There are some great low carb website for lowcarb baking (alldayIdreamaboutfood) is a great one. However, I mostly just stick with basic foods. Breakfast is typically just coffee with cream. Both lunch and dinner will typically be some sort of meat and veges.

However, keeping away from the "sugars" is better for you...Count the carbs but check the sugars also...look at it this way...it is the sugar that goes straight to your hips...carbs are necessary, but it small quantities....also check fiber...the higher the better! it almost like "offsets" the carbs.

It's my understanding you can subsitute some high fiber grams for carb grams, but I'm unsure how to do the calculations so I don't bother. If you like bread Nature's own has some low cal, low carb whole wheat with fiber,white and honey wheat bread.

Avatar f tn Best option is to eat a low carb, moderate protein with balance of calories from fats, like olive oil, nuts, grass fed butter, etc. not sure beans and lentils are good for you, as this causes increase in sugar in blood from high carb content. Also don't be afraid to eat fats. People who eat low carb with ultra high protein and low fat run into the gluconeogenesis problem, which is your body taking some of the ultra high protein intake and making sugar (glucose).

After terrible constipation numerous stool softeners and a frigging hemorrhoid. I switched my eating habits, I've increased my iron intake with beans, Lentils, garbanzo beans. Spinach, kale more meats. Strawberries, broccoli. Almonds I'm drinking whole milk and the last thing I've been hooked on Boost plus.

Initially, I didn't even pay that close attention to the carbs I was eating and managed to keep my BG levels somewhat in control. As I've aged, that has changed. What I've learned to do is only eat things that I know what the carb count is. Something that has helped both myself and my wife (who is insulin dependent) is "intermittent fasting".
