EKG taken by cardiologist as precation was normal. Cardiologist is having me drop Cardizem LA (180 mg) for Carvedilol (6.25mg 2x per day). Any reason to think this change could trigger arythmia or something else really kooky? I am told this is an excellent medication and typically very well tolerated. I tried Toprol XL before for several months. Did not tolerate it well, mainly due to severe nightmares. Once removed from the Toprol, nightmares stopped.

Both Cardizem and Cardizem CD (a controlled release form of the drug) and there is Cardizem LA that is an extended release, once a day medication. Two weeks ago my Cardio doctor changed my medication from Cardizem LA to Diltiazem CD. I know it's the generic brand of Cardizem. Anyway he raised my dosage from 240 mg. to 300 mg. For a whole week I had some terrible side effects. I blacked out once while sitting at my computer and then I came close to blacking out on a daily basis. I also felt off balance. I ended up going to my primary doctor, not for this, but for something else. I guess it was a follow up appointment.

However, if your wife has an enlarged left atrium, then the odds of this being successful are much lower than if her LA was normal (I also have an enlarged LA, 5.5 cm dia., and have been told that it isn't worth trying in my case). If your wife is in continuous/persistent afib and, even with verapimil and a pacemaker , experiences symptoms like strong annoying palpitations, dizziness, being tired all the time then another type of ablation is considered.

I was just put on 180 mg. of Cardizem LA once a day and was curious if anyone else here was taking this medication? If so, what side effects do or did you have? So far (only the first day) I haven't had any. Also, did the medication work for you as far as lowering your blood pressure?

my bp was normal but none of the other meds would bring my heart rate down. I took my regular dosage of the cardizem cd and my heart rate came back down to normal. after taking it for about 10 months now I seem to be experiencing circulation problems in my lower legs and feet that seems to be getting progressively worse. I'll speak to my cardiologist and see what my options are.

All of asudden my heart rate increased 108 to 112 resting. Had a nuclear stree test done results are normal. Doctor had already increased my Cardizem Cd to 360 in Am <180 at night. Heart rate was good for 2days ,around 80 . Yesterday I flt like my chest was going to explode. Took Maltha and 2 nitro, pain went away.. Many times a day I fel a chest discomfort that lasts for seconds,sometimes it feels like someone blew a bubble in my chest.

Hello everyone. I've been in the hospital for a week now and it seemed like it took forever to feel a little better,but with some med changes I have some hope I'll feel better. I was on 120mg cardizem in the am and 100mg at night for 6 years now,as of 3 months ago I started having problems with tachycardia\svt\ist. Got to the point I couldnt stand up or raise my arm without going into an eppisodes. So at first they tried up'n my cardizem to 180mg & I was still always in tachy.

I know PVC means premature ventricular contraction, but is this something to worry about? I went to see my cardio doctor yesterday and he raised my medication (Cardizem LA) from 180 mg. to 240 mg. a day. Every time I see him he does an EKG and shows me the irregular heartbeats. To me it looks totally different than a normal EKG and I don't understand why since January this has been happening to me.

So, I am curious. I still have 29 of the 30 Cardizem LA left over. After taking just one I started experiencing some of the worst and very different chest pains ever. It took 12 hours for these to begin to subside. I honestly thought I was going to have to go to the ER. I never took another one and told my doctor that I wanted to go back and try the Norvasc. The Norvasc did begin to help after a couple of weeks, adn the spasms started to get less severe and less in occurrences.

Recently I have started having heart palpatations of 215 that last for 15 minutes. This has only happened twice and they were 3 months apart. My cardiologist has put me on cardizem la 120 mg to see if that will keep my heart rate from becoming too high. I have had a heart cath, stress test, echocardiogram and every test that can be done has. Are my palpations of 215 coming from my anxiety disorder? What do I need to do if I have another attack?

I have been having episodes of sinus tach which usually occurs when I am walking or standing up (determined this by doing orthostatics). I have a history of heart block & have a pacemaker that was put in in '05 for complete heart block. I often feel lightheaded, dizzy, have chest pain, L arm pain & a headache. I also get palpitations a lot.I have been in the hospital several times for this. EKG shows a 100% paced rhythm (normal for me), blood work, chest x rays are normal.

