carbohydrate

Avatar n tn Vegetables, for example, the core of a healthy diet, are carbs, whereas beef is very high in fat on purpose and hard to digest despite being high in protein and so is never weight-loss food. In general, nuts, beans, animal food, and seeds are examples of high protein foods, while most of the rest is carbohydrate. In both categories you'll find fats, which come in good healthy ones and other not so healthy ones.

7628588 tn?1392763151 No rice, potatoes, and most beans as they are high in carbs. No pasta!! If you really need a slice of bread, look for the "old world" breads available. These contain lots of fiber, and are slow to process. .....and learn to read labels on food containers. Look at the total weight of the carbs versus the fiber. I could be bothered with learning glycemic loads of foods. Instead I adopted this way of eating, and it has worked extremely well for me.

Avatar f tn Check out everything. Even beans. Yes some people have a very large and long lasting spike on beans, even though books suggest it as a good choice. Supplements can help some people. If you want to go in that direction consider things like chromium, they help some people control BG. But check with your doctor, especially if you are on medications.

Avatar f tn Providing your body with the correct nutrients after your workout is crucial in stopping the catabolic process in your muscle and shift the recycling process toward repair and growth. If you fail to feed your muscle at the right time after exercise, the catabolic process will go too far and can potentially damage your muscle. Amino acids from high quality animal proteins, along with carbohydrates from vegetables (not grains) are essential for this process.
Avatar f tn Maybe you are trying too hard, have you tried the flavored milk, choc/ strawberry /banana and it wont hurt him to leave milk alone for a while, at 3 year old I am assuming he eats fruits and veg and protein , children like pasta , rice, beans, give him plenty of fresh water and some juice.Sometimes we worry more than we have to about children eating, if we make more of it more it becomes . So back off let him eat his food and in a very short time he will drink milk again .
Avatar f tn Can I obtain my carbohydrate intake just by eating (vegetables and fruits), or is it important that I also eat (breads, pasta, potatoes and rice in small quantities)?. Or do I have to eliminate them completely from my diet???? 2. I do not understand the exact relation between the amount of carbohydrates taken and the glicemic index. Could I eat food of low glicemic index, and still obtain the amount of carbohydrates required daily???? Does high glicemic index means more carbohydrates???

Avatar m tn As a vegetarian you should be getting all your vitamins and minerals from the foods you ate except Vitamin B12 and maybe Calcium (if you have a history of bone disease in your family). Vitamin B12 supplementation you need to take because it comes from meat sources and it not available through vegetarian diet. Calcium supplementation may be needed if your intake is on the lower side depending on what you eat and your bone density.
Avatar f tn I have been formally diagnosed with Fibromyalgia and possible Carbohydrate Intolerance. My issue is when I eat a load of carbs, it hits up to 3 days later and I can't hardly get out of bed and am weak most of the day. Everything I read about Carb Intolerance says that fatigue usually hits within the first few hours. Has anyone else experienced this? Carb crash, a day or days after the carbs are eaten?
1303110 tn?1273247668 Foods that will help you gain strength and give you energy are proteins (like eggs, hamburgers, seafood, beans) and eat those with a carbohydrate like toast, cereal, spagetti. Avatar f tn Though it is not healthy, YES, calories from Coke do count, being it is a liquid, it gets in your system fast, as do any soft drinks. If you want healthy calories, eat lots of fruits and "meaty" veggies, meaning peas, lima beans, etc. A good smoothie once in awhile will not hurt either.
Avatar f tn I agree with what super Sally wrote. Best option is to eat a low carb, moderate protein with balance of calories from fats, like olive oil, nuts, grass fed butter, etc. not sure beans and lentils are good for you, as this causes increase in sugar in blood from high carb content. Also don't be afraid to eat fats.
Avatar n tn As for amino acids, I am getting amino acids from the protein in vegetables and brown rice, mung beans, red beans, eggs, etc. Its a myth that you can only get adequate amino acids from red meat, probably perpetrated by the beef industry. Getting away from red meat and milk has probably made it possible to get through this horrible withdrawal, plus the addition of vit C, fish oil, calcium, and a one a day vitamin. I'm not where I was in past attempts to withdraw.
Avatar f tn Most contain sugar, some in form of carbohydrate sugar where every 7 grams equals one heaping tablespoon of sugar. Eat fruits in smaller portions and with other foods to slow the absorption of fructose. I personally avoid root vegies, vegies that grow downward - carrots, radishes, etc - as they contain more sugar than I can tolerate.
Avatar n tn He constantly acts like he is hungry and starving to death. When we allow him in the backyard, he eats everything in sight, grass, dirt, bugs, bark, mulch, feces, acorns, etc..Sometimes when he is inside he starts to lick the carpet and tile floors, not franticaly but like he is eating something or cleaning the floor; sometimes he will just lay down and lick the carpet while laying there. He is constantly begging for food which isnt his nature.
