A male friend had Green Light Surgery to treat BPH symptoms about 5 years ago. Now, he has been diagnosed with prostate cancer (Gleason Scale = 6).
Given this history, is there a preference medically or side-effects wise to choose prostectomy versus radiation?
My Brother was diagnosed with prostate cancer about 9 months ago, doctors removed his testicles instead of his prostate( tumor was too big), he’s been taking casodex for the past 9 month, but the last couple of days he’s peeing blood, he also has a couple of stents in his kidney which the doctor said he didn’t need to remove because his kidneys were functioning on their own again, I’m concern, any idea what could be going on
The side effects were so bad from the injection that I am not having any more.I am starting casodex 50g daily. The worst was my memory loss. How long can I expect the side effects to wear off.
In 2004 his PSA started to climb and then he was on Lupon intermittently and, a couple of years later, an injection every 4 months. Casodex was also added along the way. The Lupron and Casodex were effective for 5 years as he had no outward symptoms until now and his PSA remained under 30. My husband had the hot flashes also at first, but they did go away. If I recall, the doc gave him something for that, but he didn't take it for very long.
my husband is 50 he underwent RP in Feb this year and is currently on anti-androgen Casodex which he is to take for 2 years.
t Have Radiation Again And He Wants Me To Start On Hormone Therapy Immediately.He Even Gave Me A Prescription For Casodex When I Left His Office This Past Monday.
Obviously,This Needs To Be Furthered Discussed With My Oncologist Who Feels 2.5 Is Still Within The Safety Zone. I Also Need To Be Educated On Side Effects,Duration Of Treatment,Etc.
HI THANKS FOR THE ADVICE.YES MY HUSBAND WAS GIVEN CASODEX WITH THE RADIO THERAPY BUT ONLY FOR A YEAR .THAT WAS IN SPAIN.WE WENT TO LIVE THERE FOR 5 YEARS WHEN WE RETIRED HAVING WORKED ALL OUR LIFES AS I COULD NEVER HAVE CHILDREN BECAUSE OF TERRIBLE ENDREOMETRIOSIS . THE TUMA WAS FOUND JUST A MONTH BEFORE WE WERE TO LEAVE ENGLAND.HIS CONSULTANT AT ST JAMES IN LEEDS YKS WAS QUITE HAPPY FOR HIM TO HAVE THE TREATMENT IN SPAIN AND GAVE US ALL HIS FILE TO GIVE TO THE CONSULTANT IN SPAIN.
I have had no symptoms other than PSA results. Have biopsy scheduled for Nov 23. Very concerned. Any info is greatly appreciated.
I am currently doing antiandrogen monotherapy with casodex with a rising PSA. 0.17 to 2.8 in one year. How long does one stay on such treament,and what are the best treatments for hormone refractive prostate cancer. No prostate cells or metastatis has been detected,however possible micrometastasis.
Taxatere only has a survival rate of 2 months.I am more interested in QOL and no chemo for me.
1st Lupron injection coupled with oral Casodex in May 2010. Three month PSA immeasureable. PSA results every three months as follows: Jan.2011 - 0.12, April 2011 - 0.30, July 2011 - 5.35, January 14, 2012 - 6.20. He only had the one Lupron injection because the side effects were so bad. He has been on no treatment since then. He is going for a bone scan on Wednesday. Looking for your advice. Do you think a PSA of 6.20 is of concern at this point.

I am in a very similar situation as your husband. Diagnosed w PC in early "09 with a Gleason 9 and T3 (stage diagnosis following surgery). Radical prostatectomy done June '09 and biochemical failure w 0.7 PSA 90 days after surgery (sound familiar?).
I am in the process of having BOTH hormone therapy (6 mos of Lupron & Casodex) AND radiation therapy. Radiation began 30 days following start of hormone therapy at 180 units/day for 8 weeks by IMRT.
He took oral Casodex as well. After three months, he opted out of his next injection which he was due to have in August 2010. The Lupron had severely impacted his quality of life. He needed to sleep 4-5 hours in the middle of each day, had to stop working, gained weight and it severely impacted his focus, concentration and drive. His first PSA in July 2010, after Lupron, was immeasueable. Subsequent PSA's, in 3 month increments were October 0.01 ng/ml, January 2011 0.12 ng/ml.
I had 9 weeks of Radiation, then normally the HT would consist of having an injection under the skin of Zoladex, however I had a bad reaction to the injection so I was put on Casodex pills 150 mg per day for 2 years, and I am still on them. I have incontinence very bad with no improvements so I wear diapers 24/7.
Your 12 week negative test was fully conclusive and proves you did not get HIV from your exposure. You didn't need any further testing, and do not need to test again now.
The values on the test are irrelevant, they will always fluctuate. As long as they remain below the cut off for a positive test (usually 1.0), it is a negative result.
Symptoms are a terribly poor indicator to gauge HIV infection because they are very inconsistent.
I think im experiencing ARS its 26 days to day and the symptoms im having are: lack of sleep, extremely fatigued, jaw pain, headaches, sweaty, dry eyes, and a ucler top of mouth. My exposure was rubbing genitals with a girl altough she has her underwear on i still think i got infected by her through rubbing the head of penis really hard of her vagina.
af was due yesterday or today! weird thing is bb's are normally sore around af time! which they really arent, also on 13dpo which was yesterday! i was in the car and all of a sudden felt sick i have never felt car sick in all my life,headache very bad,soo tired could just go to sleep!all this all of a sudden came on! and today i have just got bad pains down my left leg due to constipation(tmi sorry) but it hurts so much!
