Common Questions and Answers about Carb cycling website

carb

Avatar m tn My guess is your blood sugar cycling up and down. Unless you take blood sugar measurements throughout the day, you will not know it, as one reading only does not tell the whole story. Have you noticed any pattern with what you eat and dizzy spells? For example, if you eat protein+fat breakfast (eggs, cheese, bacon, etc) versus a carb rich one (low fat muffin), you would likely feel better with protein+fat and otherwise dizzy with carb rich meal (which causes blood sugar cycling).
Avatar m tn I do 15 Mins of treadmill (avg 10 speed), 10mins of cycling followed by 5 mins of skipping (rope jumping) everyday. After that I do 1hr of weight training (single body pary) 5 days a week. Would this schedule help me lose weight. P.S I do follow a diet, but mostly I tend to binge eat once or twice a week max.
484167 tn?1210001396 anyone heard of this? about "cycling" calories and giving up on low fat/carb diets?
Avatar f tn Hi, I am also trying to lose some weight, and it's just-stay healthy. I workout almost every day,or at least I try to do some walking or cycling when I don't have the time, and you need to watch your calories. But that's not it,tou have to make sure you get the good calories, not the empty ones that are in cookies and such. Women's health mag helps me a lot, too!
Avatar m tn Hello all - I'm new to this forum having recently been diagnosed with hypertension and I'm trying to locate a website that I came across a month or two ago (and found very helpful) but the details of which I've now lost. As I recall, the website was created by a young man who was holidaying in Canada and during which vacation was found to have high blood pressure. He then returned home (to Wales, I think) where his own doctor confirmed the diagnosis.
Avatar n tn Okay, we're now about 5 days into learning that our daughter is diabetic. So really any info at this time is going to be greatly appreciated. Some of our most immediate concerns revolve around diet. We fully understand how to do the calculations we need, how to check labels, really most of the basics. But we are also trying to find resources that are a little more specific as to snacks that are no-carb, low-carb.
Avatar f tn your blood sugar may be cycling up and down, which may suggest eating a way that reduces the cycling. To do this, eat low carb diet, moderate protein and balance of calories from fat. Stabilizing your blood sugar will likely help the ups and downs you are experiencing after eating.
Avatar n tn Does that website have a listing of foods with CHO's only? It looks like they have alot of stuff including a hefty membership fee. I'm always sorry to see that. What I want is a list that only has carb counts of many many foods. I have a book or two with that but I want it online, ready for me to cut and paste and make it customized for my twin daughters.
Avatar n tn For example, you can increase light exercise (walking/ cycling), make sure you eat light meals, drink a tall glass of water every hour throughout the day, use a natural stool softener or herbal colon cleanser capsule, and add more veggies/fruit to your diet. Stay away from heavy, carb laden foods and stimulant laxatives. If none of these suggestions seem to help, speak with your doctor for further advice.
Avatar n tn I exercise a lot, jog for 4 kms (non stop almost) 4 times a week, do weights, stretches, cycling etc, Have a well regulated diet. Fasting sugar always is below 110. PP was earlier 130. Have diabetics in hereditary. I am 5.3 in ht and weigh 64 kgs. What could be the reason ?
793305 tn?1493925518 My belief is those things are worth trying but they are secondary to tried and true things such as weight loss, exercise and lowering carb intake. Check out the website I sent as they have a whole separate forum on diet and nutrition.
850029 tn?1238857820 I'm looking for suggestions. I am a personal care attendant for a young man with Autism. Actually, I do respite and he stays weekends with me every few weeks. I've known the young man and his family for 6 years. Every so often (6 months or so) the young man will seem to cycle like someone with Bipolor might. He seems to just loose all control of what he doing. I am so lucky that the kid is so well behaved that even at his worst, he actually pretty good.
Avatar m tn This question was already answered, including giving you a link to a nutrition website so you can look it up for yourself.
Avatar n tn I do make low carb breads from time to time (particularly for my children) out of almond flour or coconut flour. There are some great low carb website for lowcarb baking (alldayIdreamaboutfood) is a great one. However, I mostly just stick with basic foods. Breakfast is typically just coffee with cream. Both lunch and dinner will typically be some sort of meat and veges.
2053729 tn?1330435506 I have been watching what I eat following a high carb/low carb diet every other day. According to what I have researched, my BMR is 2485 and I eat about 1800 calories a day, so I should be losing weight just being me. Add in the approximate 2000 calories I burn with my exercise and I should be melting into a puddle! We do a lot of weights, pilates, abs, pushups, strength bands and squats at my aerobics class so I know my body is changing. Does anyone know what I am doing wrong?
Avatar f tn I eat very less avoiding potatoes rice and all high cArb food. I was wondering does eating less would affect my bAbys weight? Does anyone have gestational diabetes ? How do you control it without effecting bAbys weight? My baby weighs 2.7 kilograms.
1436324 tn?1283698760 Many doctors are still adhering to older ADA requirements which include very high carb eating and have not yet accepted the validity of low carb which we diabetics know a lot more about. As for Ketoacidosis: Dietary ketosis caused by fasting or eating very low carb is not the same thing as DKA (Diabetic ketoacidosis). DKA is a state of exreme and uncontrolled ketosis and will result after a period of time of very high blood sugars.
Avatar f tn With dieting, use gym equipment product for reducing your over weight like treadmills, kettlebells, cycling and also use yoga accessories.
Avatar f tn Dr Sarah Myhill has written a book and posted it for free download from her website www.drmyhill.co.uk I have read so many articles about CFS that detail possible causes and proposed treatment plans, but no other doctor had illustrated, step by step, just how the mitochondria in our cells make energy so that they can function. She explains it all very clearly, although it is a complex bio-chemical process.
Avatar f tn Sounds like your girlfriend should adopt a low carb diet, in order to reduce incidences of blood sugar cycling up and down. The more stable the blood sugar level, the less cycling up and down, which is causing her to feel sick. It's hard to manage insulin and medications to counteract ingesting large amounts of carbohydrates. So, if she stops eating high amounts of carbs, less need to counteract with meds. Try a day in two low carb, and you will see the difference.
Avatar m tn Then I would suggest cutting out sugar and reduciing carb intake. There is lots of information available online and calorieking.com is a good site that lists carb counts for all foods. (you can also get them on labels of prepackaged foods). Many pre-diabetics and Type 2's have learned that carb reduction combined with exercise can keep blood sugar in range for a long time without the need for medication.
Avatar n tn hi. i find it very very hard to lose weight.... despite exercise and diet..... my weight either remains the same or increases. eg. after working very hard in the gym and following a low-carb diet, i was able to lose only 3 kgs!! even my personal trainer and friends and family felt there's something not right. I recently got blood test done along with a USG scan. my thryroid seems to be fine and i do not have pcos. but my prolactin levels are high ie 31.5 ng/ ml.
1444402 tn?1302483147 http://www.goodhousekeeping.com/health/advice/calculate-calories-bmr Go by that and also maybe up your exercise. That's all I know to tell you...hope it helped some! Good luck!
Avatar n tn If you cannot get these drugs, you may want to try a low carb diet (low carb, moderate protein, and fat for balance of energy). Some people find this way of eating helps both blood sugar control and weight management.
