Avatar m tn Diabetes is the bodies in-ability to process carbohydrates properly resulting in high blood sugar (BG). ALL carbohydrates not just sugar. Your body turns all carbohydrates into BG . I dont know what your "diet" is that you follow. BUT it has more carbohydrates than your body can process. Even the ADA's diet has too many carbs for you OR/AND you need drugs to help your body to process the carbs.

Avatar m tn Alcohol does have carbohydrates in it, but different types of beverages have different amounts of carbs. It has a lot to do with what is used to make the alcohol and how it is made. (ie: many beers are made from wheat, barley, corn, or rice...typically high in carbohydrates. Wine is often made from grapes or other fruits that are then fermented to produce alcohol) In short- alcohol does have carbohydrates, but the amount of carbs varies a good bit between various types of drinks.

Avatar m tn Mostly depression is caused by a biochemical inbalance which in some cases may be corrected by diet. Foods that can help are good carbohydrates (such as pastas and rice) and lots of fruit and vegetables. I would still go and see a doctor if I were you to explain what has been the cause of the "depression" you may need to do a short course on some antidepressants, depending on the severity.
Avatar f tn Any healthy diet, low in Fat and Carbohydrates can be of help. A daily vitamin can also help to ensure your brain is getting all it needs. Eat lots of freah fish like Salmon as it has a high consentration of Omega 3 that can help the brain function better. Will all these things together, prevent or ease the symptoms of Major Depression? Not in my oppinion, but anything that helps is a plus. I just wouldn't get your hopes up about a natural diet curing Major Depression.

1266263 tn?1270153368 Hi, The best fuel for muscles is carbohydrates, either simple sugars such as naturally occurring sugars in fruits and juices or complex carbohydrates the starches in whole grain products, rice, cereal, oatmeal and other plant foods. These carbohydrates provide not only energy but also important vitamins and minerals. You store only carbohydrates not protein or fats in your muscles in the form of sugar called glycogen. During hard exercise, you burn this glycogen for energy.

Avatar n tn With fruit it’s important to eat them with other foods to slow the absorption of fructose [fruit sugar]. Eat foods low in carbohydrates as carbs to diabetics does the same as sugar. Try to eat whole grains, vegies, poultry, fish and lean meats. Nuts are good snacks as they provide essential fats good for you.
Avatar n tn Sugars listed next to carbohydrates are in grams. Every 7 grams listed equals one heaping Tablespoon of refined sugar. Sports drinks can contain upwards of 7 Tablespoons of sugar, or more, per 12oz. Deadly. Exercise 30 minutes daily and maintain proper body weight are just as important as proper nutrition. Good luck.
Avatar n tn It is important to keep your sugars lower. While you are waiting to see your doctor, try excercising (it is a natural way to lower your blood sugar). Even a walk will help. If you don't feel up to it, make sure you stay away from sugary, white foods (things high in carbohydrates). 276 is a fairly high reading, the range should be 80-120. Mine is typically 110-170, although after a meal it has been in the 200's.
Avatar f tn She is considered normal for her age. Carbohydrates are found in dairy foods (milk, yogurt, and cheese), fruits, and vegetables. There is sugar (lactose) in dairy foods along with protein which our bodies breaks down to glucose to use. I realize it is not the ‘traditional’ food sources of carbohydrates, however, if she is consuming these foods daily, then she is getting carbohydrates. If you are very concerned, suggest increase the intake of the above foods.
Avatar n tn Hello, Triglycerides are driven not only by fat intake but also carbohydrates. So in addition to following a low fat/low cholesterol diet(avoid red meat, egg yolks, full-fat dairy, processed baked goods, shrimp, meat sausages, fatty pork etc), try to avoid simple carbs and instead go for more complex carbohydrates in one-serving portions(brown rice, whole wheat bread and pasta, whole grain cereals).