5 years ago and was treated with cardizem with limited success. Last March I was have an especially bad episode (i.e., several days of 5-10 PACs per minute with periods of EAT) and was discussing increasing my dosage with my cardiologist. I decided to try taking a magnesium supplement (500mg per day) and have not had an episode in almost a year. I quit taking the cardizem 6 months ago also. I have an occasional "skip" but I've had those my entire life.

I tried taking Cardizem and had to stop. I had been given Cardizem instead of Norvasc for heart spasms. It was the long lasting Cardizem. I suffered through 12 hours of awful chest pains. I went back to the Norvasc. It just works better for me.

m about to start Cialis, so hopefully that will help regardless, but my cardiologist mentioned that I might try Cardizem. He was suggesting it had fewer sexual side effects. Maybe the Cialis will be enough to override any sexual side effects from the Metoprolol so I won't have to switch, but still curious whether I should ditch it for the Cardizem to at least try it. I don't have high blood pressure, just tachycardia and the metoprolol really helps keep that in check.

In the mean time I used the nitro alot. Have they discussed this with you? I tried Cardizem LA and had some awful side effects. For 12 hours I thought I was going to have a heart attack. I had some very different chest pains after taking that pill. So I went back to using the Norvasc. It takes some time to get the right combination of meds. You just have to work with your doctor until you find the right thing.

Not that site. I tried the Cardizem LA 360mg once and the side effects were miserable. I had terrible chest pains and skipped beats the full 24 hours. My heart felt bruised afterward. I haven't tried it again since. I went back to taking the Norvasc. I am just curious though, if the Raynauds is spastic in nature, could there be a connection. I think there could be, but then I am just wondering. My husband says that's dangerous! (For me to wonder.

Does 80 mg of sotalol twice a day help prevent Atrial Fibrillation ? I've had one per year over the past five years while on that dosage. Since I've been taken off the sotalol by a new cardiologist, I've had one AF episode every month for the last 3 months. Should I restart the intake of the sotalol? I'm really pissed off at my new cardiologist. Can you help me?

It didnt suit me So i tried a few more . Currently I am on cardizem 60mg and seems to control my BP and HR good . I am 5 10 and weigh 200 pounds . I was wondering if some has been through scenarion of palpitaion and did it go away by itshelf or is it a life long thing ? How long will I have to cardizem ? is anyone of you taking cardizem for a long time ?.. It make me feel horrible inside sometimes . but If I stop taking it my BP shoots really high .

I have been having chest pain, palpitations, neck pain, jaw pain, weakness in legs, headache & dizziness. I have a pacemaker b/c I have complete heart block. Pacemaker is working ok. I went to ER last night...they did bloodwork, chest x-ray & EKG...kept me for overnight observation & said I was fine. I DON'T FEEL FINE!. I'm exhausted all the time....have appt w/ cardiologist that i can't get moved up b/c she's so booked.

Then in November, my arrthymia worsen. So after about 6 weeks of playing with my Lopressor dosage, my doctor cut the lopressor and put me on Cardizem which is a calcium channel blocker like verapamil. My heart rate became much worse...very rapid like around 120-140....after 3 days of this, I begged to get back on Lopressor so we did and it's back to how it was ...no better no worse....my rate goes from 50 to 100...much more tolerable. I will be seeing an EP in March....

Of course all my blood tests came back perfect except that I was low in Vitamin D. I was actualy hoping something was off so that I had a reason for the increase in these damn episodic pvc's that have been lasting for hours at a time. She wants me to try a channel blocker called diltiazem on an "as needed" basis. She said if I feel the pvc's and they are really bothering me, to take a 60mg tablet, break it in half and try to see if this will help settle them down.

Whoooo Hoooo! Talk about falling into a pile of poop and coming up smelling like a rose!!! This cardiologist is a KEEPER! He was the cardiologist on call when I had the last (second) event on the event monitor. I didn't even know he was a local cardiologist I thought he was a TX cardiologist w/eCardio when he called me on the phone. The first time I saw him he was pleasant, etc., his office staff have been GREAT! But today, our second visit I KNEW.
