Avatar n tn If you are in the Houston area and have lots of money to spend, you can get a referral to Gulf Coast Veterinary Specialists in the Galleria area. That facility practices human-level veterinary medicine. If anything can be done, it will be done there. Cost is a big consideration, but more importantly, quality of the remaining life of your dog. Sometimes even if a treatment is available, it isn't fair to put the dog through it.
Avatar n tn If your cat were my patient, I would refer you to a veterinary teaching hospital to be evaluated by a veterinary nephrologist, and other specialists. Is there a veterinary teaching hospital or a referral clinic, with veterinary specialists near you?
Avatar f tn Homeopathic medicine definitely has a place, but in my opinion, it should not be the only treatment. If at at all possible, I hope you can convince your mom to consult with a vet who also focuses on western veterinary medicine. You may also want to consult Dr. Cheng here at Med Help on the Ask a Vet forum. She practices both western and holistic veterinary medicine and I'm certain she can give you some insight on this subject.

If surgery is not recommended, or if you choose not to have surgery performed, than acupuncture is worth a try.
Avatar f tn Your doctor may have an explanation to account for your symptoms but, if not he/she may have to empirically prescribe another drug, one not in the category of bactrim and Cefdinir. It would also be reasonable for you to ask your doctor to contact the pharmaceutical manufacturers of these drugs to find out if reactions such as yours have been reported.
Avatar m tn Third, what are my odds of catching Syphillis give it is more prevelant in SE Asia and Thailand. My final question is that I visited a doctor in HK and he prescribed Cefdinir 300mgs, 2x a day for 2 weeks to treat possible STDs like gonorrhea, chlamydia or nongonococcal urethritis (NGU) and he also indicated this could treat Syphilis. Avatar n tn - Was getting chronic ear infections so tubes were put in December 2020. Still had a cough, Cefdinir antibiotic was prescribed and cough went away. - 4 weeks later cough is back. Mainly has coughing fits while lying down and ranges from 10 minutes – 1 hr. Affects sleep. It seems like this cough has a cycle, will only go away for a short period time with an antibiotic (which I don’t want to keep giving her if I don’t have to), but will come back just weeks later.
Avatar f tn At the Veterinary News Network, we have been following a story about increased levels of fluoride in bone meal and meat by products in several national brand pet foods. To my knowledge, they still have not released the names of the brands of pet food implicated in this study. The report states that these 8 brands of food had fluoride levels 2.5x higher than drinking water. Unfortunately, we have been unable to uncover any additional evidence of problems.
Avatar n tn There is probably not one in Steamboat, but in Denver I recommend the VRCC - Veterinary Referral Clinic of Colorado at 303-874-7387. They have a team of internists and outstanding facility and expertise. Call them today as it may take some time to get in. I know it is probably a 4 hour drive for you, but they are probably the closest. CSU is also a good option. You will have to look at the map and see which facility is closer. Good luck and let us know what they find.

Avatar m tn hey wanted to share with the group a visit with my new LLMD in NYC who is well known for this as well as other hard to diagnose/treated illnesses. the consultation was north of $1000 so y'all get it for free ;) i'm on the following regime for 1 month and have a follow up to see how i'm doing. the supplements enhance the effectiveness of the antibiotics and the 2nd antibiotic (cefdinir) is to go after the lyme.
Avatar n tn Kidney transplants are a treatment option in extreme cases, and are available at a few veterinary facilities in the US. The College of Veterinary Medicine, in Davis, California has a top notch Kidney Transplant and pet dialysis facility. Long-term management involves monitoring kidney functions with blood and urine tests every three to six months. At home hydration can be monitored by pinching the skin on the back of your cat's neck. Hold it for five seconds, then release.

That one is specific for pancreatitis and other GI problems. You might want to post on the Ask a Vet Forum here at Med Help. 874521 tn?1424116797 I have been involved with pets and veterinary medicine for almost 2 decades now, but I still want people to know that veterinarians are the true pet experts. Although I can offer some thoughts to help people out, its the veterinarians who can offer good solid and practical advice that people can act upon.
Avatar m tn My cat has a hole in his leg, I cleaned it up but was told he might need a antibiotic. My doctor gave me azithromycin 5 daily dose. I was wondering if I can use it on my cat? I can't take him to a vet, so I'm trying to handle this at home.
Avatar n tn hello, i have a gelding that is turning 4 in April 2009, but i think that he has started to lose his baby teeth. Would this result in him starting to bite? If so, how could i possibly stop him from doing so. I mean, sometimes he'll bite me for no reason and other times he acts fine. He has even started to chase me in the pasture at times and bite at my arms, legs, and back. I don't blame him for doing what he does, but something must be wrong. Could anyone help me?
