Avatar f tn The paleo diet is the healthiest form of low-carb diet, IMO. I would not go on a low-carb diet that was composed of low-carb junk food. If you eat a paleo diet, you are only eating real, whole foods (no junk food) and no grains. It's a lot of meat, vegetables, and healthy fats.

Avatar f tn This is going to really get Gymdandee going, which is fun, but there's no such thing as the Paleo diet. It's made up by people trying to make money. I don't know if there are any long-term studies that would give some idea how well it works for health and long-term weight loss, but nobody in the world eats like that naturally and nobody ever did. Certainly no "paleo" people. And "paleo" diets aren't all the same.
Avatar f tn First, I am a huge fan of paleo but you need to be sure you are doing it right. Being over tired while on paleo is usually a sign that you aren't getting enough carbs. Track your diet for a weeks and make sure you are getting enough (you will have to do some research to see where you should be at). If you are coming up short try adding in quinoa and/or sweet potatoes. Second, make sure you are getting enough good fats. Avocado and nuts > bacon.

Cutting all added sugars, Low carb / Keto/ Paleo style (whole unprocessed foods) diet will also help with weight loss. There are some really supportive online keto / low carb communities, which he may seek out. Exercise, will increase his energy levels and also make him feel better about himself. I hope this can be a wake-up call to him.

There are the Paleo diets (Caveman diets) that emphasize primarily proteins, fats and vegetables. There is the Glycemic index diet that does not limit carb content but does recommend complex carbs over simple carbs. There are the higher fat diets, that recommend low carb, moderate protein and high fats. All of these would benefit a food addict.

Tbd Hi, you join her way of eating and you both eat paleo / low carb / keto. This is, a healthier way of eating for everyone. Best way of eating is low carb, moderate protein, and higher unprocessed fats.

Avatar n tn So I figured it out eventually that I needed to avoid high refined carb snacks. But I still seem to get hypoglycemic episodes sometimes and I can't always figure out why. Today I had a high protein, low carb meal - paleo bread (9g protein, 6g carbs(1 sugar)) and hemp seed butter (9g protein, 4g carbs(1sugar)). Within an hour, hypoglycemic symptoms began. Is it because I didn't have enough sugar?

Avatar n tn Low carb diet may help greatly with reducing post eating blood sugars (look into low carb / ketogenic / paleo-style). Exercise after eating may also help to lower blood sugars. You may need to approach your doctor about another medication to get sugars under better control, if you can't do this with diet and exercise and metformin alone..
