Avatar n tn Honey is a carbohydrate (carb) and like all carbs it will raise your BG. How much depends on you and how much honey you eat.
Avatar f tn s own has some low cal, low carb whole wheat with fiber, white and honey wheat bread. I usually have one slice toasted for breakfast with 2 eggs and cheese (free carbs) of course I'm not an expert, just been learning as I go. I still have quite a ways until my due date. It's a lot of trial and error as you learn. I also never deprive myself. I do portion control. If I want pasta and garlic bread I'll have a small portion of it and lots of salad or veggies.
Avatar n tn Plus, remember that you are adding a 1/2 c. or more of milk to that cereal and you need to add in the carb count for the milk. If you add fruit, once again you need to figure out the carbs and remember that a portion would be 1/2 of a banana or 1/4 c. of berries. The way most people eat their cereal, they are easily consuming over 100 gms. of carbs in one bowl!!!! The most you should have per meal is 45-60 gms. The low end is for women and the high end number is for men.
Avatar m tn For weight and blood sugar management controlling how much carbs you eat each day is an essential part of management. Some people find that low carb, moderate protein, higher healthy fats diet is helpful in management. Hope this helps.
Avatar m tn You need to be sure you are using the right Insulin Carb ratio for your doses before meals and that you have an accurate carb count. Calorieking.com is a good resource for carb listings in addition to what's on packages (and be sure to correctly measure servings). 793305 tn?1493925518 For some people it makes a difference if they eat simple vs complex carbs, for example whole grain breads, brown rice, etc. For some it makes no difference at all, a carb is a carb. For all of us all forms of sugar jack up our blood sugar. The key as to what you can eat is to test, test, test. Try eating a favorite food and test two hours later. You want to be under 140. If you are higher than you can't eat that food or at least that portion of that food.
793908 tn?1294705109 Though their ingredients are top of the line, some of their varieties have a higher carb count or higher protein count than others, so pull it up on line and read the carb count and protein count for each one. "Embark" is their highest protein, so forget that one.
Avatar m tn never work and always fail. Honey contains fructose, which in a majority of diabetics elevates glucose levels. One must make and maintain lifestyle changes in order to control and manage their diabetes and/or help reverse it. Reversing diabetes depends greatly on your unknown glucose levels and how long you've been that way. It depends also on your current body weight and diet.
Avatar f tn They just suggested it because your more glucose sensitive in the morning, so they suggest not doing fruit at breakfast. And there is a carb count you should be following for meal and snack times. I got all my information from a registered dietician; I also have my bachelor's in nutrition. I Knew before hand that there was a carb count just couldn't remember the numbers. The suggest for breakfast and snack time to stay between 15 and 30 grams of carbs.
767148 tn?1257302551 I think because it has less than one carb per packet. When I was on the Atkins Diet 1 packet of Splenda was considered 1 net carb. And be careful if you get Stevia that it doesn't have anything added to it. A lot of them have Dextrose in them( to help with flavor) which is in Splenda.
Avatar n tn I do eat low carb. However, if you use insulin you need to be, aware that some carb foods digest more quickly than others, which may affect insulin dosing.
1401296 tn?1280799533 however, my feeling is that your body needs all of the food groups, so by cutting out carbs, you could be depriving your body of necessary nutrients, etc. If you do go on a carb free diet and lose weight, most likely, you will gain it back if you go off the plan. If you stick with the complex carbs - fruits, veggies, whole grains, etc - and eliminate the simple carbs - such as sugar, white flour, regular pasta, etc, - you should do better. Of course, you still have to limit your portions.
10570408 tn?1412078257 I am sorry to hear that. Try and cut down on your intake of red meat and processed food as well. Replace them with fresh fruits and vegetables. If it still fails to get your weight shifting, try Liproxenol max. It was very effective for me.
Avatar f tn By low carb, this means about 30 g of carbs/day. Most of the carbs will come from non-starchy vegetables. IF you can monitor closely you will also find out which foods make you high and which are ok. So essentially the diet is high fat (healthy fats), moderate protein, and low carb. As an example. Breakfast may be eggs (enough that you are satisfied), fried in cococnut oil and with a slice of cheese.
8369322 tn?1397826669 I also shunned grains of any kind like rolled oats, wheat. Also out were honey, most fruits, lots of types of beans, peas, and corn. All fruit juices were banished. Do you realize how many oranges you must consume to yield a large glass of orange juice? What I began to eat were lots of eggs, cheese, fish and meats, big salads with olive oil and vinegar with crumbled up feta cheese and hardboiled eggs, and sunflower seeds. Nuts became my "candy".
Avatar m tn What my wife and I got good at doing is simply reading labels and otherwise studying carb counts. it kind of seems like a pain in the butt, but its not that big of a deal. Dealing with diabetes means lifestyle changes and ones attitude towards those changes can really make a difference. Some people think "this is my opportunity and wake up call to start eating right and being healthier". (That requires doing homework and sticking to the program.
Tbd I recommend low carb (20 - 50 g a day), moderate protein (approx. 0.8 - 1 g / kg of body weight), and the fat that comes naturally with the selected foods; enough that you are not hungry. Note: you must not eat low fat foods - eat regular fat foods, use butter, oil reasonably in cooking, choose fatty meat cuts, avocado, etc).
Avatar f tn Then you need to know your carb/insulin ratio. count the carbs and take the proper amount of insulin. and test your BG after 2 hours and 4 hours to see if your BG is in range. if its too high you need to check on your carb/insulin ratio to see if it needs adjusting.
705807 tn?1300751246 Yes, honey, unfortunately, that seems to be the case; antidepressants reduce sperm count. Good luck honey! Don't give up or lose hope!
Avatar f tn medication is one part of blood sugar controle (BG)... your taking drugs so is execise... your exercising so is what you eat.... What do you eat? Carbohydrates raise BG... ALL carbs raise BG carbs are pasta, rice, wheat, most fruit, ALL raise BG.
Avatar m tn ve been on that High Fat Low Carb diet. But my mother is in town and after taking her to the city zoo, and doing a bunch of walking, I decided to take her to a Thai place. It was the first time eating a carb meal in a month. It was drunken noodles, with tomato, basil, and chicken. Some sites say that as long as it's under 140 im fine. But the internet says crazy things sometimes. I wanna hear from real people.
362249 tn?1441315018 The only addition would be that people on low carb diets normally have their triglycerides within normal ranges; this is one of the most reliable results in selecting a low carb way of eating. Too much fructose in our diet tends to increase blood triglycerides and is a risk factor for heart disease.
7280472 tn?1395272714 35 days! I love it! Baby's dad probably gets annoyed when I'm all "Look honey, 35 days!" But I think he caught some of the nesting instincts, too.
