Avatar n tn I find that for me Lantus lasts only 20 hours, not 24,so I split it morning and night (2/3 night/ 1/3 morning). Before I found this, the Lantus would run out around dinner, confusing the dinner numbers. I trim at 10 when I go to bed to correlate the dinner insulin.
905197 tn?1282232033 I was not told anything about my carb intake and I was told not to eat anything after midnight the night before. My 3 hour test started at 8am. Since this was just 2 days ago, I'm still awaiting the results...
710170 tn?1229237415 Have you had surgeries to remove the cysts before? You know what, when I gained a lot of weight the last time, I got on a low carb diet and it helped me lose a lot of weight and that helped me get my period back. Maybe you should try that for a couple of months and see if it helps you too. I have heard of a few women who did the same thing and it helped them too. Cysts can cause all kinds of pain, but if you feel like you might want to try another doctor, it wouldn't hurt.
Avatar f tn Eating a small snack as soon as get up in the morning to help kick start the pancreas (also should be lower carb). 3. Exercise. 4. Medication (first line would typically be metformin / Glucophage).
Avatar n tn either your medication is wearing off during the night, OR you are dipping LOW during the night and your body is bringing you up as protection. You may need your doctor's help in figuring this one out if it is not clear to you immediately. Have a good record of all bedtime and morning blood sugars for a few days and take a close look, see if a pattern emerges. It is important to figure this out because you do not want to go low in the middle of the night as this can be quite dangerous.
4287262 tn?1358999012 Is there any good snacks or foods i can eat at night to fill me up and keep me full. I cook a full dinner, meaning Meat, Veggies, and a carb/bread usually around 7pm I eat dinner. But by like 9-10pm I am starving again. Like tonight I have been so hungry and don't really have any snacks in the house other than an orange, which i have been eating non stop. And now i am weighing my options of stop being lazy and making myself some pancakes, or just keep eating another orange.
Avatar f tn I have a sleeping disorder and I would do nocturnal eating, are you aware of what you do, or you find the evidence in the morning? I suggest eating a carb like toast or cereal or some fruit, which should bring up your sugar levels to ease the cravings instead of going for the sweets, it's damn hard. I find in general hard to avoid sweets, I was a serious pop addict and now drinking a ton of calorie free flavoured water, it's worked really well!
Avatar n tn between bedtime and breakfast I am having a drop in BGs of around 10-13 mmols. and then in the mornings, after breakfast BGs shoot up, so my normal carb-insulin ratio doesnt work well. I cannot understand why this overnight drop is happening, which is becoming scary. I tested BGs during the night and there seems to be a drop of 2 mmol/hour. I am forced to go to bed with readings around 20, so that I will wake up with 7-8.
Avatar m tn Lately I have been waking up several times during the night and taking a while to get back to sleep. I think it is caused by stress. Is there anything I can do to make me stay asleep?
Avatar m tn So if you will eat 50g of carb at the meal, then you would take 5 units of insulin. The target is that the before meal blood sugar (say 100) is already returned to be 3 - 4 hours post eating and the peak due to eating is not more than about 40 points (iideally). You are going to need to do basal testing to work out how much basal insulin you need. You will also need to bolus testing to work out your carb: insulin ratio. You can find information on this testing online.
Tbd Hello and welcome to MedHelp's forums. Blood Sugar in the mornings is not uncommon and is called the 'dawn effect'. https://www.webmd.com/diabetes/morning-high-blood-sugar-levels. Our body releases hormones at night that in turn makes our blood sugar go up. It can also occur when you didn't have enough insulin the night before. The linked article has ways to combat that. You've been diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes?
Avatar f tn Most fruits people think of as fruits are almost all carb. If it's not fat or protein it's carbohydrate, which is why the whole concept of low carb diets is off. Vegetables are carbohydrates, but it wouldn't be healthy do without them. What low carb really means, or should mean, is avoiding simple carbs, such as sugar and white flower. Most fruits as we think of them are high in sugar, though it's not as quick to metabolize into simple sugar as processed cane sugar.
