Celebrex vs naproxen

Common Questions and Answers about Celebrex vs naproxen

celebrex

Avatar f tn Naproxen is just ibuprofen, which is Motrin and Aleve. I would think Celebrex would help a lot more than Naproxen. It can't hurt to ask for it. Naproxen didn't do anything for me, except hurt my stomach. The Celebrex helped a lot, right away.
Avatar f tn I take celebrex and it seems to give me some relief.Because its an anti-inflammatory med, it could help a lot with swollen areas. Sometimes it's tough to tell when you are several different meds - which one helps the most? I've never had a bad reaction to celebrex and it's easier on the stomach than ones like naproxen - which caused an ulcer in lower esophogous. Hope and pray it gives you relief.
Avatar f tn Last week, I had a rash that was red, non-itchy, and looked like pin-points, this was all over (knees to shoulders). The physician did have me on Celebrex. Which I do know is a sulphamide and I am allergic to sulpha drugs, but in turn, the side effects to Celebrex also mentioned if a rash develops it could be related to liver disease...I was only on the Celebrex for 2 days, so I am still in the dark about the rash. Often at times, I am waking up in the night because of the pain.
418155 tn?1205409893 yey....it is good stuff and safer than celebrex....I take naproxen sodium which is very similar....my son hurt his knee and had fluid on it...he took it for a week and applied ice and it healed up.....I like it because for me I can take as needed instead of everyday...most have to build up in your system and can not be used on a prn basis...
Avatar m tn I started taking Celebrex two months ago and have gained 18 lbs since. I am wondering if anyone has gained weight on Celebrex? I have a sprained lumbar, lumbago syndrome with back spasms. I can't take narcotic pain meds. Any alternative to Celebrex? Naproxen does nothing for my pain.
Avatar f tn Hi all, recently diagnosed with Achilles tenosynovitis, and treatment of celebrex is not doing the trick. Not using it normally but cannot rest 24/7. Was not given crutches, concerned my weight (I'm about 40 lbs overweight) is hindering my recovery. Still in pain, limping and have some swelling - all docs told me it should be normal in a few days with the celebrex. I'm traveling and cannot afford to be immobile.
Avatar f tn t really that affective for me but my insurance made me try practically every NSAID on the market before they would approve Celebrex. They denied Celebrex and even recommended a PPI (ulcer med) to take with the NSAID's because they didn't want to pay for Celebrex. After they denied me 4 or 5 times, they finally approved it. So now I take 400mg of Celebrex a day and it's a lot more effective than any other NSAID i've been on.
531416 tn?1213145679 Hi Kimberly66, Check my post i just putted about Celebrex vs neuropathy cause as i understand you have use Celebrex in the past and its exactly my case and now i'm coping with neuropathy. I'm sure Celebrex is the cause of it. Good luck.
Avatar n tn I was recently diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis and prescribed Plaquenil and naproxen (for swelling and pain relief.) I am on a low sodium diet for meniere's disease. Various pain relievers make me retain fluid......making me too dizzy and light headed to drive. Can you recommend a product, OTC or prescription, that contains little to no sodium? I have read the sodium in pain relievers help to quicken relief of pain......
1629986 tn?1299685955 I do know a lot of first line meds for arthritis are NSAIDS (naproxen...celebrex etc) I take valium right now for anxiety but it doesnt work at all but it works great for others. It is also used for muscle spasms (again doesnt work for me) but I havent heard it being used for arthritis but it may help with your anxiety. I would go back to your Dr and first of all let him know the citalapram isnt working.
Business man2 mineral tablet (“A to Z” brand), - 1 raspberry keytone (sold by Walgreens), - 2 fish oil soft gels 1200mg (Walgreens brand) , - 2 ibuprofen (200mg each) usually, OR 2 acetaminophen (500mg each), OR 2 naproxen sodium (220mg each), OR 1 Rx meloxicam 15mg. (Pain killer taken for residual pain from knee being “scoped” 1/20/12) What is the doctor’s opinion?
Avatar n tn I agree controlling your blood pressure is very important, but something to think about also is that pain itself can cause an increase in blood pressure, so there needs to be a happy medium I think. I know that when my pain levels increase, my blood pressure also goes up some (not as high as when on the celebrex though!) My case is a bit complicated - I have several other chronic pain issues as well as my severe arthritis.
482543 tn?1248355421 I tried looking that up on the internet and all that comes up is Rheumatoid arthritis. He has put me on Plaquenil and Celebrex. Do I have RA? I am going to ask for a copy of my labs to see exactly what is on them and he also told me that as far as my x-rays go my feet and knees show signs of wear and I have a bone spur on each heel.
Avatar n tn No constapation and been taking ibprofin for pain
Avatar m tn Cat scan said I had minor sinus infection..I also had chest xray which was normal..I tried celebrex and naproxen for inflammation, not really helping..naproxen seemed to work better but after awhile didnt do much..I have tramadol that I take to try to calm everything down..The only thing that seems to work is alcohol..When I drink liquor my body is numb and relaxed and I dont feel the pain as much..
453731 tn?1225199508 You should not take acetaminophen (Tylenol), aspirin, or NSAIDs (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs) unless your doctor has told you to. NSAIDs include celecoxib (Celebrex), diclofenac (Voltaren), ibuprofen (Motrin, Advil), indomethacin, naproxen (Aleve, Naprosyn), piroxicam (Feldene), and others. These medicines may affect blood clotting and could cause serious bleeding in your stomach or intestines. Avoid sudden changes in your diet. Vitamin K decreases the effects of Coumadin.
Avatar m tn on day 10....today my doctor prescribed me Naproxen for my chronic back pain. I know I could search this, but would rather ask anyone with any experience with it's use. Good idea or not to use after 10 days clean. I dont even know if it's a "mild" narcotic or not, however I believe it's similar to Aleeve. Advice? thanks in advance.
548642 tn?1266179652 my gi didnt even know the dose to celebrex so i doubt he knows if its good to my liver! im telling yall hes stupid and i need to find a new dr asap!
Avatar m tn Has anyone used Celebrex for their Crohn's? I have severe joint point pain and I have been told that Celebrex is a huge help for this. I am wondering about side effects and medicine interactions.
Avatar n tn She is 64 but she also has osteoporosis and arthritis in her lower back. The back doctor just prescribed Celebrex, is this the safest drug for her? Also what should people with Hep C do to better care for their liver eventhough so far she seems to have a healthy liver. For the osteoporosis she is on Fosamax. She has been on it for several years. I am just afraid that too many potent drugs can be harmful for her liver.
Avatar f tn I have been prescibed Celebrex for osteoarthris pain. Can it be taken every day for long term management of arthritis.
