Common Questions and Answers about What is casodex used for

casodex

Avatar f tn Casodex is not for headaches. As a general rule of thumb, DO NOT take medicines prescribed for another person or give yours to someone else. With that out of they way here is what I can tell you. You only took one and if you did not experience chest pain, flu like symptoms or trouble breathing then you did not have an adverse reaction to this medication. You are not on any medication currently , therefore it would not have affected any other medication level in your system.
Avatar f tn My Brother was diagnosed with prostate cancer about 9 months ago, doctors removed his testicles instead of his prostate( tumor was too big), he’s been taking casodex for the past 9 month, but the last couple of days he’s peeing blood, he also has a couple of stents in his kidney which the doctor said he didn’t need to remove because his kidneys were functioning on their own again, I’m concern, any idea what could be going on
Avatar f tn t mention a new treatment, Firmagon, which is being used instead of Lupron and Casodex. Please look into this as Michael may be able to tolerate it much better and other than site pain for a few days, has fewer side effects. The results are impressive. If you go to the American Cancer Society, Cancer Survivors Network, (csn.cancer.org/node/170142) there is a great discussion on Firmagon. My prayers are with you and Michael. Please let me know what you think of above site.
Avatar m tn Thanks very much for your reply Antony
Avatar n tn Thank you for your question. Biochemical failure after prostatectomy is defined as elevated PSA between 0.2 - 0.4 ng/mL. Depending on the primary therapy and where the disease has extended to, this may warrant the use of radiation therapy in conjunction with hormones. Thanks again for your question. Ash K. Avatar f tn Thank you for your question. I understand that this is a challenging time for you. It would be irresponsible for me to give life-expectancy in absolute terms. Likewise, the definition of hormone refractory prostate cancer should not be understood in absolute terms, but rather as a continuum of events related to hormone responses. I think it is important to continue watching the PSA, getting regular scans, and watching for the symptoms of systematic disease (i.e. bone pain).
Avatar f tn this is known as off labeling...where a drug is intended for one purpose but used for another....in this case insomnia......
Avatar f tn he said that if the psa doubles over a 6 month period then its not good.what i wont to know is what should a good psa be and what should a bad psa be.also if my husband only has a psa done every year how would the consultant know if the psa has doubled in 6 month.i know that the psa does not stay the same constantly and can go up and down on a daily bases but i just worry that this cancer might come back.
Avatar m tn Intense pain and being bed bound is not my idea of QOL.Please help me with these issues as my search for answers is pretty much exhausted.
Avatar n tn Thank You For Your Input. My Urologist Who Performed My Prostectomy Almost 10 Years Ago Is Very Concerned.I Can't Have Radiation Again And He Wants Me To Start On Hormone Therapy Immediately. He Even Gave Me A Prescription For Casodex When I Left His Office This Past Monday. Obviously,This Needs To Be Furthered Discussed With My Oncologist Who Feels 2.5 Is Still Within The Safety Zone. I Also Need To Be Educated On Side Effects,Duration Of Treatment,Etc.
Avatar n tn Is this normal after prostate surgery? Or is there something my Urologist is not telling me? My Doctor has told me that this is normal but somehow I feel that it is not. I would appreciate very much if someone has an answer to this question. HELP...
Avatar f tn Yes he had radical prostatectomy in Feb and starts radiotherapy in Sept sorry (I normally hate abreviations myself!) HT for hormone treatment!
Avatar f tn My query would be what about where the prostate used to be? That is also a popular place for where the cancer can recur. If that is the case I would ask why not zap it with radiation therapy?
Avatar f tn We have been to three top oncologists at NYU, Fox Chase in Phila, and Sloan Kettering in New York and all have told us that it is distant metastasis and there is nothing else for him. So now, we just wait for the PSA to keep rising and have no alternatives? He still sleeps many hours in the middle of each day and is extremely exhausted and lacking focus and concentration.