Avatar m tn After my last post I have been taking my bs readings before dinner and 2 hours after dinner, they been running in the 80s to mid 90s before and 130 to 140 after. I think this seems in target range, but today before dinner it was 86 and 2 hours later it was 210, never this high before. I did have a nice helping of whole wheat noodles with spag sauce and a small slice of bread. Was it the meal. SOULD i be concerned with this one high reading, are these #s good enough to stay off the meds.
Avatar f tn Hello everyone, it is Sunday evening here in Australia and I took the last of my tablets about an hour ago - tomorrow is my umpteenth attempt at going cold turkey off approximately 400mg of codeine per day, bought over the counter here in australia (about 10mg of codeine per tablet, mixed with 200mg of ibuprofen or 500mg acetominophen).
Avatar n tn I take AM and PM Lantus. Just started on Actos 15mg. I've started reducing my simple carbohydrates a lot. Cereals, Breads, Potatoes, Rice, high carb. veggies. Substituting low carb veggies, low carb fruits, avocadoes. In 2 weeks I've reduced night time Lantus from 25U to 10 U and BS in AM 90- low 100's. Yesterday enjoyed burger with L&T,onion, mayo on lettuce with no bun.. Today I made unbreaded baked zucchini with tomato sauce and mozz. cheese. I'm also exercising more.
Avatar m tn My mother is 57 years old. She was found diabetes type 2 in 2010. In 2010: Blood sugar is 7.3 mmol/L before meal and 9.8 mmol/L after meal. The doctor didn't give any medicine or treatment, just give advice to control sugar input and do some sport. In 2012: Blood sugar is 8.9 mmol/L before meal and 10.0 mmol/L after meal. The doctor gave Metformin and three pills a day. But it was not that helpful...Blood sugar is always 8.3 mmol/L before meal and 9.5 mmol/L after meal.
Avatar f tn I find myself craving carbs like crazy so I keep carb snacks out of the house. Try making a cup of black tea or something just to you feel like ur having something. Sometimes held me.
Avatar f tn I ate a huge meal before I was induced. It will most likely take a while even if you did need a csection as I did.
Avatar f tn 30 AM before my middle-of-the-night "snack," it was down to 297. And my before-breakfast reading at 10:00 AM was 291. These were readings similar or slightly better than I'd been getting shortly before seeing the doctor but I'd now been eating more food, so while that was far from being under control, at least we were heading in the right direction. But then I ate breakfast. The meal plan called for 2 starches, 1 meat, 2 fruit, 1 milk and 1 fat serving.

Avatar f tn My morning blood sugar fasting when I was first diagnosed at hardly ever below 135 in the morning. Even the first 3 months with a high protein low carb diet my sugar was staying about 125 in the morning. Now it is between 105 and 119 every morning but I have to hardly eat to maintain this blood sugar fasting. I am not on any medications at this time. Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can keep my weight from going down any further without my blood sugars going up? My last A1C was 6.
4476664 tn?1361632949 I spent most of the night rolling around trying to cool off and get comfy slept from 3am-7 luckily baby slept in today. Its rough. There teas you can drink before bed that's supposed to help you sleep. Ask Dr about unisom some say their drs okay it. I don't take meds unless I'm dying even when I'm not prego though. What else works for other ladies?
793305 tn?1493925518 For all of us all forms of sugar jack up our blood sugar. The key as to what you can eat is to test, test, test. Try eating a favorite food and test two hours later. You want to be under 140. If you are higher than you can't eat that food or at least that portion of that food. Some people do think things such as vinegar help. My belief is those things are worth trying but they are secondary to tried and true things such as weight loss, exercise and lowering carb intake.
Avatar n tn LRS is absolutely right about the basal rate possibly being a tad bit high at a certain time. This is what is so awesome about the pump....that we can set many basal rates throughout the day/night.
Avatar m tn Well I just had a random test. I searched for what a 144 after meal result would mean and it took me to this prediabetes subject. The last test I made was two weeks ago and it was pretty normal. I think I got 83 last week. As far as I know, I don't experience any symptoms of prediabetes, I get myself hydrated and I don't feel thirsty all the time. Maybe it's because of what I ate last night that's causing this?
