Avatar n tn -) Rice in soups or casseroles-high carb. Pasta-high carb. Potatoes-high carb. Bread-high carb. Regular soda pop and fruit juices-high carb. Sugar is interesting-you can have your sugar and eat it too. If your dr tells you to eat less sugar you need to fire right back at him and say, don't you mean carbs? Do you know of anyone who sits and eats a cup of sugar? No. But I bet we have all eaten a cup of potatoes rice or pasta or bread....
Avatar n tn We have found the Zone bars, and the bars that are low carbs (they say to count as a lower carb. than on the label.) Have worked better for keeping our daughters blood sugars in line. If you cannot find one that you feel is good for you, call your nutritionist and ask him/her for some suggestions. I hope this is not your last question and that you will visit this forum again.
10570408 tn?1412078257 Different diets work for different people. Low-carb doesn't work for everyone. If it doesn't work for you, then you need different kind of diet, maybe a more moderate-carb diet. Try leaving out the sugar, junk food, and grains, but add back in two or three servings a day of healthy but carb-y vegetables, and see what happens.
1401296 tn?1280799533 Your body works differently on it and has a hard time switching back and forth. If you like it do it but I would have to say just follow the food pyramid and count your calories. You will lose fast and then slow down. Most of what you lose in the first two weeks is water. After that it's 2-3 pounds per week and as you increase your carbs you will slow down even more. My final verdict is - It's just not worth it!
Avatar n tn A well balanced diet will keep anyone healthy. The best foods for him are the same foods that are good for you. However, lower carb foods can help prevent highs. What a diabetic needs to understand about food is that to accurately count the carbohydrates in the food is essential. 1847035 tn?1327274923 chinese food is fine as long as you dont get it from a food court, make sure they make it for you freshly, if its sitting in a bain-marie thats when it can cause problems, like wise deli meats and salads that you get from your supermarket, sushi's a no no, as the post above said, I dont know if I would even bother with the vegarian either, deep sea/large fish should be limited because of the mercury, other fish is fine, they reccomened 2 serves per week, soft cheeses and unpasturised milk is
1568296 tn?1295471273 I have just noticed in reviewing my food trackers that the addition isn't correct for the total per meal. This is for fat, carb, protein and calories. If I made only one entry, a snack of an apple for example, then the total is correct. However when there is a list of items the total for the meal is not accurate and in some cases very far off. Therefore my tracker is not correct either. Is this possibly a bug?

362249 tn?1441315018 It's all turned to sugar eventually, but there's a difference in how long it takes for various things to break down and enter the blood stream. Sugars are included with the total carbs but both need to be considered separately.

Avatar f tn Most chinese restaurant do use MSG but you can always request they do not put any in your food. Panda Express (american chinese food lol) does not use MSG in their foods. As for the "fried" (fried rice) part, I think in moderation should be no problem.
Avatar n tn Carbs are in most foods especially junk food, pastries, potatoes, corn, peas, pasta/sauce, white rice white bread, white buns(whole wheat/brown is usually less)pizza. Pasta, pizza, chinese food(terrible for blood-sugars) stays in your system longer so it keeps your sugars higher longer or can make a spike a few hours later. If you don’t read food labels on packages, learn to. It goes hand in hand with carb counting. You also need to know how much Insulin to take for how many carbs.
