Avatar n tn My cat has been sneezing and having nasal discharge for a month now. She has no other symptoms. She plays, she eats well. Just sneezes and has nasal drainage. Her eyes are good. No swollen or runny eyes. Is this allergies? I noticed she usually only sneezes when her nose touches objects or she sniffs. Sometimes mucous comes out with the sneeze.
1232362 tn?1333135406 Yes, they can. My kitty has the same environmental allergies that I do. We usually have the same symptoms on the same days with the runny eyes even. And, this without the actual seasonal allergies. We seem to both be allergic to this apartment. Moving isn't really an option. Cats can also have kitty colds. There are other more serious issues that the symptoms can mean, too, especially if the cat is an indoor/outdoor cat. So, you should still take the cat to the vet.
Avatar f tn Some people outgrow allergies and others get them when they are older. My little brother had a lot of allergies when he was a kid (including pet dander) and outgrew them, while I didn't have them as a child but became more prone to them as an adult.
Avatar f tn I LOVE cats with all my heart but in allergist to them :(((((((((( whenever I'm near them I get hives! My allergies might be getting better but I'm not sure. Avatar n tn Hi jen I just wondered if you discovered what the problem with your cat was? My cat has the exact same symptoms!
652407 tn?1300737199 Yes. I have found the right food for my cat. First of all, my vet said that cats with food allergies tend to be like our cats. I'm not sure why this is, but they get anxious, nervous. To be sure Abby had IBD (Chronic Colitis) he went through a not so invasive Biopsy. A biopsy is expensive but it is the ONLY way for the vet to look inside your cat's insides and see what is going on. That's when the vet said Abby's colon (the large intestine) looked very bad with blood.
2169449 tn?1358489923 I take Zyrtec 10 mg tablet daily im allergic to my cat/ seasonal allergies etc.
Avatar f tn already i feel better, my ent didnt do any testing at all, just hearing test, i am waiting to set up an appointment, for a cat scan of my sinuses, i am hoping it is all just due to allergies and, as my ears r hurting and nose is stuffed up, glands r swollen, i feel miserable. i do have to go for a vng test, but not until next month, and i am not looking forward to it, i am hoping the cat scan will show it is all just do to allergies and nothing more..
Avatar f tn I was told with my first they don't develop allergies until the age of 1 or 2 yrs. I can't remember which. It's been 5 yrs ago lol. Having a cat will actually help build up their immune system.
Avatar n tn I don't know what the discharge is or what it means. I had to try a few different kinds of cat foods before I found one that my cat likes that she isn't allergic to. My cat is allergic to grains.
Avatar f tn hey guys, I'm 4 weeks pregnant and the whole time I've been getting sinus allergies from mine and my partners dogs!!
Avatar m tn t know why that is impacting his life, but it sounds like the cat has anxiety. Usually if the cat has food allergies, they will scratch around their neck, top of their head and possibly around their face. It could also be allergies from something else, such as fleas, flea bites or dust. This is harder to determine and may have to be discovered by a vet. If they feel that is the reason, they can give the cat a shot that will temporarily relieve the itching for about a month.
Avatar n tn Today in revisiting and playing with a couple of cats I developed allergies. When I went home I played with my cat and the allergies returned. What could have caused this and should I adopt a new cat if I somehow now have cat allergies?
Avatar m tn I did the vaccination for 4 years and my allergy is more bearable now. If I am in a cat environment I take my allergy pill and I am OK.. maybe you should change your doctor and take second opinion??
7165624 tn?1395647767 Im severely allergic to my cat, i know awful, and NO i will NOT give him up he is my first baby and will be forever, but i was told zyrtec D and benadryl.
Avatar m tn Hi allergenic, I just finished reading your comments. You said you were holding a cat the other day, stroking and petting the cat. You also stated you had no asthma. Are you aware that male cats have more dander than female cats. I know this because I had allergies too to several different things. I 'd like to say that your allergies are getting better, but I doubt it. I'm guessing you've had an allergy test this is why you know that you are have animal dander allergies.
Avatar n tn I'm not no expert, but my one cat did same thing and turned out to be food allergies, she had mangled coat, then pull her hair out, since on correct diet, the problem resolved.Good luck to you!
Avatar n tn I'm so confused! My cat has allergies, and the vet has given her steroids, but that only helps for a little bit and I don't want to keep giving her that. I got out a healthy alternative book for cats and it says to give her garlic, and for her to breathe eucalyptus oil. I looked online at other sources which say garlic and eucalyptus oil are toxic to cats. I don't know what to do! I don't want to kill my cat, but she needs some relief! How do I know whats the truth? Help please!!
Avatar f tn I have a cat that is almost 18 years old. He has always been a scar that hides from everyone. He has been hanging out with us and around the dogs and is really stuffy. He has a lot of snot in his nose, it is hard for him to breathe, he gags and coughs and has runny eyes. My husband just thinks he is old with allergies but I'm concerned. I dissolve his food in water and crush it up and he drinks and eats fine. Not sure what to do? Can I give him something for the allergies?
Avatar n tn My cat is 21 years old. Just recently he has deveolped age problems. He has been scratching and pulling out his hair. (He has also become "litterbox Untrained" but that is another problem.) He had been driking and urinating a lot so I took him too the vet for a check-up. No diabetes, no unususal problems. She put him on 1/2 valium a day. I use frontline spray for fleas. Now both my Husband and I notice that when he rubs up against our skin, anywhere but our hands, WE start itching.
Avatar f tn Has anyone know of somebody outgrowing animal dander allergies that lead to asthma. In some cases at the age of 7 required hospitalization. He is now 20 and seems to be able to tolerate dogs in small doses but NOT cat hair of any kind. Wondering if this is a lifelong affliction.
1756384 tn?1312562154 Even though I vacuum and dust continually!, cat hair gets up my nose, in my throat and "jumps" on my legs, makes me itch on my face and also seems to cause my itching uinder my breast area, around where my underwear where it is tight around the creases of my skin( inside thigh area for example). It also makes my mood suck! I have been on Singulair for one week. daily saline nose rinses, veramist nose spray. It seemed to help a little bit but now not much.
681148 tn?1437661591 It could be something in the environment, too, because my own allergies have been driving me crazy big time lately, too--for about as long as Akira has been scratching more than usual. It could be all of the above, too. So, I was told to try the process of elimination by using just the turkey Wellness grain free. It's a lot like an elimination diet that people go through for food sensitivities.
326352 tn?1310994295 The daugher with the issues just turned 2, was diagnosed with asthma about 6-8 months ago (does breathing treatments regularly with Albuteral). She was allergy tested yesterday and came up with a 4/5 allergy to cats. She has moderate to severe eczema being treated with topical corticosteriods (Elidel, Elocon, something else) and has now been prescribed what is probably the REST of the list of cortocosteroids by the allergist. We've tried Singular in the past, but it made her mean.
1565420 tn?1304572548 My 17year old cat is vomiting up a lot of his food every few days..sometimes daily. I cannot tell if it's because of hairballs. Sometimes it includes hairballs, somtimes not. Does anyone know what might be wrong with him. He also sneezes a lot and has a runny nose. Worried.
Avatar n tn However, you can become allergic to them years after, I had my one cat for 10 years before any allergies and 15 years before I developed asthma. If you do get one, try to keep it out of your daughters room so she has a good 8 hours without breathing in tons of cat dander.
