Has your dr instructed you how to do corrections with insulin. For example, when I am high, I know that 1 unit of insulin will bring my blood sugar down by 10 points. Then if I am 150 at 3 hours after eating, I will correct. Your basal insulin (the levemir) will also need to be increased as the pregnancy progresses.
Avatar n tn For me, cheese or a slice or 2 of lean meat. A small dill pickle with a tiny bit of cream cheese wrapped in a piece of turkey or lean ham is good too. Nuts are great, if you can have just a handful. I can't. I'm addicted to them.

Avatar f tn If your on a gd diet you just have to manage your protein and carbs. You can pop something in the oven and eat meat just watch the starch you pair with it. I usually eat a lot of meat since it's carb free to help feel me up and double up on veggies and keep my bread/rice/pasta/potatos/beans to very minimal.

In order to gain weight you want to increase your protein and fats so that you can gain weight without increasing carbs.

Moms: What type of breakfast food do you give your diabetic kids? Also, my son has a snack at 9 pm each night, if your child does this also, what are some snacks you are using? I try for a carb and a protien, ie. slice of bread & slice of ham. Thanks for all the advise. Great site.

He is growing super fast. Is any of your's potty trained yet? i'm having a hard time with him.. Hopefully he will change soon, he just dont have any interest in it. He can count to 10 and knows his ABC's. Doing pretty good, I'm proud momma, He is so tall and 36 pounds.

1401296 tn?1280799533 however, my feeling is that your body needs all of the food groups, so by cutting out carbs, you could be depriving your body of necessary nutrients, etc. If you do go on a carb free diet and lose weight, most likely, you will gain it back if you go off the plan. If you stick with the complex carbs - fruits, veggies, whole grains, etc - and eliminate the simple carbs - such as sugar, white flour, regular pasta, etc, - you should do better. Of course, you still have to limit your portions.

It was the first time eating a carb meal in a month. It was drunken noodles, with tomato, basil, and chicken. Some sites say that as long as it's under 140 im fine. But the internet says crazy things sometimes. I wanna hear from real people.

If you add fruit, once again you need to figure out the carbs and remember that a portion would be 1/2 of a banana or 1/4 c. of berries. The way most people eat their cereal, they are easily consuming over 100 gms. of carbs in one bowl!!!! The most you should have per meal is 45-60 gms. The low end is for women and the high end number is for men.
