I have had many alcoholic drinks in my time, but if I stay sober should I be able to take this within 2 weeks? I'm only saying that because I'm assuming it might be a good window opportunity for my liver to start healing!
Avatar f tn Ah thanks for your comment,, I have tried celecoxib and arcoxia as my doctors advised but I already got immune with this meds as they can't controll the pain anymore..
618585 tn?1236714644 This kind of pain may be controlled by taking non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDS) like celecoxib. However, other possible causes of the low back pain should be investigated. Blood levels of uric acid can increase as the tumor disintegrates because of the chemotherapy. This can also cause joint and low back pains. Tumor spread to the spine and hip bones is another possible cause of severe low back pain.

Avatar f tn It is common for many young women to have a breast lesion similar to the one you describe. In medical parlance, it is called a fibroadenoma. It is sometimes called a "breast mouse" because of its mobility. Please dont worry about it. However, this should be a good opportunity for you to learn about breast health. Please surf the internet to access sites that describe the correct way to perform a breast self examination. Perform this every month.
Avatar n tn and the activation of COX-2 is implicated in HCV-associated liver cancer, so inhibiting COX-2 with something like Celebrex, would maybe help prevent liver cancer. That's why many hepatologists have no problem using it. But as you say, your doctor is the only one who's familiar with your condition and only he can tell you whether it is safe for you to use Celebrex (or any other meds).
Avatar n tn Lumps that do not hurt when you press down on them, and are in and around the lobules/stroma of the breast are cancer lumps. Breast cancer occurs in the lymph system. Certain moles also indicate cancer. Melanoma with asymmetrical and uneven flat edges are cancer moles. Melanoma with symmetrical, even edges are noncancerous moles. Here is a link for cancerous moles. (https://www.google.com/search?
Avatar n tn If you find changes or something unusual in one of your breasts, it’s important to see a health care provider as soon as possible. But keep in mind that most breast changes are not cancer. The best way is to consult a best doctor near to you.
